Learned Professor Rohan Gunaratna, who paid you Kappann this time?

Kithsiri Athulathmudali, Florida, USA

I am referring to the pre recorded presentation that was given by you at this Security conference in Colombo last week. It was published on many web sites. I cannot understand what you were attempting to do to satisfy your backers. What the British colonials do not want is a Sri Lankan armed forces victory. So they found people like you to give derogatory statements about the Sri Lankan military intelligence. I can assure you that the Sri Lankan military don't need a third party to create a military intelligence portfolio. Military intelligence unit was created way back when; by the Israelis in the 1980s. May I ask you a question: How did the army capture Toppigala? Without any intelligence gathering or by only removing Indian RAW agents from the front lines, may be both? Now, what were you doing when Ranil was dismantling the military intelligence units during the time, he was the prime minister?

Taking a sentence from your presentation, "An intelligence center for terror activities and developing a military intelligence unit technically are priorities". Where are you going to house this unit in Colombo? So that every UN organization can penetrate it, the Indian RAW can penetrate it, Norwegians can penetrate it, British can penetrate it, Germans can penetrate it; I can go on and on. No Mr. Professor, this not going to happen! Starting from defense secretary Gotabaya, chief of staff Donald Perera and all heads, Army, Navy and Air force get their intelligence from existing channels. You state that this unit you want to create will pose a threat to LTTE! Far from it, the only threat pose to Tamil terrorists is the Special Task Force (STF)

You stated that lack of leadership in the security forces was another barrier to combat terrorism! Do you know what you just said? You just insulted General Fonseka, Gotabaya and all the branches of the armed forces. Tell me, how did the Home Guard get streamlined? Still dwell on lack of leadership? Come off it professor, how much did the Kappann karaya pay for this presentation?

Next thing you want is for the Sinhala soldier to learn Tamil! It should be the opposite. The minority must learn the majority language. The soldier must teach Sinhala to the Tamils.

You carefully state a mantra again; instead of buying military equipment one should buy intelligence. Now what good is the intelligence if one hasn't got the right weapon to destroy the enemy? This like "Uddhayata nathi kaduwa kos kottantadha"
