Political Solution Madness It Is The Time For A Fullstop.

It is Task Completed for Task Force 1, a great time for all patriotic citizens of our nation. The image of a lone soldier knee deep in the picturesque sea with the Lion Flag off Yak Thuduwa (Devil’s Point) may achieve an iconic status among future generations. It is a testament to the courage and determination of our brave sons and daughters of the armed forces and a picture that simply shows what a truly beautiful country we live in, a picture which speaks the thousand words of serendipity.

It was the Sinhalese who built this island into a proud island nation, the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, the great statue of Aukana, the endless Parakrama Samudraya and the beautiful frescoes of Sigiriya are all testament to the pride of our nation.

The Sinhalese were no distinct ethnic group, instead a group of tribes united into a common nation by King Pandukabaya. Throughout history, numerous people from abroad came and settled but there is not a single record of anyone leaving this island due to persecution. Even the Portuguese who inflicted the most brutal treatment to the Sinhalese people during their time of conquest were protected from Dutch persecution by the Sinhalese themselves.

To the Sinhalese people, any benign person from abroad was simply treated as one of their own. King Nisankamalla was as much a Sinhalese, despite himself being from Orissa, so were the Nayakar Kings, despite being of Malabar origin. No Sinhalese person would ever consider Mohideen Beg to be a foreigner, despite the fact that he was a Bengali Muslim. The same can be said about Abraham Kovoor a Malabar Syrian Christian later turned agnostic, apart from the cunning who profited from ignorance and superstitions. Last but not least, the late Arthur C. Clarke.

Ethnic and religious barriers do not exist in our war against terrorism. The founding commander of the Special Forces was Col. Fazly Lafir, who died defending the Mooladuva (Mulaithivu) Camp. Capt. Nilam, Maj. Muttalif and Col. Medin were among those who made Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol live up to its reputation as the Mahasohon Brigade. Hon. Lakshman Kadiragama represented all people of Sri Lanka to the world as the foreign minister. The same can be said about our cricket team were national treasure Muttiah Muralitharan is the greatest hero of them all.

This is why Sri Lanka does not need a political solution whatsoever.

Throughout the years the word “political solution” was parroted by foreigners (and their faithful local born mongrels desperate to scavenge their leftovers). The most recently being Robert Blake who is currently engaged in a massive John D’Oyly style PR campaign after telling Sri Lanka to defeat the LTTE with a political solution without telling his own country to seek a political solution with Al-Qaeda first. For those unaware of John D’Oyly, he was one of the key figures involved in the British conquest of the Kandyan Kingdom. In order to deceive the chieftains, D’Oyly’s first goal was to learn Sinhalese and Buddhism and pretend to be a Buddhist. The rest is history!

Giving political autonomy and special privileges to the Tamils of the north and east will solve nothing, but instead it will give impetus to more political bargaining.

Already the UPF is at it (http://www.lankaweb.com/news/items08/161108-4.html) asking for a Tamil Provincial Council for the hill country, soon we may see a resurgence of similar demands from the Moors of Gal Amuna (Kalmunai). Next the Colombo Chetti’s, the Bhoras, the Veddhas, the Malays, the Telugu speaking Ahiguntaka people, the Africans of Halawata and the Chinese people will end their long standing principle of peaceful coexistence and be inspired to ask for autonomy and special privileges. Even the Sinhalese may rekindle castism, Negambo may end up as a special Catholic district or the Southern Province may require autonomy based on the Matara Sinhala Dialect. In short, the madness will have no end.

What should be done is implement a proper policy of integration. The Tamil people should be shown where they went wrong and how the secessionist daydreams of Sundaralingam (mythical Tamil Eelam) ultimately resulted in nothing more than carnage.

Already, the Tamils are highly privileged to have their language being given official status despite themselves being a minority. On this ground, the Malay people deserve their mother tongue to be given official status mainly in gratitude for not demanding and bargaining at all. The Veddhas deserve similar treatment with the added reason of their language like Sinhalese being unique to the island of Sri Lanka.

The downside of making Tamil a national language of Sri Lanka was that it gave Tamil secessionists further impetus to promote segregation of the Tamils, something that would not have happened had the Tamils spoken their mother tongue and learned Sinhalese like the Malays, a majority of Tamil speaking Moors and Veddas. Nevertheless, abroad the hypocrite Diaspora has no problem in speaking Tamil at home and educating their children in English, Italian, French, German or Norwegian!

The notion of getting the majority Sinhalese to learn Tamil is as ludicrous as a political solution. The Finns of Finland are not required to learn Swedish, the language of 8% of the population, despite Swedish being an official language. Had such a notion been implemented in Spain, every Spaniard would have to learn Basque, Galician and Catalan in addition to Spanish. The only effect such a policy will have is create a new class of Tamil Tuition Masters (hopefully not like English Tuition Master Sakwithi Ranasinghe) who would profit immensely like the French Immersion scams of Canada.

Many countries that preach us give autonomy to the Tamils implement stiff integration in their own countries true to the spirit of western double standards. The British struggle to integrate the Urdu and Bengali speaking people by teaching them English, likewise the Dutch face a huge problem with Moroccans and Turks who cannot speak Dutch so does Sweden with numerous Afghan, Iraqi and Albanian immigrants in Malmo who cannot speak Swedish. Germany successfully integrated the 5 million or so Turks by having them learn German. Last but not least, come the good old French who would even make an American tourist say cederom instead of CD-ROM!

So, to solve our problems only one thing need to be done, ensure that those who killed Selliah Parameswar, the Hindu priest who blessed President Mahinda Rajapakshe at Viharaya (Vakarai) get a good taste of their own medicine. Then integrate our country under the Lion Flag. Fullstop.
