MY HEART BEAT STOPS WHEN........?

I was born a Sinhalese to a middle class Sinhala family . I am very proud to be a Sinhalese and to be called a Sri Lankan. We Sinhalese have a proud history too.We have faced many battles,some have won and some have lost,but still we survive as a nation for the last two thousand five hundred years or more.

There is no other country for Sri Lankans or Sinhalese to call home other than Sri Lanka. After Independence we had leaders father-son combination,father-mother-daughter combination and so on nearly about eleven or twelve leaders who tried their best on their own way to bring peace and prosperity to our motherland.

We had ups and downs in the course of that period ,but never ever had a very sad and unfortunate period like this in our lives.When we read the news papers and watch T.V. our heart beats stops when we hear and see the headlines of today. Our political leaders and the nation in whole should take the blame for this unfortunate happennings in our country.

Our Sinhala leaders whether Govt.or Opposition didnt have guts or strength to put a full stop to this Tamil rebellion when it started in 1983. Every Sinhala leader took this very lightly and they even called these terrorists "our brothers". What kind of brothers are they when they kill thousands of innocents every day in our land.

For a person like me who loves my country cannot take this kind of headlines everyday. Few to quote " L.T.T.E kill Foreign Minister Kadirgama, L.T.T.E. kill President Premadasa,L.T.T..E. kill Rajiv Ghandi, L.T.T.E. build an Air strip and have aircrafts, L.T.T.E reinforcing their sea tigers, Balasingham was given a helicopter ride to Killinochichi by S.L,A.F." and many more headlines like these brings heart attack to any Sinhalese who loves his country genuinely.Our country should be first priority to any Sinhalese. You are nothing without a country.

To bring our country back to normal we need a strong fearless leader who can take brave decisions for the sake of our people.I hope Our current President is capable to bring our country back to Peace and take us forward to the future. How can all these things happen in our once peaceful buddhist country when we Sinhalese are the majority and having a Sinhalese Govt with a Sinhalese leader.

My heart beats stops when I read in the news papers how one of our own former Sinhala leader gave instructions to our armed forces to stop fighting when we were about to beat the hell out from L.T.T.E. terrorists in the north,not once but several times. My hearts beats stops when I read about Army higher up gives our battle plans and secrets to the enemy for millions of Rupees, How Army general makes a deal for out dated guns and gun boats etc for our armed forces, How one of our former Prime Minister allowed arms containers to go freely to the north to L.T.T.E. terrorists. etc. Can any Sinhala son or daughter who loves our beautiful land take these kind of headlines anymore. Dont you feel something for your country? Dont you feel that you were let down by all these politicians all these years.

We need to be ashamed of ourselves for not stand up unitedly as a nation. It's high time we keep our differences aside and face as one to every national issue which faces our country. Be a true Sinhala son and daughter and show the whole world that we Sinhalese are really Religious, Peace loving, Innocent, trustworthy, entertaining people.

To make our country proud and happy we need headlines like the following " Sri Lanka won the world cup in cricket", Lafir world billiards champion,Jayasinghe won a silver medal in olimpics, Murali breaks the world record" etc.not "Sinhalese kill Tamils, Sinhala man hijacked a plane, Sinhalese massacre muslims, Sinhalese rapes women in Sri Lanka" etc.Our leaders and Maha sanga should get together and bring our nation back to the glorious days of yesteryear. Instead of roaming around the world with their families and friends our Ministers and Govt.officials should concentrate on our day to day public services and bring prosperity to our land.

Past is past,dont waste our time and everyone's time by talking and argueing the past mistakes in T.V.channels and in news papers. We poor masses needs action by our leaders not lectures which we have heard on and on for the last fifty eight years. Let us build our country together with all our citizens partcipation irrespective of colour, party or religion and live a very happy life for ever and ever.Our country blessed with the arrival of Lord Buddha three times and we have a long history of buddhist leaders who lead our country in war and peace.

My heart beat stops when I see police baton charge the maha sanga on the streets of Colombo and other places.These things should not be happened in this buddhist country. Instead of just wasting valuable time unnecessarily I prefer our Maha Sanga does some valuable services to our country and to our citizens. Through our religion we can bring Peace and prosperity to our beloved country. We need to love one another instead of killing and fighting and destroying our economy culture, and our beautiful landscape.

Our country was called "Serendib, Paradise and many more beautiful names by outsiders. We can build our nation together if our current leaders show the correct path without fighting each other. Eradicate Corruption, Drugs, and all vices from our soil. Bring Discipline to the country in whole and I know we can do it if all have the will power to do it. We Sinhalese with our other faiths should live side by side in good faith and bring our country to the twenty first century. I hope our new president and his team with the assistance from our Maha sanga and all others will lead us to a better future. We need to take lessons from countries like Japan,China,Malaysia,India etc as they are going forward in a faster track.

My heart beat stops when I see in the news about our young involves in drugs and other vices more and more. We need to have tough laws and regulations to catch and bring these culprits who bring and sells these to our our citizens to justice. We need a clean police force rather than having corrupt policemen on our roads. We should not fear to bring a corrupt person, Murderer, Thief or a Terrorist to justice at all. Our citizens should help the Govt.to catch and punish those who bring ashamed to our country.

Help the Govt.to bring peace to the nation first and then together we can build our country with the participation of all citizens to bring prosperity and a just society for our peoples. May God helps us to do just that. Long Live Sri Lanka !
