ONCE AGAIN , PRO-LTTE ELEMENTS THREATEN THE LIFE OF OPPOSITION LEADER JAYALALITHA IN TAMIL NADU

By Walter Jayawardhana

A pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Canadian group has threatened to kill former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the current Opposition Leader of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembley J. Jeyalalitha.

The death threat against Jayalalith , who is also General Secretary of the All India Anna Thiravida Kazhakam (AIADMK) is a recurrence of a similar threat against her last year , and it is believed that she is on the top of a hit list by the LTTE in India together with another woman leader Congress Head Sonia Gandhi.

This time the threat against Jayalalitha has come from a Canada based organization called World Tamil Protection Organization, believed to be a front organization of the LTTE, one of many that are functioning in Canada.

Jayakumar, a former AIADMK Minister making a complaint to the Tamil Nadu police said , a man name Tamil Maindan has sent a letter containing the death threat against Jayalalitha.
The letter allegedly said, “Jayalalitha will suffer the same fate as former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto , who died in a bomb blast for continuing to oppose Sri Lanka.

The LTTE killed former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by a suicide bomber named Dhani, in the Tamil Nadu suburb of Siriperumbudur near Chennai.

Jayakumar file the complaint with Chennai Police Commissioner R. Sekar, he said. Meanwhile the Advocate Wing of the AIADMK has filed also a writ with madras High Court seeking additional security for the lady.

It is believed that Jayalalitha has provoked pro-LTTE elements all over the world by coming out strong against Tamil Nadu protests in favour of the LTTE.
