The Realistic Approach Towards A Lasting Peace In Sri Lanka Defined.August 15th 2006 Thus far against some odds the Government of Sri Lanka has maintained its status quo in an equitable manner despite the provocations from the LTTE whose latest attempt on the life of Pakistani Ambassador once again proves the degree to which they would go in their continued attrocities against a Sovereign State and its allies and also attests to the fact that they are no respecters of any normal order and are simply a bunch of rabid terrorists who need to be routed and put down in their entirety. Surely an abomination needing condemnation of their desolation! There is no question that their promised final Eelam War has commenced judging by their concerted attempts to smuggle arms ammunition and cadre to various parts of the Island with little success mercifully and mainly due to the vigilance of alert security intelligence as well as that of the populace and it seems fairly reasonable to assume that the LTTE are now fighting for survival despite the sporadic toll their mendacity continues to take on innocent civilian and armed forces personnel. Seven brave sons of Lanka have paid the ultimate price which has spared the lives of the Pakistani Ambassador and needs to be recognized for their heroism as sympathies go out to their respective families and may they have not died in vain! As the natio heads deeper and deeper into the latest LTTE projected attrocities it is fast becoming obvious that The Tamil tigers in all probilities are projecting thir last hurrahs as there are no appraisals of merit coming their way( never have been) as an organisation of any worth towards the needs of a democratic and free world and an entity which by their non responses to negotiation or a heed to the call to lay down arms and join mainstream Sri Lankan society in a manner conducive to real peace. They have now surely isolated themselves into a dead end from which they are never likely to emerge in their present guise and a time to recognize the importance of differentiating between a Tamil tiger and a normal, civilised Tamil where the differentiation seems imperative towards Sri Lanka's cause at the present time. This is a time when all overtures need to be made to isolate the LTTE totally with the help of the more realistically thinking non LTTE supportive Tamil populace both within and without Sri Lanka with gestures of friendship whose confidences towards Sri Lanka's cause needs to be won over and bolstered as a serious move towards defeating the Tigers where the Tigers are the implacable enemy of the State needing elimination and the moderate peace lovingTamils are potential allies with a right towards their existences with a huge role to play towards the posterity of Sri Lanka Given the fact that the Tigers are a ruthless organization of outlawed criminals tolerated within the confines of a sovereign democratic nation there are no obligations for the GOSL to continue any conciliation towards their needs although seemingly may left it a little too late towards appropriate measures to crush them where had they been set in place at the right time perhaps a beloved Foreign Minister alongside many others who laid down their lives by virtue of their condemnations of LTTE terrorism might be alive today. Case in point once again to the stark reality of this as breaking news reports the senseless murder of Mr.Kethish Loganathan, the deputy head of the Lankan Peace Secretariat. These are cowardly but crudely efficient dregs of humanity well versed in their means to kill and maim where their prime targets are top Security Forces officials, prominent personalities in condemnation of their existence as a terror group as well as those who desire a united Sri Lanka regardless of ethnicity and have earned themselves in so doing a date with the executioner where the Authorities in Sri Lanka now have a right to implement. The harsh fact of life within Sri Lanka today is that a measured soft approach which translates to rhetoric and meaningless dialogue with hardcore terrorists seems totally ineffective and a total waste of time where however as an alternative the civilian population also incorporating moderate Tamils, Muslims and other minorities need to be aligned towards supporting the cause of sovereign Sri Lanka through the isolation and rejection of LTTE proclamations towards their right to exist and the only means towards their ultimate elimination while being ably backed by the firepower of the armed force who in essence are doing exacty this albeit somewhat unofficially yet augurs well towars the final solution to rid Sri Lanka of the LTTE vermin! On a final note it seems very appropriate to quote a recent feature in the Asian Tribune with all acknowledgements and due credits that " Tiger fascism has to be resisted and defeated. Tamil nationalism has to be comprehended, addressed and incorporated. The two are not one and the same. There can be no compromise with Tiger fascism. And there can be no military solution to Tamil nationalism. Vellupillai Pirapaharan represents Tiger fascism; he has to be defeated militarily. V Anandasangaree, Douglas Devananda and Karuna Amman are all Tamil nationalists; they must be turned into vital stakeholders of a pluralist Sri Lanka, thorough a generous devolution package. The anti-Tiger war and a political solution to the ethnic problem are not mutual exclusive options; they are interrelated tasks which must be fulfilled (simultaneously rather than sequentially) if we want a lasting peace in an undivided Sri Lanka." end quote. Better days for this embattled beloved Nation of ours would be a foregone conclusion if the stench of the LTTE presence is eliminated permanently and now seems the right time to embark upon this venture without much ado as longer this consideration is neglected the stronger the will of the LTTE to fight for survival would get and proof of the pudding seems so have surfaced in their call for a ceasefire after the resounding beating they have taken at the hands of the Armed Forces and a pointer towards the real means towrds resolution as harsh as it sounds!
