Combined Responsibility Of The Administration And All Freedonm Loving Citizens Of Sri Lanka And The World To Rid The Nation Of The LTTE Menace!

Many political analysts in Sri Lanka today are showing much perplexity about the direction being taken by President Rajapakshe towards tackling the key issue\ facing Sri Lanka at the present time which could be envisioned as terrorist related even by the vision and hearing impaired and much to do with the LTTE who have to all intents and purposes commenced their Eelam War IV despite their rhetoric that they are still in quest of peace!!

President Rajapakshe seems to be sending a clear message to the Nation by his attitude that he appears somewhat confused about how to deal with the terrorist problem as well as the ethnic issue pertaining to the woes of the Tamil minority obviously interspersed yet divided as separate issues if one considers the needs of the Tamil community real and those of the LTTE as having no right to redress whatsoever as they are false proclaimers of being the overall representatives of the Tamil Community and are continuing their insurgent activities with impunity and unchecked!

There is also reason to believe that the President is swaying to the theme of the moderates who continue to believe that what is currently transpiring in Sri Lanka by way of the timed attacks by the LTTE on civiian and military targets as well as the LTTE attrocities being perpetrated in the North and the East could be resolved through dialogue with the murderous and conscienceless Tiger leadership hiding in the jungles of the Wanni where the terrorist leader is not only invisible but incoherent, retarded and ignorant except for his rabid desire to injure, main and kill at every turn and to even for a moment believe that this kind of a psychotic despot could be approached as man to man who stands to reason whether through mediators or not seems more foolhardy and unwise quite unbecoming of the calibre of the President despite his pragmatism and rational approach towards key issues as this is one issue he might have to view through the barrel of a cannon ere one is pointed at him in retrospect!

There are reports confirming one foolhardy presidential move (with all due respect to his high office ) where according to media reports as the very reliable source, he dispatched a confidential message to Vellupillai Prabhakaran and the LTTE through their various media proxies circulating in Sri Lanka proposing a two week ‘truce’ as a prelude to direct negotiations where the LTTE callously and indiscriminately responded with the attack on the bus carrying innocent civilians in Padaviya followed by the viciously orchestrated suicide bomb killing of Gen. Parami Kulathunga and just recently followed by the Kalpitiya attack and the marketplace bomb blast in Anuradhapura which has cost the Sinhala Dation dearly and the only Tiger responses to what might safely be termed this pragmatic and perhaps lunatic extension of an olive branch to murderous terrorists to come to the bargaining table where the Security of an entire nation continues to be compromised with no viable response by way of a show of strength by the Armed forces.

If there is no objective as well as an incentive to counter, confront and eliminate the LTTE from the face of Sri Lanka in a situation which seems to have no alternative and the concerns of the nation seem to be growing with each passing day perhaps Sri Lanka might as well be handed over on a platter to the LTTE while the tongue in cheek nature of this exhortation needs to be strictly observed!

Quoting a recent feature in the Asian Tribune attesting to the reality of the dilemma facing President Rajapakshe" Obviously the President has learned nothing from the sad fate of those Lankan and Indian leaders who believed in the possibility of a deal with the Tigers. Equally obviously his understanding of both the LTTE and the ethnic problem is deficient and defective. Does he really think that ‘maximum devolution within a unitary state’ can satisfy the Tigers, if he makes the offer personally, across a (doubtlessly well laden) table to Vellupillai Pirapaharan?" one can only reflect upon the sorry state of affairs Sri Lanka appears to be in as a direct result of Presidential prevaricating upon the proper remedial measures which should have been taken sometime back albeit better late than never where he in all probabilities needs to garner all international support towards sparing no thoughts about moderation in going after the LTTE within Sri Lanka and a greater Fait Acompli probably will never be reached by any other leader as much as the daunting challenge to rid the Nation of the menace of the LTTE once and for all!

Sadly yet very emphatically this is a time when Sri lanka needs to protect all her citizens from the attrocities of the LTTE which have to all intents and purposes been resumed ( damning the Peace Process and Ceasefire to Hell!) where the President through his particular brand of pragmatism provides inadvertent platforms to the rampaging LTTE terrorists and innocent civilians are caught up in a pathetic conflict which has never been of their own making and ironically there are manyTamils too caught in the crossfire which they are desperately trying to avoid in addition to Sinhala. Muslim and other ethnic minority villagers from rural areas in the North and East threatened by the Tigers and for the Government to pay lipservice to appease the likes of the United Nations and Foreign Aid donors including the duplicitous Norway while avoiding a more tangible means to counter this sudden terrorist onslaught seems to be a rank neglect of Administrative responsibility and a crying shame!

While there prevails the theory that the President's hands are tied due to International opinion the time is at hand for his hands to be freed of his own volition and by his own efforts towards directing operations conducive towards building a nation free of terrorism particularly associated with the LTTE where all ethnicities need to stand united behind him as the Commander of the Armed Forces while giving him all the support he needs to take the right direction towards the posterity of Sri Lanka where the moderate Tamils now have a pivotal role towards eliminating the LTTE from Sovereign Sri Lanka as their condemnations alongside those of their other ethnic counterparts particularly the majority Sinhalese and the Muslims must prevail over the objectives of terrorists who have no rights to their existences!

This perhaps is time appropriate for a leaf to be taken from the Israeli book on how to respond to murderous terrorists and complete retaliatory measures taken with compelling force inasmuch as Israel is now countering the attrocities of her enemies in the Mid-East in a no nonsense war against terrorism with obvious backing from powerful allies.All resources which are available towards the cause by way of the numerous foreign pledges of support from sources which have now outlawed the LTTE need to be garnered and all the Nations which have pledged support towards preserving Sri Lanka's Sovereignity and Territorial integrity while helping her defend against mendacious terrorists need to put their monies where their mouths are!
