NADESAN & NADEI SÚN

Sisira Pereira, Panadura

It reflects very badly on the LTTE that it had to engineer a barbaric bus bombing in their own illegally held territory, inside from the battlefront, to make the opportunity for its novice political mouthpiece, Nadesan, to try his hand at writing a podi ekaage liyuma (letter by a kid) to the UN Chief requesting due acceptance of their Tamil Elaam. Nadesan, finally penned the letter (perhaps as best as he could, he should be commended for trying, anyway), and should anyone find it to be a legitimate plea for help, that person, too, might do as well to get his head examined first.

Shall we take a look at a few excerpts from Nadesan’s letter?

Nadesan starts his letter with two paragraphs listing out a few instances that he alleges to be the work by the government forces, where they had deliberately targeted children. And Nadesan, without any shame about the numerous massacres and killings and bombings that the LTTE had indulged in for over two decades, concludes out of nowhere that the recent bus bombing at Pallampiddi is the work of the Sri Lankan Army , but gives no solid proof to his allegation in the letter (Reverend Rayappu Joeseph has made a more hilarious comment on this saying that if the SLMM were present, culprits would have been apprehended! The Reverend's comment might give us the clue as to the sole objective behind this bombing, as to why the LTTE engineered it).

Then Nadesan summarizes his two opening paragraphs as follows;

"The deliberate targeting of Tamil civilians by the Sri Lankan State has continued even through the nearly six year period of the ceasefire agreement signed in February 2002. Since the present President of Sri Lanka took office in November 2005, 2056 Tamil civilians including 132 Tamil children have been massacred by the Sri Lankan State forces.

Now why does Nadesan play amnesia about the 20 odd year period prior to the CFA and during the CFA, where there are plenty of documented statistics to show how the LTTE massacred thousands of civilians both children and adults with impunity? Why does he refer to the CFA period, which has documented evidence of Nadesan’s own LTTE breaching it for thousands of times, and how does he conveniently conclude that the Government to be the culprit? Who targeted boarder villages full of unarmed civilians, priests, pilgrims and recruited minors to be sacrificed at the battlefronts for 25 years and still counting?

"The pace of civilian killing by the Sri Lankan State, after unilaterally abrogating the ceasefire agreement of February 2002, after evicting the ceasefire monitoring mission, the SLMM, and after adamantly refusing to allow UN human rights monitoring body continues to increase.

Nadesan must be totally deaf and blind. If not, why else should he not remember that it was the LTTE that unilaterally violated the CFA from day one? And, who ordered the EU monitors out of the country? Nadesan must be joking or he is on a mission to embarrass his own terrorist organization by demonstrating his lack of ability to be the head of the so-called political division of the LTTE.

The response of the Sri Lankan State to the concerns raised by senior UN officials about the rights violations has been uncivilized to say the least. It has responded to the concerns raised by many senior UN officials by calling these UN officials "terrorists" and "colonizers". In effect the Sri Lankan State is repulsing all efforts by the international community to rectify the appalling rights situation in this island.

Uncivilized? Who? Can the massacring of rival Tamils, Heads of States, politicians, unarmed civilians, priests, pilgrims, religious devotees in mosques and children in mothers’ laps and bombing of civilian targets from the early ‘80’s up to the present by the LTTE be called as civilized responses to alleged Tamil grievances? Does Nadesan think that while committing heinous crimes against humanity for over two decades, it would be a civilized response by the LTTE just to appoint a name-sake terrorist spokeswoman on human rights? And who got banned by many countries and got listed by the FBI as the most ruthless terrorists in the world? Nadesan would be better at trying his hand at writing humourous fiction instead.

"The Sri Lankan State unilaterally abrogated many of the agreements that were made even within the six year ceasefire period. These include, agreement reached during the early peace talks to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the war affected Tamils, agreement reached on de-escalation according to the ceasefire, and the agreement signed for rebuilding the tsunami affected areas.

There is a saying that if you are mad, you tend to think the others are mad but not you. Nadesan must be suffering the same peril judging by his use of phrases like “Unilateral Abrogation”. If Nadesan can, he should tell the world which agreement they kept and where, without breeching it million times during the series of failed negotiations, during which his megalomaniac thalaivar terrorist continued his weapon smuggling, hunting down political rivals and killing civilians when it pleased and suited his cause. And Nadesan should not forget that their TRO got banned because it collected funds in the guise of Tsunami rehabilitation and used it for terror tactics by the LTTE. What agreement in the world can Nadesan be sanely talking about?

"We wish to emphasize to you that all along we have respected the efforts made by the international community to rectify the rights situation and to bring peace in this island. Respecting the international norms we have entirely eliminated those under the age of 18 becoming members of our organization.

Now Nadesan is really desperate, desperate enough even to forget and confuse the meaning of the words like “respect” and “human rights situation”. Like I mentioned above, appointing a name-sake spokesterrorist on human rights do not vindicate the LTTE of their regular crimes against humanity. I fail to understand how Nadesan would think that he could write these nonsense and hope to receive sympathy from the world. What Nadesan’s terrorist organization has been able to do is not elimination of recruitment of minors for war but the elimination of Tamil children under 18 years of age all together, during the history of the conflict as a whole.

"We have consistently called for the 100 percent implementation of the internationally supported ceasefire agreement of February 2002 for regaining the rights of the Tamils.

Well, Nadesan must be a busy man. Busy or deaf and blind for sure. Else, he would have at least seen and read the CFA violation record of the LTTE before sitting down to write this child’s letter to the Head of the United Nations. Mr. Ban Ki Moon should be so moony to even come close to believing this Nadesan crap, to say the least.

We also cooperated fully with the Norwegian facilitators, respecting the wishes of the international community, in drafting and implementing the above mentioned agreements, that on immediate humanitarian relief, that on de-escalation and that on post tsunami reconstruction, that were later abrogated by the Sri Lankan State.

Yes, Nadesan and the gang did cooperate with the Norwegians, that is all too known, is it not! Otherwise, they, too, would have been bundled out of the country by the LTTE along with the EU monitors. Cooperation is the key word. At the height of the cooperation Nadesan is taking about, a certain head of the Monitoring Mission even went the distance to recommend that the LTTE should also have the right to the sea. And when the LTTE forcefully closed the Mavil Aru anicut, the SLMM ruled that it is a direct violation of the CFA and requested the LTTE to immediately open it, which got no satisfactory "cooperation" from the LTTE (anyways, I am happy it happened that way, so must be millions of others!).So much so for Nadesan’s co-operation And 100% implementation of the CFA.

"It should be obvious to the international community by now that our organization has demonstrated its readiness to cooperate with the international community.

Aha! Now it is the time for Nadesan to be moony. Yes Nadesan and his gang has proved it to the world alright, if such proving means pioneering in terrorist tactics to massacre thousands of people and destroying a country.

It should also be obvious to the international community that there is only one path open to regain the rights of the Tamil people and that is for the international community to recognize the sovereignty of the Tamil nation.

Of course, this is the line Nadesan should have written over and over again throughout his letter, deleting his other crap, because it is the famous line that was used by the now dead and gone terrorists like Balasingham and Tamil Chelvan when they tried to project to the world that the LTTE are fighting a just cause. But Nadesan should be mindful that those two terrorists died without any success, and neither would Nadesan have any by talking crap like this that even a child would see as utter nonsense.

It is rather best not to write anything if you can not get your act together. Terrorists are good at terrorizing, not at diplomacy. Terrorists are terrorists, not Gandhis.

“Nadei sún” in Sinhala would literally mean a group of people coming to a disastrous end following their own stupidity.

May Nadesan and his gang face the same fate too!
