KHILAFAT PLEDGE

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamath, Sri Lanka.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, an organization with members in 193 countries, celebrating this year (2008) the 100th anniversary of the system of spiritual leadership known as ‘Khilafat’. This system has existed since the passing of the Founder of the Community in 1908.

Under this system Ahmadi Muslims throughout the world are united under the leadership and guidance of the ‘Khalifa’ (Caliph) who is the Head of the Community worldwide. The total unity of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community makes it unique amongst all Muslim groups.

The current Khalifa is Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad who was elected to lead the Community in April 2003. Although based in London he is accessible to all Ahmadi Muslims worldwide and in this respect he is marking this Centenary Year with a number of foreign tours.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad is the fifth Khalifa and he continues to deliver the same message as his four predecessors. That is to urge Ahmadi Muslims worldwide to become closer to God Almighty, through their prayers and good acts and to serve mankind irrespective of creed, caste or colour.

The Centenary of Khilafat is being marked by a number of events both in the Sri Lanka and elsewhere. On 27th May, 2008) Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad addressed members of the Community worldwide via the Community’s international satellite channel ‘MTA International’ from the Excel Centre in East London. During his address, the Ahmadiyya Caliph took the following pledge for solidarity to Khilafat from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community world over via LIVE transmission.

In the name of Allah, most Gracious and ever Merciful

PLEDGE OF THE NEW CENTURY OF AHMADIYYA KHILAFAT

Taken on 27th May 2008.

I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, Who is One and has no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.

Today on the completion of 100 years of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya, we make a solemn pledge, in the name of Allah the Exalted, that we shall continue to strive until the last moments of our lives for the propagation of Islam and Ahmadiyyat and shall convey the name of Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), to the ends of the world. For the accomplishment of this secret obligation, we shall always keep our lives dedicated to God and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and, by offering the greatest sacrifice, shall keep the flag of Islam aloft in every country of the world. We also pledge that for the safeguarding of the system of Khilafat and for its consolidation, we shall continue to strive, till our last breath, and exhort our children and their progenies, to always remain attached to Khilafat and benefit from its blessings, so that Khlafat-e-Ahmadiyya continues safely till the end of time and the propagation of Islam continues till the Day of Judgment through the Ahmadiyya movement and the flag of Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), flies higher than all other flags of the world. O, God! grant us the capacity to fulfill this pledge.

Allahumma Amin, Allahumma Amin, Allahumma Amin.
