The TNA Leader Stirs It Up

© Insight By Sunil Kumara For LankaWeb

20th November 2007
The TNA Leader Stirs It Up To No Avail With Meaningless Rhetoric !The TNA as usual in their best known capacity to rabble rouse and foment dissent within a Nation divided only within their norms and interpretations and of course those of the renegade LTTE has said in parliament yesterday that the Government had not tabled any proposals to solve the ethnic problem and justifies the war, which would cost the country over Rs. 166 billion next year according to budgetary estimates of the 2007 Appropriation Bill. Curiously these facts and figures while being debatable have a salient ring of distortion to it which they as a back door entry into parliament as a result of a botched monitoring system during the last election should be made aware of and given stringent admonishment towards blowing their LTTE propaganda bugle albeit on a rather flat note as it will have little or no effect on the state of affairs within Sri Lanka particularly due to the meaningless nature of the tunes becoming very apparent!

TNA Leader R. Sampanthan in saying "the Tamil people wanted the right to internal self determination in the areas of historical habitation of the Tamil speaking people in the North and East" is once again endorsing a case for the Eelamists. ~Obvious support for the LTTE who have been desperately seeking through armed insurrective chaos their particulat type of anarchy without success due to the resolute policies of Sovereign Sri Lanka and her Armed Forces and no matter how it is veiled or how garbled the rhetoric it still is decipherable as to what is being implied.

The question needs to be then asked "who are these 'Tamil People who wanted self determination in the North and East and what is this historical habitation being refered to beyond the now very distinguishable Eelamist slogan by a miniscule minority of alienated terrorists with their diaspora supportives who are not the voices of freedom loving Tamils also a visible minority of modest proportion by comparison to the overall populace yet unprepared to be represented by the LTTE and perfectly cognizant of the reason for it, being unwilling to imperil their future and those of future Tamil generations which would be devastated should the LTTE be permitted to take control albeit a far cry from reality being the bunch of directionless terrorists on the run that they are!

Hence it is an affront to all the citizens of Sovereign Sri Lanka that the TNA should have the nerve to make statements of this nature where an appropriate response seems necessary from the Sri Lankan Administration to disillussion what Sampanthan is trying to create as a very false impression which is likely to be misinterpreted by all the wrong sources with all the international bickering going on and the multi faceted finger poking into Sri Lanka's internal affairs by meddlesome foreigners who sometimes are an unwelcome presence to moot yet ride a crest of resignation by Sri Lanka under the duress of having aid packages etc. etc. restricted or even rescinded where the Sampanthan type of rhetoric merely adds to their speculations with no real significance of being Nation friendly yet effective enough to trigger off doubts in the minds of the donors!

When Mr. Sampanthan has charged that "President Mahinda Rajapaksa was not honest in his approach to prevent a political solution which satisfies the aspiration of Tamils for self governance "the man is surely talking through his hat as there never has been any question of self governance for a community comprising of less than 15% of the Nation's total population where a pluralistic approach towards accommodating the Tamils within the infrastructure of Sri Lanka as suggested in theory has never meant the same thing!! also applicable to the Muslims and other minorities as Sri Lankan citizens.
It might also be necessary to clarify this concept however as one which has never even hinted at accommodating the LTTE terrorists within this capacity being fully armed. unrelenting and non negotiable with a single objective in miind and synonymously Sampanthan who to all intents and purposes is an LTTE supporter has probably disentitled himself from this consideration also.

Interestingly perhaps the TNA might not be a parliamentary representation in the future where as a result of the inevitable exit of the LTTE presence from Sri Lanka as anticipated, it might leave the TNA with nothing to represent and in all probabilities defect to Tami Nadu where the likes of Sampanthan may seem more acceptable although that too may be a difficult accomplishment given the growing resentment towards the LTTE in India and the recent demands by the Indian authorities to apprehend alive and hand over for trial the murderous LTTE head honcho Velupillai Prabhakaran!

Indicative of whence Sampanthan is really coming from has been made crystal clear by his recent utterings ( mutterings a better definition!) where he has 'stressed' that even if the Government Military Campaign destroys Prabhakaran and defeats the LTTE the Tamil struggle would continue. While the so called 'Tamil Struggle' is more a concoction in the minds of the Eelamists which has been ongoing for decades propped up by the pro LTTE Tamil diaspora lobby against Sovereign Sri Lanka, it also suggests that the TNA still recognizes the LTTE as a legitimate outfit while there are ongoing discussion to ban and outlaw them through an act of Parliament which would surely straighten out Sampanthan's resolve to pontificate the LTTE and shut him up permanently perhaps though impeachment for promoting the cause of terrorism through his irresponsible rhetoric against the President of Sovereign Sri Lanka and his perfectly legitimate administration!!
