International Community is an ego centred Community looking after their own interests.

By Charles Perera

I do not think that there is another independent sovereign state in the world that is being interfered into so much by the International Community, the UN, Free Media Moment, I.R.C, Amnesty International, Human-rights Movements, the Non Government Agencies and whatnot, than Sri Lanka, which despite destruction by the terrorists, partial devastation by the tsunami, and internal political conflicts has managed to keep itself above economic, and social difficulties. This is mainly because of a Government lead by an able and a dedicated leadership, the security forces that show an unfailing devotion to the duty of defending the country, and a majority of the people who patiently bear the brunt of painful circumstance with unfailing confidence in the government.

The International Community is more an ego centred community who look after their own welfare, capitalising on the poverty , social and political conflicts of developing nations. Is there one developing country that had been allowed to administer their nation according to the system of government they have adopted without one or other member of the International community meddling into its affairs and level criticism and carry out media campaigns against it ? They-the IC, made their utmost to stop the development of China with a campaign against violations of human rights in China. But China was strong enough to withstand their “assaults”. They try incessantly to bring Burma under the control and dictates of the International Community. Burma has closed its doors to them, though unfortunately there is possibly financial difficulties that thwarts its development. Economic aid by the International Community would have been a danger for its development. If Burma opens itself to the influence of the International Community, their would soon be the non-government agencies, human rights groups, amnesty international , Federation of Free Media, and lots of other do gooders who will be a menace to its independent development. The same could be said of North Korea, Cuba, Syria, and even Iran. The International Community would not help a country to develop, but make it a undeveloped nation remaining under Western influence, making it a haven for their NGO’s, peace movements, holiday makers , social research workers, and other pseudo intellectuals.

This is what has happened to Sri Lanka. The International Community could have if it really wanted to settled the problem of terrorism, they couold have done so a long time ago. No ! they had another agenda. They saw the potential development capacity of Sri Lanka, and was all out to stop Sri Lanka from becoming an influential nation in Asia. The best way to do that is to divide Sri Lanka into two nations, thus making it dependent on the West. The war is the only means against terrorism, and they who accept that as the gospel truth, is all out to stop the Government of Sri Lanka from taking a military solution against terrorism in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Tyron Fernando rightly said that foreign Ambassadors have no right to make critical statements against the government of the Country to which they have been posted. But in Sri Lanka they are like the speakers in the Hyde Park Corner. They criticise practically every move of the government. If the Sri Lank Ambassador in Washington is to make a statement against the American Administration he will no doubt be asked to leave the country as a persona non grata.
