The Time Is At Hand For Decisive Action To Rid The Nation Completely Of Terrorism With All The Resources Available !

The latest Foreign News media reports that 13 troops and 20 rebels have been killed during battle at Sri Lankan air base seems to be more concerned about voicing pro LTTE bias rather than focussing on the accuracy of the reports. They even throws in that touch of cheap sensationalism laced innuendo when they suggests that "The rebels have been fighting since 1983 for an independent homeland for minority ethnic Tamils after decades of discrimination at the hands of the Sinhalese majority" which is the greatest inaccuracy continuously posted by pro LTTE propaganda and should be rephrased to read" the LTTE terrorists have been carrying out an illegal internal armed insurrrection which for decades has plagued the Sovereign Nation of Sri Lanka although losing their terrorist direction as they are being decimated in the North and East of Sri Lanka by the Armed Forces and are in direct condemnation by a majority of the Tamil community they falsely pretend to represent.

The LTTE neither represent to any great degree the freedom loving Tamils of Sri Lanka nor do they have the capacity to take on the Armed Forces in full flight and these sporadic attacks will eventually accelerate their own self destruction! This latest attack is an expression of their frustrations which will be countered to the maximum as they drive another nail into their coffin and should expect severe retaliatory measures by the Armed Forces very soon which has ben confirmed by the Forces leadership as well as the C.E.O. of the Armed Forces the President who has said recently that every attack by the terrorists will be countered with severe strike force where the next one in all probabilities will pave the way towards LTTE elimination and provide more grist for the mill of thought that this would be fully justified contrary to the preachings of counter terrorism and human rights 'experts' !

Curiously as in previous instances of surprise attacks this present one comes in the wake of the meddling statements made by counter terrorism expert Louise Chaliand and the Human Rights specialist Madame Anne Arbour whose misleading pro LTTE sounding statements seem to have lent Dutch Courage to the already depleted terrorists who have carried out this bold attack almost in conjunction with the foreign voices which have falsely misrepresented their strengths in a devil may care, nothing to lose mentality for which they must be made to pay dearly!

This does not detract from the reality that the Forces location which came under attack appears to have been caught napping where proper surveillance seems to have been at a very low ebb and has shades of Pooneryn albeit with lesser damage where once again the message needs to be sent out to the Forces that such lapses if this be the case cannot be tolerated especially with the hyenas in the international community spurred on by the speculations by the likes of Messers Chaliand and Arbour about Lankan Forces and their' inefficiencies', looking on and waiting for the smallest opportunity to portray the terrorists of the LTTE as resilient albeit realistically no more than cowardly, criminal and desperate and given unnecessary leeway by a somewhat conciliatory Administration which should now push for an all out drive to eliminate the terrorists in their entirety towards closure!

As reported by the Associated Press - A group of Tamil Tiger suicide fighters, backed by the rebel group's tiny air wing, carried out a surprise pre-dawn attack on a Sri Lankan air force base Monday, setting off a fierce battle that reportedly killed nine troops and 20 guerrillas. Four other airmen were killed when their helicopter suffered mechanical failure and crashed as they were searching the area for rebel fighters according to military sources. This latest terrorist attack has been launched targetting the Anuradhapura Air Base deep inside Government-controlled territory and was the second attack on a military target far from the front lines in a week probably intended to be a distraction to the Armed Forces who have been continuing to launch their forceful operations in Northern Sri Lanka where the terrorists have been hard hit and are virtually on the run!

The Armed Forces are fighting the rebels near their so called' power base' farther to the North and it is expected that the disruption of this base together with their rebel operatives will soon follow and hence perhaps the frustrations of the terrorists who have engaged the Armed Forces once again to their great detriment and perhaps the shape of worse to follow for the terrorists. The raid which seems to have been well co-ordinated until the Armed Forces struck back in defence has damaged two helicopters and a training jet and injured 20 Air Force personnel according to the same Military sources and has undoubtedly taken the Sri Lankan Armed Forces by surprise inasmuch as the recent cowardly attack in the South on a isolated post in the vicinity of Yala National Park.

As the Defence Scretary indicated in a BBC interview the perpetrators of this attack appear to be highly trained and skilled LTTE personnel who were to a degree effective in their operation and not the run of the mill LTTE podiyens hardly able to level a firearm at a given target who scatter into the jungles when the going gets rough but regardless of their purported efficiencies the entire entourage of terrorists who launched this attack have been killed and hence distorting their so called effficiencies which need to be deemed cowardly and spineless to which LTTE sources has suggested that they were on a suicide mission and not expected to return.

As usual the innuendo laced LTTE misrepresentative and rebel spokesman Rasiah Ilanthirayan has bragged about 21 members of the Black Tigers, the Tamil Tigers' suicide unit, breaking into the base, shooting up eight aircraft in a hangar and on the runway and then setting them on fire reports which have yet to be confirmed for accuracy and one conflicting part of his statement suggests that" The rebels lost contact with the assailants after the battle" making no real sense and lending credence to many realistic speculations about the many false presentations and distortion of the facts this individual has now gained a reputation for!

It is hoped that the International Community as well as the so called Foreign Experts on Counter Terrorism and Human Rights take note of this and record it as yet another suicide attack on legitimate entities, towards toning down their rhetoric in deference towards condemning global terrorism in favour of Sovereign Nations such as Sri Lanka and fight against it where the condemnation needs to be more tangible and forceful with guarantees of logistic and equipment support towards eliminating the terrorist scourge in Sri Lanka which is even at the present spreading rapidly around the globe in various transformations of terrorism initiated by Sri Lanka's terrorist element and has even been suspected as liable in the recent cowardly attack on former Prime Minster Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan where the LTTE terrorists are said to have had links to!

A more credible version of what really transpired at Anuradhapura has been given by Air Force Commander Air Marshall Roshan Goonetilleke, who has said the attack has had no real impact on the fight against the rebels and that it has not disrupted to any great measure the functioning of the Air Base located in the North Central Province about 128 miles north of the capital Colombo. He has also indicated with confidence that the base will be back to normal functioning very soon.

The Government in the meantime has affirmed what many believe to be true that the attacks were carried out by the rebels who were becoming more and more insecure about their existences in their hideout areas and the areas they falsely portray as their de facto state which in reality is Sovereign Sri Lankan Territory. Government spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella has reiterated that "It's obvious that they are in total desperation from the success we are having in the North " indicative of Govermental and Armed Forces Morale where a sporadic attack such as the one carried out will have little impact on the overall objectives of the Forces drive to rid the nation of the LTTE terrorists!

They should however not overlook the involvement of two light aircraft which had flown over the skirmish area and got away in the melee after dropping bombs and a task for the Air Force Intelligence and Surveillance to ponder upon as a priority towards overcoming in the best interests of the Nation's security where it has been reported many times that the locations of these Aircraft were known to the Armed Forces so what are they waiting for beyond taking them out however difficult the task may be? Fighting in Northern Sri Lanka has escalated in recent weeks ahead of what many believe is a planned government offensive to retake the area and crush the rebels the importance towards searching and destroying any aerial capabilities of the terrorists has to be now prioritises leaving no room for regrets.

The time perhaps is now! to engage the terrorists towards dismantling all their holdings, resources and capabilities beyond the cause of negotiations or dialogue and done without foreign interference as opposed to cooperation towards the task by the powers that be in a capacity to help overwhelm the terrorist element engaged in worthless dispensation of their resources elsewhere which will provide all the freedoms and peace for Sri Lanka's posterity and future well being while also sending Velupillai Prabhakaran and his outcast criminals into the hands of their makers.
