WE WALK IN YOUR SHADOW IN YOUR UNBENDING STANCE

By Christine Welangoda- Australia

We walk in your shadow in this battle to free our land,
clinging to the batten you left in our hands.
In the invisible frontline we still see you standing on guard,
when we are tired and our courage dispelled.

Sound of your footsteps haunt us day and night
To question why, you are now not there to fight?
We feel your cold hands on our hearts to waken us
We hear the great voices across our land to lead us

You knew the way, and you knew the time
to execute a plan to guard us on time.
Into our hands you then trustingly placed yours
To save our lives and to sacrifice yours

In the front line we march in your unbending stance,
to bring peace to our land and to feel our pulse again.
What would it be now if you have not cared?
Without our heroes we would not have fared.

While our hearts weigh down with grief and despair,
We offer gratitude for the lives laid down for us to fare.
Into your silent hands, we now promisingly place ours,
to lead this battle to the end to decorate 'your last hours.

In our grieving hearts we bravely place you,
To lead this great battle for our precious land to glow,.
Into your silent hands, now we lovingly place ours
To say a big 'Thank you' for extending our hours.
