PRESIDENT RAJAPAKSA TELLS ABOUT DIABOLICAL PLANS TO RAISE FALSE HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES TO SUPPORT TERRORISMBy Walter JayawardhanaAddressing a large gathering of expatriate Sri Lankans at the Lankaramaya
Buddhist Temple in La Puente California President Mahinda Rajapaksa
of Sri Lanka said some people stealthily go abroad and their trips are
followed by diabolical statements that they are missing persons to raise
false human rights issues as part of the terrorist campaign against
Sri Lanka. Recently , a young couple was reported missing by some people.
Later it was found they have gone for a weekend hideout to enjoy themselves, said
the President clarifying about false human rights cries of some people
to create difficulties for the country. President Rajapaksa said the terrorists of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) know where the security forces of the country are
trying to do and the false cries are raised as a counter measure to
dampen the strike against them expecting outside help. He said all expatriates of Sri Lanka should act as ambassadors of the
country and take whatever counter action one could take against those
measures. President Rajapaksa thanked the devotees of the temple for the great
contribution they made to reconstruct hundreds of houses during the
Tsunami disaster under the guidance of Venerable Aluthnuwara Sumanatissa
Thero , the incumbent of the Lankaramaya temple. While this government was developing the country, despite the large
amounts allocated for war, some people for ulterior motive call the
country a failed state. He said what they mean is that the country is
hoplessly bankrupt. If any individual is bankrupt would anyone give that person even
a loan of hundred dollars. You would give a loan only when you are sure
that you would be able to recover it back, the President said.
Banks when they give loans minutely study the recoverability of the
loans. But when the recoverability is certain and banks give loans,
some people get very upset and surround the banks in frustration and
protest. How could they stop the loans with such meaningless acts, the
President asked in an obvious reference to the the countrys opposition
leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was protesting a loan by the Hong Kong
and Shanhai Bank to the government of Sri Lanka . Clarifying the matters that led to the military confrontations with
the Tamil Tigers also known as the LTTE the President said After the
November 2006 elections the government tried to keep its cool until
the terrorists tried to assassinate the Countrys Army Commander
Sarath Fonseka and blocked the irrigation canal Mavil Aru ruining g
the the crops about 35,000 farmers . Abandoning any kind of peace the
LTTE tried to occupy Muttur and attack Trincomalee. The President said
the government had to re-attack the LTTE only because the conditions
created by the terrorist leader were asking for such action. The President said during the years of 89-90 he greatly represented
victims of human rights and he needed no lessons from anybody to protect
them. Amidst cheers of those who were present the President said that the
precious Eastern province could be won back and all entry points through
which weapons enter the country could be closed by his government. President Rajapaksa said the government in its process of crushing
the terrorist activities had to operate under certain laws and it was
not possible to violate laws at any rate. Venerable Aluthnuwara Sumantissa Thero said the President was taking the correct path and had won the confidence of the people by taking a rough road in fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He said the path taken by the President was very similar to the paths taken by our heroes of the past like Dutugemunu, Wijayaba, and Prakramabahu . Like those past heroes the President has captured the hearts of the people . Those past heroes had only the the country to be captured from its enemies. This President had to capture it from the whole world in addition, to unite it , Sumanatissa Thero said.. He said the temple had started lighting an oil lamp on the day Gotabhaya Rajapaksa escaped an attempt on his life by the LTTE. The oil lamp will be maintained until the battle against the LTTE is finally won , the Thero said. Sanjeewa Gunawardena and Raja Edirisuriya also addressed the gathering.
