MEDIA RELEASE November 25, 2008

Tamil Tiger Terror Fronts In Canada Organize Events To Honour TheirBlack Tiger Suicide Bombers and Maniacal Killers To Boost Their Funds

The front organizations of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) which is designated as an international terrorist organization are once again holding events in various cities of Canada to remember their “heroes” amongst the Black Tiger Suicide Bombers, Pistol Gang Members, Trained Assassins and other Maniacal Killers who have wrecked havoc by targeting civilians, leaders of democratic political parties, government installations, and members of the security forces in Sri Lanka over the past 32 years. The LTTE uses one of their lesser known organizations to book space for these events whilst the known front groups such as the World Tamil Movement, CTCongress, Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, Tamil Eelam Society of Canada, FACT, etc. work behind the scenes to intimidate Diaspora members to participate and contribute funds including gold jewellery to the Tamil Tigers’ war chest. Even Tamil Student Bodies at York University, Carleton University, Waterloo University, etc. are also known to have used the respective university premises supposedly to hold Tamil cultural programs, but in reality conducted memorials to honour these brutal killers by re-creating ‘Martyr’s Graves’, as seen in their websites denoted as “Maaveera Event” or Great Hero’s Day.

The LTTE front organizations have of recent times moved their “Heroes Day” which coincides with the birthday of the terror leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran, the mass murderer wanted by INTERPOL for numerous crimes including the assassination of India’s former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sri Lanka’s President, Ranasinghe Premadasa, to privately owned space, as they have been black listed and denied public space for this event. Large posters carrying pictures of the terror leader have been put up on store fronts of Tamil businesses in Toronto announcing the event, giving the following locations and event dates”

1. Bollywood Banquet Hall, 300 Danforth Road, Toronto – November 26th, 5 – 10 p.m.

2. Ecole Secondaire Marie-Anne, 100 rue Sauve Est., Montreal, Nov. 28th, 6 – 10 p.m.

3. Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, Scarborough, November 25th (We understand that this location was obtained by the LTTE front by using the Federal

Liberal Party MP and Toronto City Councillor who depend on the Tamil Diaspora Votes to lobby the centre on their behalf.)

“UK based LTTE fronts have claimed in anticipation of the coming 'suicide bombers day' celebrations planned in London on November 27 that 373 young men and women have died so far as suicide bombers in their unsuccessful attempt to create a separate state carved out of Sri Lanka. Quoting Kilinochchi sources, the LTTE local media said from November 27 1982 to November 20 2008, 274 male and 104 female suicide bombers had blown themselves up for their cause. Former child soldiers abducted from homes, schools, temple festivals and even playgrounds had been brainwashed and trained to become suicide bombers.

Unfortunately, Canada’s Anti-Terrorism Laws do not prohibit such events aimed at glorifying terrorism, which are obviously intended to raise funds for terrorist activities including the procurement of weapons, even though the latter purpose is criminalized by the Act. Canada should immediately take added measures to prevent terrorist movements such as the LTTE from making a mockery of Canada’s laws.

Yours very truly,

Mahinda Gunasekera
Honorary President
