Socialist Websites Criticising the Rajapaksha Administration's Wooing Of The JVP Are Barking Up The Wrong Tree!

29th August 2006

When news engines such as the World Communist Website try to undermine the good work currently being done equitably and admirably by Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksha they are merely shooting themselves in the foot rather than contributing towards the real progress needed at this time for Sri Lanka!

Under the auspices of the so called socialism they profess to have embraced as idealogy they ironically carry out their propaganda towards their objectives and agenda in a most anti social manner and should learn to contain themselves in a manner benevolent to Sri Lanka rather than undermine the nation's progress and the effort to be completely free of terrorism by not broadcasting bulletins of negative effect where the reasoning appears to be simply an attack based on animosities against the true socialists in Sri Lanka the JVP who have contributed greatly towards the nation remaining astute and intact in the face of all the perils it has faced both at the hands of the LTTE as well as the pro LTTE forces such as the biased Norwegian wing of the SLMM and the ever conniving leadership of the UNP who have virtually slunk away disappointed that their agendas have not been kept or accomplished as planned.

To blatantly accuse Presidenrt Rajapakse of seeking deals, not just with the JVP, but with other political parties in order to shore up the shaky ruling coalition ia an apathetical statement by these websites. The entry last week of the Ceylon Workers Congress and the Upcountry Peoples Front into the Parliamentary affiliations of the Ruling Party of President Rajapaksha which are based among Tamil speaking plantation workers whose rights are defended by these parties have been accepted by the President in all his widom that all citizens of Sri Lanka need representation in Parliament while it also boosts synonymously the majority in Parliament and perhaps a welcome entry to consolidate the unity needed to defeat the LTTE"s ambitions of secession which is now looking more like a moonshot than ever before and they are to all intents and purpose on their way out from being the scourge they have been for decades in Sri Lanka mainly due to the efforts of the JVP and the dedications of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.

While it is also a noble gesture by the President to invite his former adversaries in the United National Party (UNP), the largest opposition party, towards forming a national unity government.
there has to be trepidations and anxieties by many, given the track record of the UNP and whether this would be in the best interests of the Nation but whether the UNP finally joins the cabinet or not is a matter still to be confirmed and finalised. There probably are many turncoats gleefully awaitinf another opportunity at the perks of being within the ruling party which the Administration needs to give great consideration to before entertaining undesirables who are capable of plunging the Nation back into the mire before the Rajapaksha Admistrations entry as the Ruling party.

It has to be noted with enthusiasm that the JVP will continue to have a major hand in setting the government’s agenda, as it has done in the past and has been the forceful cog in the wheel of the Rajapaksha administration which has not only upset the socialist websites indicating their animosity about the issue but has also contained the movements of the LTTE where they have been forced into a corner and are fast losing ground on their credibilities as well as the territory they are purported to have claimed as de facto Eelam which is the best thing the JVP have initiated by way of forcefulness and their patriotism admirable which the socialist websites should probably emulate rather than attempting their spoke in the wheel type tactics which do not augur well towards theire own credibilities!

While the confrontations between the military and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) over the past month have intensified with the military always maintaining the upper hand and crushing the tigers at every opportunity, that the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has been actively negotiating for the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) to join his ruling coalition comes as no surprise as the JVP albeit being on the backbenches in a manner of speaking have always maintained a tight grip on how they influence the political direction of the country.

The speculation that while a deal is yet to be struck and the fact that discussions are proceeding towards the JVP's re-entry into the coalition seems a distinct possibility it is also a very positive sign that the government is preparing for a no nonsense line of action against the LTTE which the socialist websites have callously and misguidedly described as " a savage assault on the democratic rights and living standards of working people" whereas to the contrary it is a safeguarding of all the freedom loving citizens of Sri lanka against the fascist and anarchist intentions of the LTTE and its megalomaniac leader Prabhakaran.

The Rajapaksha administration has very nobly and meritoriously safeguarded the rights of all Sri Lankan citizens and have finally taken the right approach towards confronting the LTTE while also being magnanimous in continuing to leave the door open to negotiation conditionally that they come clean, lay down arms, denounce secessionist objectives and merge into mainstream society as part of Sri Lanka's multicultural mosaic which is something foreign to the LTTE and if this is what the socialist websites are moaning about they most surely are barking up the wrong tree and need to get their act together!
