UNFOLDING EVENTS FRUSTRATE TAMIL TIGERS AND THE TAMIL NET RIDICULES BY TELLING ‘FOOD TO HOODWINK’

Obviously frustrated by the unfolding Tamil Nadu scenario in which Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi, in a reversal of policy, proposes no stoppage of war in Sri Lanka and with the expected ceasefire not even in distant sight, the pro-LTTE Tamil Net website paraphrased all simply by the headline ‘Food to Hoodwink- War to Continue.’

Like in the Norwegian sponsored one, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) could have expected another rejuvenation if the Tamil Nadu film directors and politicians delivered another ceasefire on a platter like the West together with Ranil Wickremesinghe did using the brains of Anton Balasingham then. (it was Balasingham himself who wrote the Ceasefire Agreement for Norwegian negotiator Eric Solheim)

By food to hoodwink - the Tamil Net obviously ridiculed the declaration in the Indo-Lanka joint statement that said “As a gesture of goodwill, India has decided to send around 800 tonnes of relief material to Sri Lanka for the affected civilians in the North.” It was not food for civilians the LTTE had in mind. It was indeed a ceasefire imposed on Sri Lanka in the name of civilians they and the Chennai film directors were interested in. In fact , even Karunanidhi, by the resignation threat had no intention to let his parliamentarians resign for the LTTE. He was only posturing politics. Karunanidhi at the end emerged the winner by only being able to put his opponent Vaiko in jail with the agony of unending litigation to follow. His heir apparent Kanimozhi, who handed over the letter of resignation safely to her father, to be destroyed at anytime convenient for him was fully unscathed, giggling in the pictures , when External Affairs Minister Mukherji visited her father.

Watching all this in distress and probably reflecting the disgust of its parent the LTTE, the Tamil Net was now attempting to clutch at straws by stating: “Karunanidhi's reversal has not gone down well with many sections of politicians, sources in Chennai said. The PMK of Dr Ramados, Communist Party of India (CPI) and the pro-Tamil nationalist Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) are expected to dissent the present decision in the next All Party Meeting and press for an immediate end to the war,” -as if they were great political forces in Tamil Nadu!

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa , the determined soldier , tells that every time in the past when LTTE was on the verge of defeat , they used outside forces to get over the difficulty , rearm and fight back. This time the LTTE for the first time has failed in that strategy. With all these ominous signs emerging and the Sri Lankan security forces carefully inching towards its goal of Kilinochchi day by day, the end seems to be in sight, finally. It is time for nightmares for Prabhakaran, who is pathetically ill at his prime age of 53.
