The Foreign News Media Reporting On the Situation In Sri Lanka Need To Get Their Facts Right!

April 13th 2007

It is about time the Foreign Media reporting on the situation in Sri Lanka either get their facts right or word their bulletins to accommodate the accuracies of what really goes on in Sri Lanka and not leave much to conjecture as sometimes the dispensations sound overly far fetched and speculative for the more discerning intelligent people around the world to comprehend which includes many Sri Lankans amazed at some of the most misleading information some of these media broadcasts propagate globally.

For instance when they report that there still remain de facto LTTE governance in the North of Sri Lanka it is no more than an utter concoction in all probabilities to appease LTTE supportives as these so called LTTE controlled areas are effectively diamantled and overrun and no longer exist according to special intelligence reports and it becomes a joke to even surmise that the LTTE terrorists on the run could even dream of manning de facto administrations while seeking cover in the hideout bunkers in the Wanni of Velupillai Pabhakaran which are now said to be toilets for LTTE cadre in fear of their lives with a relentless army in their pursuit where their infrastructure is said to emphasize quick getaway exits into the bush!

Then comes the bold and blatant reports about a fearful LTTE air capability after the attacks on the airbase in Katunayake which was an orchestrated fluke with the help of a few moles who are about to be dealt with effectively and the fixed wing aircraft that the LTTE are supposed to have are being sidelined for scrap in advance of their being scrapped before they are ever used for any future combat purposes which to all intents and purposes say the experts was a one shot deal!

What the Foreign media really needs to get a lid on are the facts related to Sri Lankan Government troops fighting what tantamounts to the “climax” of a battle to clear vast jungle areas of Tamil Tiger rebels who are running helter skelter but attacking innocent civilians as in todays massacre of poor defenceless Sinhalese Village women celebrating the Sinhalese New Year details of which the worthy Foreign news media seem to have missed or conveniently bypassed .

Quite apart from the pro LTTE propaganda currently being generated by certain NGOs and their hand in glove aid workers perhaps also in collusion with the Foreign Press the fact of the matter is FP somehow failt to be emphatic in all of their media reports that the Sri Lankan armed forces are indeed fighting very effectively with a great measure of success a war against insurgents in order to free the North and North East of Sri Lanka of their contentious presence in a very justifiable campaign by a Sovereign Nation against a bunch of worthless and directionless terrorists whose insignia and credentials amount to zilch beyond a compelling need for the Nation of Sri Lanka to be rid of their presence permanently as a security threat both to the nation as well as the region of South Asia!

Questions need to be asked whether the Foreign Media are now attempting to continue the failed pro LTTE dirty work left unaccomplished to any measure of success by Norway where they never seem to give up for whatever reason and ever since a 2002 Norwegian-brokered ceasefire agreement fell apart a year ago, Government Forces have focussed their efforts on wresting full control of the Island’s East and eliminating pockets of intensive Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) activity. So what is wrong with that and why does the Foreign Media attempt to paint justification for the cause of the LTTE terrorists who are terrorists and no more?

What the Sri Lankan military are driving at as their ultimate Fait Accompli is confronting the Tigers, who are fighting a lost cause and a losing skirmish to set up an independent homeland and an objective which has since failed them aeons ago and are now being driven to pockets of resistance in the North of the Island where their contentious presence in the East is now history!.
Perhaps the Foreign News Media need a new theme to indulge their often incongruous and bifurcated viewpoints and here is one towards good measure if it will inhibit them to pause for a moment to think before they continue their pro LTTE propaganda! It is now being rumored that"While some officials in the hierarchy assert that they merely want to bring the LTTE back to the negotiating table, others talk openly of ”eliminating” them once and for all. " so what if anything would be their ( the FP's) take on this, one wonders in order make capital out of it to mislead the international community? There is also a third viewpoint that all the negotiating henceforth to bring the LTTE to the bargaining table is a mere ploy to round up their leadership and wipe them out as a prelude towards eliminating the rest of them which from a Sri Lankan well being's perspective might not be such a bad idea afterall!

It may be a dog eat dog kind of atmosphere in the North and East of Sri Lanka where the predatory opportunists make merry at the expense of the poor and displaced and the extent of this said to be immeasurable and horrendous albeit supposedly a very temporary one as the might of the Army Machine rolls in their direction meaning the LTTE who are directly behind the miseries of the poor and displaced in these areas whilst pretending to be their champions from hideouts in the jungles orchestrate all the miseries of the poor and displaced but what the Foreign Media need to know specifically is the veritable fact that their days are numbered and they are in no control of any territory in the North or East anymore beyond perhaps a few sentimentally remembered enclaves which have now fallen into military possession and continue to do so wherever they might have existed!
