LTTE ATTEMPTING TO INFILTRATE IN GOVERNMENT HELD AREAS IN THE NORTH

Nine LTTE cadres were killed with three Sri Lanka Army soldiers when the Tamil insurgents attempted to infiltrate the the forward Defense Line in the island nation’s North Western area of mannar, Defense Ministry sources said.

The attack on the military detachment at Neelachchena started in the early hours of Friday initially killing the army soldiers.

When the Army repulsed the attack the nine rebels were killed and 20 received injuries intercepted radio communications revealed.

The number of injured in the army were four. The infiltration by the LTTE indicate that the focus of the war is now slowly shifting to towards the Northern Province from the Eastern Province where the rebels were routed.
