Pandering To The Terrorists A La Norway Rather Than Isolating Them From The Non Terrorist Supportive Tamil Community and the Nation Could Be A Costly Administrative Error!

July 5th 2007

It has been heard recently in the newsmedia that the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) and the LTTE terrorists were holding crucial discussions in Kilinochchi currently despite the escalating violence between Government troops and the rebels in the North and East. It has been said concurrently on many an occassion that given more than four decades of play acting by the terrorists and the recent findings that one of the chief mediators of the rercent past Eric Solheim was a convicted felon in his native Norway what exactly is the Administration trying to accomplish by continuing to extend invitations to Norway to continue participating in Sri Lanka's Peace when to all intents and purposes they need to be veritably dumped in the same manner they were from their participation in Mid East Peace where all they did was botch up dismally the proceedings there and the world knows what happened as a result and nations like Lebanon reduced to a quagmire of hopeless and desperate people to this day!

It sounds ludicrous that the likes of SLMM head Lars Johan Solvberg and spokesman Thorfinur Omarsson were scheduled to hold discussions with LTTE 'peace secretariat' head S. Pulithevan and several other top rebel officials as reported, on various aspects relating to the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) and its monitoring scheduled to take place in the Wanni and while many analysts question the credibilities of this it also seems mind boggling that the Administration does not have the spine to jettison what seems painfully obvious as a bad choice as mediiators for a failed Peace Process which only provided a cover for the LTTE terrorists to regroup while also giving them an open invitation to further complicate Sri Lanka's problems. These are terrorists who given even a fractional leeway would only capitalise on it! and their innuendo laced theatrics and false pleadings of sincerity to peace can no longer be bought or accepted by any discerning source whether they are from the International Community which entails all the world powers who have their own approaches to resolving terrorism or any other source of any worth which wrongfully beleives the terrorists deserve any credibility as opposed to being wiped out in their entirety unless they capitulate towards the proposals of the Sri Lankan Administration to come clean or perish!.

It also seems remarkably incongruent that the Sri Lankan Administration rather than conscientiously objecting to such a bold and blatant move given the past history and track record of the terrorists as unrelenting, criminal and outlawed by the statutes and laws of the land as well as internationally have decided to invite the SLMM to further' negotiate ' with them which seems totally out of whack! while asserting that it is " a routine meeting but the first top level visit for some time. Several issues are to be discussed" according to The SLMM delegation which was scheduled to stay in Killinochchi during their 'discussion' related tenure and return to Colombo and one wonders what these several issues might be which have suddenly cropped up when they were not taken up in the course of several decades so is the Administration trying to delude themselves that anything worthwhile would come out of it beyond granting the LTTE terrorists undue recognition as opposed to continuing the Armed Forces' march towards eliminating them and asking Norway and her emmissaries to stay home and look after their own affairs! while perhaps looking for alternatives to revamp Sri Lanka's security and replenish the capabilities of the Armed Forces to engage and eliminate the terrorists in their entirety! It is the only way to restore Sri Lanka to even a semblance of her past glory and the term terrorist and all its associated concepts wiped off the boards completely with no compunctions!

In the past it has been painfully obvious that the Norwegian faction of the Monitoring Team were an LTTE friendly bunch who covertly helped them in their operations and were shamelessly found out where the contentious name of one Eric Solheim stands out as a confidence trickster and a charlatan whose past history has now surfaced globally! So what makes the rest of them ( the Norwegians) legitimate and worthy of trust towards Sri Lanka's desperate need towards a return to normalcy? Sri Lanka once overlooked the necessity to dump them when the cards were stacked heavily against their credibilities and should have been initiated as a final and irrefutable decision to the dismay and chagrin of a terrorist imperilled Nation but most embarassingly the Administration has once again decided to take the path which would further expose its reputation as a glutton for punishment and provide further platforms for LTTE's progress at a time when their backs need to be broken as a terror outfit and the only credibilities needing to be granted resting with the non terrorist supportive Tamils of Sri Lanka and the world over! They have cause far too much harm and distress to far too many to deserve any impunity and have earned thenselves the unenviable status of a source needing elimination!

It seems a token gesture on the part of the Sri Lankan Adminstrationto say through the Defence Ministry that " The Government will continue with all measures in the best interests of national security but at the same time we have said we have no problem with Norway continuing its peace efforts." This is being parochial and narrow minded synonymously towards the stark reality of the perils of granting any leeway to the criminalities of the LTTE terrorists which would be manifest through any further associations with Norway and to further say that "There has not been any fresh request to Norway" quoting Government sources seems a bifurcated expression towards either eating the cake and having it or shrugging off the responsibility of declaring to the nation that the Government simply does not have the courage to recognize what may be harmful to Sri Lanka as it would involve more than mere confrontation!
The Defence Ministry has also cited Britain and other countries taking stiff action in the best interest of national security to contain terrorism and that these governments did not draw criticism as much as what the Sri Lankan Government has had to face which just about sums up what the Administration needs to do and go after the LTTE terrorists using the stiffest action possible in the best interests of Sri Lanka or once again pay a severe price for having pandered to the LTTE with Norway as the mediator towards further compounding Sri Lanka's woes!

Consequently, pandering to the terrorists a la Norway rather than isolating them from the Tamil community and the Nation with a view towards eventualy eliminating them could be a costly administrative error!
