Sending A Clear Message To The LTTE That
Their Credibilities Are Non-Existent!
That the Sri Lankan Peace Process has come to a standstill and going
into redundancy is fast becoming a reality and that it has in all probabilities
failed, seems to be a rational conclusion where one wonders whether
it is through neglect of the priorities by those involved from the Goverment
side or by way of the connivances of the LTTE where the latter seems
a distinct possibility given their present stance and their reluctance
to compromise towards necessities and accept the Government of Sri Lanka
as the overall authority in dealing with Sri Lankan matters.
Given the fact that their proxies in parliament the TNA have delivered
precious little towards their cause, the TRO another of their international
fund raising fronts also having failed miserably to "capture the
world market" despite many concerted efforts , obviously the LTTE
now have limited options and a narrower direction to move towards, in
their own interests. Consequently the magnitude of the failure of the
Peace Process becomes etched in stone and the agitations of a desperate
band of terrorists becomes apparent as their beliefs in their dogma
towards secession gets further prioritised albeit a lost cause.
There are indeed many contributing factors towards the failure of the
Peace Agreement, the foremost being the reluctance of the LTTE to accept
the present administration's urge to re-draft the Peace Agreement in
a manner more feasible and conducive towards all of Sri lanka than what
was set in place by the previous administration which was overly conciliatory
to a group of unrelenting armed terrorists. Consequently the desperation
on the part of the LTTE has given rise to a situation where the LTTE
who are gathering more and more contempt in the world arena are now
attempting a two pronged attempt to secure their means where an undisclosed
militant front seems to be doing their dirty work in an insurgent sense
while the LTTE proper with the ever smiling Thamilselvam and the bungling
Anton Balasingham are carrying out their jingoism in pretence to what
is going on realistically.
Synonymously the ceasefire is being surreptitiously violated towards
their own survival almost presenting a cognizance to all those who view
them through rational vision that these indeed are a band of disoriented
terrorists with nowhere to go and perhaps willing to pull all stops
towards their survival and something the administration should view
as favourable in all optimism towards redeeming Sri Lanka from these
oppressors through the proper course of actions as these are individuals
who by their actions of intimidation false representation and destructive
force against a legitimate Government truly have no right to their existences!
Particularly when they happen to be part of a miniscule minority of
12% approximately in a Nation where the governing majority consists
of representation of over 75% of its population who have always shown
tolerance and empathy to other community far removed from terrorist
objectives and seeking an unfeasible autonomy unacceptable where pluralities
lie within the common concept of a central Government and not a divided
Nation!.
To allude to the reason for the Failed Peace Agreement as being an intransigence
of the parties to the conflict and the main stumbling block, pressured
or encouraged by various parties internally and externally seems a lame
excuse given the considerations that it is somewhat perplexing that
the LTTE have been permitted carte blanche towards their existence in
Sri Lanka as fully armed terrorists in the first place. Perhaps Sri
Lanka should have approached the issue with greater resolve towards
dealing with the LTTE purely on condition that they disarm and come
to the negotiating table showing good faith towards peace rather than
resort to cheap underhand tactics in the face of all the tolerances
on the part of Sri Lanka's Defence Forces where their pretences have
far exceeded their real intent and hence the growing condemnation of
their existence in the free world.
They have in all probabilities already tolled their death knell by their
actions as the days are probably numbered when they will once again
make an insurgent attempt towards their cause and this time the counter
attack could be overwhelming and towards their ultimate destruction. That
there now exists a proxy insurgent force doing the dirty work of the
incapacitated LTTE from behind the smokescreen of the Ceasefire is becoming
painfully obvious as the LTTE continue to deny involvement in any of
the latest attrocities which have claimed several hundred lives both
military and civilian and the modus operandi of the recent attempt on
the life of the Army Commander bears testimony that the LTTE are indeed
active despite the denials.
They must however realise that the odds are against them in a renewed
confrontation and that the Sri Lankan Defense Forces have had their
resources boosted in many areas of logistics, armaments and personnel
and it would be futile on the part of the LTTE if they believe in any
anticipated success as they would be crushed beyond measure and is probably
what they are more deserving of rather than tolerance and compassion,
being the ruthless terrorists they are! It could well be a time when
all the support pledged by many entities towards the preservation of
Sri Lanka's unitarity and territorial integrity needs to come together
to deter the aspiring despots of the directionless LTTE who might then
have to think of the Indian Ocean or cyanide as the only feasible options!
While military firepower with the intent to overcome an insurgent entity
is not an impossible option for Sri Lanka there lies a deterrent towards
the theme by way of the inevitable damage and the destruction that could
once again result and prove to be very detrimental to Sri Lanka which
has had four years of an uneasy peace and it has become a difficult
task for Sri Lanka's Staus Quo to deal with but if their hand is provoked
as is being indicated by the LTTE insugent proxies there might not be
any other viable option than to launch an all out attack against these
destructive forces towards a final solution ( not to be infered as any
Hitlerian concept!) with the specific intent to rid Sri Lanka permanently
of the LTTE terrorists but of course as a last resort!
Time perhaps for the Sri Lankan Administration to start weighing its
decisions unilaterally rather than depend on intermediaries who might
also have vested interests in the resources they may be able to glean
from Sri Lanka reverting to an old colonial theme as othewise Sri Lanka
might as well be a colony of either Norway or Japan who now seem interested
in having a greater share in directing Sri Lankan Administrative policy
where Sri Lanka could easily be misconstrued by the world at large as
a puppet regime and a point in case for the Hon. President to note!
Time also to utilise all the pledges of support by world powers dedicated
towards Sri Lanka's Sovereignity, Unitarity and Territorial Integrity
in the most tangible manner towards ridding the nation completely of
terrorists while sending them a clear message that their presence and
modus operandi in Sri lanka will no longer be tolerated despite their
rhetoric intended towards enhancing their credibilities which are virtually
non existent as opposed to palavering to their demands and capitulating
to their veiled threats which will further isolate their objectives!
