The Validity Of Territorial Integrity By Way Of Entitlement And Whose Right It Is !November 6th, 2006 The percentages alone of some 75% and increasing, of Sinhalese as opposed to a paltry 12% and decreasing, of Tamils, attest to this despite the aspirations of the LTTE to suggest bogusly and brazenly that there is such a place as a Tamil Homeland within the confines of Sri Lanka. It is not only totally untrue but misleading to the less perceptive about the internal affairs of Sri Lanka today. That it is a total distortion of facts goes without saying beyond any conjecture! Since it has been established beyond any reasonable doubt that there are no "other administrative areas" within Sri Lanka as suggested by some of these misguided journalists who continue to harp on the theme towards what end ? at times being unclear. It becomes intrinsically important to confound any in doubt that it is indeed the legal entitlement of the Government of Sri Lanka within its Constitution where it has every right to defend her Sovereign Territory, respond at any given time necessary with prompt military action as a Sovereign Nation when the countrys national security is threatened This matter clarified very justifiably by Sri Lanka's Defence Ministry and hardly needing any confirmation whether it be the BBC, ABC, CNN, VOA or the Timbuctoo Clarion as the case might be that are asking incongruous questions suggesting that Sri Lanka has no entitlement to this privilege but the answer etched in stone is Yes Indeed! and unquestionably so especially when the entity cited as demanding restitution in opposition happens to be a bunch of outlawed terrorists! The relevance of the right of any government of a Sovereign Nation to safeguard every bit of territory, in this case comparable to the entire surface area of Sri Lanka which needs to be put into proper perspective as not being " some one elses administrative area'' is synonymously linked to the issue. Simply put, if the Government of Sri Lanka decided to open or close any road network or roads linking any area for safety reason involving a threat from terrorists it is the Government's prerogative rather than the ludicrous presumption made by some bi-partisan radio station/s asking questions to the effect that there might be such an area as "someone elses's administrative area" within Sri Lanka. The so called de-facto LTTE controlled areas are fast becoming a myth as the Government Forces are gradually running them down with aerial and surface bombardment and reclaiming what has always been Sovereign Sri lankan Territory. There should be no misconceptions, misgivings or misunderstandings and perhaps to the strains of patriotic classical singer Amaradeva's rendition of " Mey Singhala Apage Ratai! Apa Ipadena Marena Ratai!.....". translated "This Is Our Sinhala Nation Where We Are Born And Die! While it may be speculated that the questions were relative to the Cease Fire Agreement signed between an unscrupulous previous government determined to cling to administrative power using the terrorist group the LTTE as pawns, whose aiding and abetting it has been determined by many analysts would be rewarded with the de-facto area they subsequently claimed as theirs, leading to the mythical Tamil Homeland! Much to the chagrin of the architecte of this scheme both the Wickremasinghe Administration and the Tamil Tigers it seems this agreement has long since become null and void through the mendacities of the terrorists who signed it with their own brand of duplicity in mind and their subsequent actions of violence unleashed against Sri Lanka. Something they built up towards, undercover of this agreement which has forced the Administration which replaced the previous one to take remedial action to set the record straight and implicity uphold the precepts surrounding Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity which the previous Administration seemed to know little or nothing about, in presenting opportunities for the terrorists to pursue their own agenda and if it was a deliberate act of betrayal on their part needing to be held accountable. It comes as no surprise with all kudos to his courageous and astute proclamation that Defence Minister the Hon.Keheliya Rambukwella has made it quite clear in no uncertain terms that the only border Sri Lanka has and is defined such is the border marked by the sea shore and there are no other borders for the country. That is also an affirmation as confirmed by the National Geological Survey and the Survey Department of Sri Lanka adept in these matters and accepted as authorities of boundary establishment unless the inteviewer/s who asked such a contentious and ignorant question was somehow confusing the area with that of Tamil Nadu in South India. The Hon. Minister has continued to emphasize also that, quoting a features item by Mr Walter Jayawardena of LankaWeb (certainly "proof of the pudding") that "the controversial Ceasefire Agreement the interviewer was basing his question upon was not one hundred percent correct nor legitimate and when the countrys national security is threatened the Government has every right to respond. The controversial ceasefire agreement was signed by a former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe with neither the consent of the countrys parliament, no national referendum and not even the final signature consent of the President of the country but connived and arranged by the former Norwegian ambassador said to have been done somewhat ' hurriedly'! Many experts have questioned the ceasefire agreements validity in law. At least one expert working for the Government, the head of the Peace Secretariat, Dr. Palitha Kohona who was formerly working for the UNs treaty section in New York has called it invalid in law. " end quote where there needs to be very little speculation or conjecture beyond the Government of Sri Lanka's entitlement! certainly not a bunch of proscribed terrorists'!
