LTTE Denied Access to US Records
The LTTE was designated as a terrorist organization by the United States after
assessment of information compiled by the US State Department. The LTTE hierarchy who felt
humiliated and frustrated at this unexpected blow has filed a motion with a Court of
appeal in the United States insisting that the LTTE does not pose any threat to the
security of the United States and did not qualify as a terrorist organization under US
law. The claim of the LTTE for right of access and the release of classified records that
led to the designation of the LTTE as a terrorist organization has been rejected by the
