Sri Lanka"s Leadership Is Slowly Paving The Way Towards What's Best For The Nation Where The LTTE Are Surely Losing Their Momentum!

Indeed it is the combination of pragmatism and realism in equal measure that makes the Sri Lankan President the Hon.Mahinda Rajapaksa, as unique an individual as he is and unlike his jingoistic predecessors in previous regimes whether it be Presidents or Prime Minister he is someone who walks the walk and talks the talk, true not only to his convictions but also to the underlying realities which surround the situation in Sri Lanka today.

It has also indicated the direction in which he intends to manouver and has been since his inauguration as President and illustrates many qualities about him which can only be measured as beneficial to the Nation plagued with terrorism and synonymously in many of his recent interviews a clear message has been sent out to the LTTE and its leader Velupillai Prabhakaran that here is a President with whom it would be futile for the LTTE to play their games of the past without objectively staring down the wrong end of a figurative barrel aimed squarely at them to initiate their ultimate destruction, cripple their resources and eventually send then packing if they denounced his terms of moderation and liberality which curiously many see as a waste of time nonetheless based on LTTE arrogance!

Through his cognizance and evaluation( also the opinion of many military and civilian analysts) when Sri Lanka's President says,"although to all appearances the ceasefire has failed, peace is not far away" there seems to be a certain awareness on which his rationale is based and many beleive is impending about the LTTE that they are coming apart at the seams despite all the turbulences they have created within the country recently. Their vulnerabilities have certainly been exposed through their hastilly carried out albeit failed acts of provocation, failed attempts to initiate a Sinhalese led civilian backlash though the bombing of innocent civilian targets, their failed attempts at aerial bombardment through homemade kit assembled aircraft tantamount to a post Sinhalese new year fireworks display, and all the exposures of their transparencies relative to their criminalities revealed through mendacious acts unaccaptable to decent society where mainstream Sinhalese and other ethnicities also grossly affected by the LTTE have maintained their honorable resilience for all the world to see indicative that the LTTE are going nowhere other than to their self projected collective destruction!

In a relatively simple interpretation given all the intelligence acquired through diligent and dedicated research when to all appearances the conflict with the Tamil Tigers seems to have resumed for the sheer necessity of it, the indelible reality which the Tigers themselves are reluctant to admit is that the Army is is inflicting crushing defeats on them and making many inroads into areas of former LTTE domination while systematically reducing them into veritable rubble!

And the objectives of the Armed Forces to gradually immobilise the terrorists now seems a distinct possibility regardless of what is presented through Pro LTTE propaganda and their friendly western allies if there are any of these remaining beyond a residue! Somewhat unfortunately it is visibly apparent they do. For whatever reason that news sources such as the BBC and Hindustan Times in particular appear to be proactive sources of bi-partisan LTTE bias regardless of attempts to be ambiguous one can easily read between the lines and see through their transparencies.Their doomsday predictions about LTTE air cabability, the cowardly attacks on civilians described at times in near jubilation albeit in undertones apparent to the more discerning and even hints at the acquisition of a mini-sub which mercifully for the bearer of the tidings was quickly snuffed out to avoid embarrassment as a tongue in cheek referral to the edible variety!!

The President and his aides now have the confidence to express believe that rebel leader, Prabhakaran, appears to have trepidations about the real circumstances of the LTTE and where they are headed indicated by many LTTE moves bordering on mass confusion and in fighting just as much as the bleatings of the so called "military"( LTTE's interpretetation of someone dressed in fatigues with no military background!) spokesperson Rasiah Illyanthiran whose baring of fangs at the Sinhalese often conceals a veiled hint of submission and a call to negotiations! The continued chipping away at the LTTE's shell of resistance will eventually break his (Prabhakaran's) will where the LTTE would more than likely relent their aggression and end up pleading for a renewal of negotiations (if they have now acquired a distaste for cyanide that is) although given their past history whether this will be of any benefit to the Nation as opposed to an all out offensive to overrun the LTTE completely once indicated by the leadership of the armed forces, debatable as the better option.
What remains for the President in all his astute wisdom in the midst of all the isolations of the LTTE both Globally and Nationally by virtue of their unrelenting attitude of mendaciousnes is to garner a bushel of courage towards standing up to them to convey a clear message that they are no bargaining power in Sri Lanka's Ethnic Issue and are veritably ostracized and criminalized from all matters pertaining to Sri Lanka with the obvious exception of the the Sri Lankan Tamils where no LTTE or their proxy TNA Representation are acceptable and the only source that the Government is interested in making mediations with towards a negotiated settlement relative to the devolution of power or restoring the rights of their community as part of a system of Central Government! Case in point being the LTTE have to be made to understand that they as terrorists have no say in any matters relating to Sri Lanka's freedom loving non terrorist supportive Tamils who have to a greater proportion distanced themselves from Prabhakaran's criminals and are sworn towards conducting their own decision making under a more politically inclined leadership, one which does not deal in terror and weaponry! and aligned to the Central Government administered from Colombo!
