Wisdom Of The Peers Expressed Through Concerns Of The President And Former Foreign Minister.

The Foreign Peace Mediators have jumped rails and taken over an unauthorised status in their present dictatorial attitude towards the UNF Government and has elicited the wrath of the President and raised the eyebrows of the Former Foreign Minister who have once again spoken out strongly about abdicating powers to foreigners which further enhances the lame duck nature of the Ranil Wickremasinghe Administration as surmised by the analysts whose growing concerns about the Administration's over eagerness to please the LTTE has had a ring of truth towards speculation about who calls the shots? Whether it is the Administration or in fact the external mediators turned adjudicators??

The UNF Administration who seems to depend on the opinions of the Norwegian and Japanese mediators when making decisions have thus far accomplished little towards a credible resolution towards Peace albeit by definition it has thus far prevailed mercifully and have continued to ignore key issues which have raised concerns in many areas of National Security yet swept under the carpet by the UNF idealogues who seem to have their own interpretations of Peace perhaps once again based on the theories of Ahimsa going back to a certain Founding Father of the present day Constitution ( at whose expense the LTTE once wreaked havoc!! ) rather than being wary of a relentless criminal enclave whose destructive capabilities are literally etched in stone!

The former Foreign Affairs Minister and highly respected strategist Mr. Lakshman Kadirgamar has also pointed out to the International Media that the present day
' virtual adjudicators ' of Governmental decisions involving the Peace Process , Norway and Japan were initially invited as brokers of peace by the PA Administration of Madam President Chandrika Kumaratunga and that they had overstepped their boundaries in being bipartisanly favourable towards the LTTE and were doing the thinking for the Government and its strategies involving the Peace Process which does not augur well for its credibility and has sprung up concerns by Super Power neighbour India that Regional Destabilization could easily manifest itself as Japan seemed to be taking on a political role in South Asia and has warned of its consequences which could have far reaching ramifications.

Lately there has been much speculation in key opposition circles that the Wickremasinghe Administration rather unsure of what direction might be needed to counter the present impasse in the Peace Process deliberately created by the LTTE has designs towards an International Safety Net and hence the rather extraneous involvement of Norway and Japan as forebearers of safety, and a kind of reaching out which could take over a whole new meaning as a safety factor of a dubious nature as both Norway and Japan have indicated bipartisan favouritism towards the LTTE rather than the Administration on many occassions where the right to exist as Terrorists without relinquishing their goals and image have never been questioned and has continue unabated!

Ironically and contrary to the Administration's belief that all will be well in the end in its most myopic perspective, the LTTE have continued to regroup and fortify their resources while the Administrators continue to pontificate about the merits of Peace while granting the LTTE unbelievable access to previously secured areas and VIP treatment to their most notorious criminals who parade the Capital and the World in their sunday best and limousines when all they deserve are handcuffs and prison garb. The presently available LTTE statistics also endorsed by the Former Foreign Minister appear to present LTTE insurgent capability by virtue of sheer neglect on the Administration's part as awesome and one which by far surpasses the military capabilities of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and a frightening concept which for now however might be deemed rather conjecturial and exaggerated but nevertheles worth looking into objectively.

The preponderances on how to communicate with the LTTE who have refused to shed their insurgent image and prurient activities probably rest on the stance of the Global Coalition Against Terrorism by the US led World Superpowers and in particular India whose interests in the Region are beyond a doubt vested!! where no quarters will be asked or given until the last of the perpetrators of crimes against humanity run into the ground! which would seem to be a better option than the one chosen by the Wickremasinghe Administration and appearing to be one of subjugation!.

Realistic confrontational dialogue as an axiom of necessity considering the unrelenting and devious nature of the LTTE , should probably be prioritised as it deals with an outfit whose ambits and interests appear to be on the road towards measured success as a direct result of UNF bungling should caution not be heeded in the vision of the Former Foreign Minister and the President!

The Foreign Minister has been quoted as saying that "“It is a fatal mistake to assume that the LTTE is afraid of anyone, the LTTE were set to gain through the Peace Process what they could not win after decades of fighting with Government Forces, warning the Tigers would be threatening economic and strategic security interests of India by building up forces in the North-Eastern port district of Trincomalee. Within the LTTE the hard-line elements had emerged stronger and the rebels could make virtually impossible demands on the Government after an internal meeting they are currently holding in Paris." end quote.

Food for thought and action by the Powers That Rule obviously and in the best interests of Sovereign Sri Lanka where the definition of "The Powers That Rule" can sometimes be ambiguous and somewhat questionable!
