Continuing To Safeguard The Sovereign Rights Of Sri Lanka With Minimal Rhetoric!

October 3rd 2006

When will those involved with restoring a normal order in a realistic sense beyond the rhetoric come to the logical conclusion that actions must speak louder than words regarding the situation in Sri Lanka today? Presidential pragmatism aside, is not the real issue one about eliminating the destructive capabilities of the LTTE now that the Armed Forces have the upper hand and have them on the run? Aren't these internationally condemned terrorists who have no bargaining chips left and have no right to restitution beyond being brought to justice if not within the confines of Sri Lanka alone, at least before an International Tribunal if the International Community pleads on their behalf for such an eventuality based on a humanitarian respect towards whatever rights that may be garnered by way of their belonging to the human race despite the inhumanities associated with them, as a civilised way of resolving the issue despite what they truly deserve!

This ever prevaricating concept about "talking to the LTTE leader" which is beginning to sound more of a figure of speech at two ends of a seesaw as the leadership at best is either non existent or elusive where even if Prabhakaran the man is flushed out of hiding forcibly he is more than likely to swallow that cyanide capsule around his neck being the imbecile he is as all thoughts about a peace dialogue would probably evaporate as he wets his pants when he sees the Sri Lankan tour de force awaiting him as he knows not what fate lies ahead whether it be the hangman's noose or a program of rehabilitation where the latter option seems unlikely so what is the use of all this proposed renewed dialogue? The Sri Lankan authorities might be better off playing "pin the tail on the donkey" rather than trying to get a response from it!

A it has bee aptly described a thousand times over albeit falling more on deaf than attentive ears The LTTE is a terrorist rebel group holding people in the North and East to ransom where it is more an obligation for the Sri Lankan authorities to liberate them from the grief and pain which is more an exarcerbation of their shattered lives than any dignified existence where no Sri Lankan should be forced or allowed to live under any authority illegaly dispensed by terrorists which needs to be viewed as a basic and fundamental human right of every Sri Lankan and it takes more than lip service to accomplish this in any feasible manner!!

Of the more realistic options in the climate of Sri Lanka today as stringent and harsh as it sounds, the time for dialogue with the saner and non rabid of the Tamil Community has to be shelved where the Sri lankan Armed Forces need to be given the go ahead towards routing, dismantling and negating all LTTE operations and mopping up whatever residue is left under the very efficient military operations which have now driven them almost to the brink of oblivion as an alternative to any LTTE reluctance to lay down the arms.

The illusionary de-facto areas which the LTTE to little avail set up in the past while deluding themselves of a non existent secession need to be dismantled beyond repair towards any terrorist continuity and all areas and people held by them freed. While this may sound unattainable in the minds of some skeptics the actions of the Forces based on their phenomenal level of success in this direction speak for themselves and worth every bit of the effort towards a terrorist free Sri Lanka. It seems also very prudent and feasible despite the clarions of the peace activists that in the present circumstances retaliatory affirmative action a la Maj.Gen Fonseka seems a foregone conclusion!

That the LTTE under their puerile yet murderous leadership has boxed themselves into an alley of no return becomes fairly oibvious by the sound of their own rhetoric now pleading for moderation and restraint on the part of the Armed Forces and very indicative of a weakness never seen before despite their pockets of arrogance in the form of Thamilselvam and the lately much too silent Anton Balasingham whose defiance towards accomplishing Eelam is still much in evidence.

All of these responses by the LTTE somewhat ludicrously continue to be propped up by support from their erstwhile champions Norway which never relents from the effort despite it becoming more and more evident as being a wasted one.Their duplicity in Sri Lanka's Peace effort as being laced with LTTE bias has now become evident beyond the semblance of a doubt and the wherefores and whys towards their continued tolerance by the GOSL leaves little to the imagination as their vested interests also become glaringly apparent. Norway is an entity which truly needs to be jettisoned from any involvement in Sri Lanka's internal affairs which they have encroached upon without invitation beyond the call to monitor rather than dabble in with a conflict of interest!

A recent quote suggests that "Norway’s integrity as a peace broker and peace facilitator has been seriously exposed, virtually shattered on the rocks of candor, decency, honesty and forthrightness. Literature of many a land is full of fables, proverbs and anecdotes about the consequences of having unreliable people entrusted with something precious and valuable. Norway is able to call the tune in Sri Lanka because Aid Donor countries are turning the screws on Sri Lanka; an out and out blackmail.Norway is a country that has helped the LTTE in various ways, and is not only acting as a proxy to some of the rich nations of the world but it has its own motives to pursue as well." end quote and what an indelible reality this has turned out to be!

All attempts towards resolving Sri Lanka's woes associated with terrorism should realistically assume some kind of positive thrust towards finalization beyond mere dialogue where every Sri Lankan citizen should be under one flag, the one with a proud sword carrying lion which embodies the spirit of the Sinhala Nation and the Administration of the Government of Sri Lanka. The need to enjoy the privileges laid down by the constitution without reservation regardless of ethnicity where the extensions of freedom need to encompass all Sri Lankans is imperative and inherant. If this cannot be achieved by peaceful means due to the ignorant and wasteful impedence of the LTTE there should be no reservation that it need to be accomplished through law enforcement and the military decrees laid down in the Constitution towards the continuity of safeguarding the Sovereign Rights of Sri Lanka.
