Presidential Wisdom Needs A Blend Of Exercising Caution Towards A Dubious Unknown!

As the first of May 2006 has dawned in somewhat austere fashion by comparison with previous decades Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has stressed emphatically what he envisions as a perfect formula for the much sought after peace in the Nation and has highlighted the importance of working class unity as an important tenet towards being a compelling force for the unity of others which, translated into a more perceptible concept suggests overall National unity which can neither be hampered by the threat of terrorism nor compromised through capitulating to unfeasible demands by those who envision National Unity as a setback to their own agendas!

Fast gaining momentum as the long awaited redeemer of the Sinhala Nation, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse in his May Day message reflected the imperative need for Peace and its acheivement within the country as being superimposed indelibly in the hands and actions of all her people particularly the working class who need to be role models towards finding a solution towards arriving at a sustainable peace which according to his vision and an important one at that ! will not be digressed towards accommodating those who have no empathy towards contributing to rebuild the Nation where the all important ingredient of unity is reverted to the back burner.

While outlining the necessity to remain united,'to achieve a solution to bring about peace in the country as the foremost priority he has said that it is also a time when a great deal of sweat and toil are required towards the blessing of peace that the Nation yearns for and reflected through its working class towards posterity. This sadly is currently being greatly hampered due to conditions prevailing and instigated mostly by the impure designs of subversive groups mainly pointing towards the LTTE hell bent on disrupting the normal order of things within the land while contributing ever so increasingly towards their complete abandonment by normal, rational and peace loving people becomig more and more convinced that it is indeed the LTTE who are contributing to the downfall of Sri Lanka and need to be quelled, put down and eliminated through whatever means available given their reluctance to lay down arms, denounce their true objectives of secession and merge with mainstream society like the rest of their Tamil brothers and sisters a greater part of whom long for peace as much as all the nationalities needing to share amicably and peacefully this resplendent land of so much self inflicted sorrows!

This then is a Presient who continues to show his resolve towards overcoming the arduous task of restoring peace to the Nation, where his determination to settle all the related matters within his mandate seems a foregone conclusion where burdening future generation towards finding the much needed panacea through a peace formula is not on his agenda and all his manouverings in the current sea of unrest relating to the LTTE appears to be totally committed towards a firm resolution conducive to a terror free Nation which if accomplished to its fullest perspective would elevete much more than the amiable congeniality displayed wherever he presents his credentials and a huge accomplishment which many of his predecessors have thus far failed to do.

As the present bloodshed in Sri Lanka instigated by the LTTE continues the pragmatism of this president grows that it is through peaceful and exemplary means alone that Sri lanka will eventually lay anchor in the harbour of success and tranquility. The unity which needs to be compounded into unbreakable strength that has sustained people's revolutions in the past recent history of the world therefore needs to be deviated from the bullet to the ballot which in essence it has! as much as the last ballot has swept in a President in whose hands the reins towards the future rests through his convictions that dialogue and peaceful negotiations is the key towards a tranquil Sri Lanka but lest he forgets, the road ahead may be full of perils and not necessarily a smooth one with danger lurking around every corner in the form of unrelenting terrorists who need to be dealt with the right option as and when necessary.

Readiness to shed more sweat to stop more bloodshed is indeed a noble concept and perhaps the only means possible towards a New Sri Lanka for all her people but it should not be an extension of an all trusting, condescending" and unsuspecting Sinhala Nation towards what might be easily misconstrued by the enemy outside the gates of conformity that it is capitulation through weakness and therfore justifiable towards appropriation through the elimination of the subjects standing in the way of their own objectives which to the greater part are detrimental to Sri Lanka!

The President consequently will find himself the cynosure of all concerned, some with great skepticism of his capabilities and those of his emissaries towards progressing in the right direction if and when the next round of Peace Talks ever gets off the ground as on one hand the LTTE are in denial of all the attrocities they have surreptitiously re- initiated in Sri Lanka as part of their cunningly devised game plan towards international image re- building with a little help from friends such as Norway and the Government ever ready to accommodate their bluff rather than calling it could easily find itself in a catch 22 situation where a lowering of its guard could be disastrous to the Nation if the smokescreens set up by the LTTE are not blown away and their vulnerabilities and insincerities exposed towards obliteration!

Presidential Wisdom therefore needs A Blend Of Exercising Caution Towards A Dubious Unknown towards being better safe than sorry!
