Are The LTTE Literally Staring Down The Barrel Of A Gun ?

October 10th 2006

To the peaceniks constantly chipping in their two cents worth that the Government of Sri Lanka needs to follow the peace option with a bunch of discarded terrorists of late abandoned even by their own former supportives even marginally as well as the Tamil community in a greater proportion than previously known, it needs to be pellucidly elaborated that there can be no moderation or soft pedalling on defending a Sovereign Nation from insurgents despite the rhetoric and these mouthpieces whose sole objective is to promote the cause of the LTTE rather than that of the citizens of Sri Lanka need to be asked to put their monies where their mouths are !or keep them permanently closed for lack of an alternative.
One cannot hide under a bushel the realities of what goes on in Sri Lanka presently as it glares one right in the face that the LTTE have commenced their third or fourth Eelam War( no one knows for sure which one! being the delusion it is), peace talks notwithstanding and the Government of Sri Lanka is carrying out its bounden duty to preserve the nation's sovereignity and territorial integrity. Although nearly a month has elapsed since both the Sri Lanka Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) agreed in' principle' to meet and talk peace which is truly an aberration of the term alluding to meet in principle and participate in worthless debate at the taxpayer's expense as it is more of an abomination which bypasses any definition relative to the realities involved as the LTTE on one hand have never relented from their attempts to wreak havoc in the North and East of Sri Lanka and still hang onto what they percieve as an entitlement to legitimate recognition whereas the fact of the matter is they have none and their criminalitie have put paid to whatever semblances of credibility they might have had in the past.

To add to all this, albeit unsuccesfully, their political mouthpiece Thamilselvam continues his slimy innuendo mixed with veiled threats which he could no more sustantiate beyond his usual huffing and puffing that the LTTE still have entitlement to recognition quite forgetting their criminal and outlawed identity! And as usual in the face of appeasing the International Community and at times unsure of who needs pleasing as a priority the Government veers its direction alarmingly making the more discerning wonder if it would eventually compromise its bounden dedication towards preserving the Nation and the charade goes on.

Sri Lanka once again is immersed in a climate where political parties bandy words about the merits of offence and negotiated peace where an all out campaign to take out the LTTE seems the better option rather than dancing to the tunes of the prophets of doom who seem to believe that appeasing the LTTE is the be all and end all of whats good for Sri Lanka circumventing what stares them in the face that the LTTE is the only source of evil which now stands in the way of the well being and assured posterity of Sri Lanka where there should be no confusion about what needs to be done and no turning back once a final assault is launched towards taking them out permanently! This needs to be done with the objective of negotiating sanely and rationally with the non LTTE supportive Tamil Community once the nation has been permanently rid of the vermin LTTE! whose presence has never been more objectionable!

There is no doubt that the Sri Lankan Armed Forces' operations conducted by the Army, Navy and Air Force was a tremendous success both tactically and strategically where a greater advantageous position over the LTTE has never been observed and in retrospect it must be an inspiration for the continuation of these operations until the LTTE are brought to their knees. As observed by many military analysts, this time around in an unprecedented manner and measure of success going back perhaps to the Janaka Perera days the Armed Forces have launched a well-coordinated campaign towards thwarting and oftentimes decimating the tigers and hardly pausing to permit them regrouping and what good logically would be such a strategic advantage if the objective was not to overrun the enemy completely? which if squanderd to appease the baying of the pundits sermonising peace merely to permit the LTTE to buy, time, deplorable!

That the Sri Lankan Armed Forces have maintained the initiative gained after the success at Sampur to destabilise LTTE in the East where the SLAF operations have also indicated that their coordination with Col. Karuna and his fighting forces are now well organised at tactical level to provide mutual support has now been proven beyond reasonable doubt which has sent the likes of Thamilselvam scampering for cover and crying out to the international community and their buddies in Norway for restitution which they must never be permitted and a deterrent towards regrouping ever!! Curiously Thamilselvam and his cronies hardlry ever consider laying down arms, denouncing secessionist objectives and merging with mainstream Sri Lankan society as an option indicative of what true LTTE intent is tantamount to! It appears to have also stirred the moods of certain disgruntled non governmental turncoats towards remembering a previously unknown sense of latent patriotism which they seem to have acquired in the recesses of confinement from which they have been recently released!

Whatever the definition by the pundits might be, Sri Lanka's astute President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s priority to push through a military agenda rather than resume the wilting peace process appears to have worked towards that all important aspect of sending the tigers fleeing for cove,r synonymously towards the Nation's advantage where they have made it easy for the President to launch upon this strategy as they have definitely under estimated the President’s resolve towards using a military option as a response to their own blatant attrocities which they disclaim as their doing but painfully obvious nonetheless and carries all their hallmarks of insurgency, murder and mayhem one associates the LTTE with as has been the case in the past several months!.

It has been observed by many analysts and some in particular who suggest quote " that LTTE have indeed made yet another strategic blunder when they forced the withdrawal of monitors from EU countries from the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) reducing its effectiveness. This has made it convenient for the Sri Lanka Government to go ahead with its military option. No doubt that LTTE had acted provocatively for a long time. But it was the LTTE attack on the Army Commander in April that triggered the SLAF to exercise its right to respond in kind. Since then all the “defensive responses” of SLAF are part of a well-planned offensive strategy to strengthen the SLAF position on the ground." end quote where the LTTE at present seem to be literally staring down the barrel of a gun which is bound to destroy them and the trigger finger belonging to a legitimate source with all the entitlements to effectively squeeze the trigger!

Hence perhaps the LTTE bleatings from the far corners of Sri Lanka and wherever their infestations might be as much as those of their supportives who can only plead for restraint, clemency and compassion undeserving of their reputation as murderous terrorists!
