LTTE Trepidations Over the ILDCA Should Not Affect Tamil Community Nor Should LTTE Threats be Tolerated As Sri Lanka Views Agreement With India For Regional Safety.

Finally the India Sri Lanka Defence Co-operation Agreement (ILDCA )seems to have presented a valid reason for All Sri Lankans to feel somewhat secure from the evils of terrorism which has plagued the Island Nation in the form of the LTTE.

There should be no cause for alarm for the minority Tamil Community about their rights and entitlements and that they would be in any way threatened as the all too partisan propaganda bulletins of the LTTE are trying to convey. To the contrary the Sri lankan Tamil Community should welcome the Agreement as it would further secure their existence with no intimidations or obligations to the false proclamations of the LTTE who have continued to mislead them with false hopes where a greater proportion of wise and discerning Tamils have disowned the LTTE as being a group which does not speak for all Tamils.
The LTTE propaganda machines which have little or no credibility among the more discerning within the Nation or the International Community have been blatant enough to proclaim that a Defence Treaty with India could result in Tamil subjugation or a denial of their legitimate rights which proably needs rephrasing that in reality it would be the LTTE that face subjugation and a denial of their rights as terrorists and are the ones who need to worry about their future based on the rationale that terrorists have no rights nor a future!

The very welcome news that a high level Sri Lankan delegation led by Defence Secretary Mr.Cyril Herath and including Army chief Lt Gen Lionel Balagalle, have had talks on the ILDCA with the top brass of the Indian defence establishment in New Delhi earlier this week is cause for jubilation for all peace, loving terror denouncing citizens of the land that after all the play acting and posturing of the UNF Administration and the meaningless conciliations and homage paying to the LTTE and the shenanigans of the Norwegian Peace Monitors, the true path to peace has only been taken marginally and that peace is still some distance away as there still remain a terrorist group within the land which has not de-commissioned weapons, nor given up idealogies towards secession and are continuing to pose a regional threat which has attracted the attention of Superpower Neighbor India very justifiably and are not subject to any reservations towards the safety of South Asia.
The LTTE in what appears to be dissapointment towards what they could not accomplish by using the UNF Administration as their imagined pawns mainly due to the hindsight and wisdom of an astute Sri Lankan President, has expressed their frustrations in saying to the media quote, "that that the ILDCA was another ' bogey ' (whatever that means?) and that the Sri Lankan State was showing it to the Tamils with an intention to frighten and subdue them. The ILDCA, he said, was in line with the International Safety Net (ISN) which the Ranil Wickremesinghe Government had established to draw the international community into the ethnic conflict in the island." end quote where the true analysis of such a statement hinges on LTTE fears and insecurities and none other.

That the efforts to draw other countries into the conflict would only complicate the ethnic problem further and give rise to new crises is a phobia entertained by LTTE concepts alone, towards their own existences which naturally would not be conducive in the light of India's interest in apprehending LTTE leader Pirapaharan for his crimes against humanity and his role in the assassination of their beloved leader Rajiv Gandhi alongside the threat the LTTE poses to Regional Security should they be permitted to continue in their present perspective as terrorists despite their change in garb and dialogue.
The present joint agreement as proposed has been a direct outcome of a new stance by the President with almost auspicious timing as she has decided to administer National Defence, Information and Communications in an impressive show of strength where the frontrunners of the UNF have been cast aside as their conciliations rather than Peace Negotiations with the LTTE have forced her hand towards remedial action in what appears to be in the best interests of the Sinhala Nation.

Some bravado and veiled threats on the part of the LTTE has to be noted and perhaps confronted through meaningful dialogue that in saying quote"The LTTE was showing patience only to create a conducive climate for the resumption of peace talks and not to give time to the Sri Lankan Government to pursue its military agenda and strengthen itself militarily, and that The Sri Lankan Government would be 'day dreaming' if it thought that it could use the patience being shown by the LTTE to draw other countries - especially India - into the conflict and use them to subdue it, " end quote , spokesperson SP Thamilselvam has had the affront to question the rights of a Sovereign Democratic Nation towards fortifying its militrary strength and the patience required to tolerate what the World and the Nation envisions as a group of outlawed proscribed terrorists.
This perhaps is an indication that finally the LTTE have shown trepidations and anxieties about what awaits them should they continue in their present terrorist image as India and Sri Lanka in this latest joint venture have signalled affirmative action towards their probale exit as a viable force and a projection towards their ultimate removal from being a continued threat to Sri Lanka and the region of South Asia.
