Very Lame & disappointing attempt by Chairman SLTDA to defend his Letter endorsing Homosexual Tourism in Sri Lanka.
Shenali D Waduge
When a government official puts pen to paper on official letterhead, it is no small matter. Words have meaning. Subject headings have meaning. Endorsements have meaning. A signed letter cannot be swept aside with excuses on camera. On 9 September 2025, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Buddhika Hewawasam, issued an official letter to Equal Ground, an NGO lobbying for LGBTQIA rights in Sri Lanka. The letter, on SLTDA letterhead, carries a subject heading that is unambiguous: “Subject: Endorsement of [Equal Ground’s LGBTQIA Tourism Project]” That single line alone is proof of policy endorsement... -Full Story-

Rectifying history or wreaking vengeance? - I
By Rohana R. Wasala
An exclusive Sinhala language BREAKINGNEWS episode on a suspicious, so-called ‘truth connect tv’ youtube video (uploaded September 22, 2025) announces that “the United Nations Organization recommends the appointment of a Truth Commission to re-establish the Sihela identity”. I remember seeing almost the same video with slightly different lay persons speaking in it, uploaded about a year ago. That’s why it struck me as suspicious. The new uploading has been done to coincide with the current Geneva sessions. The same scene of a long drawn psyop drama aimed at the cultural genocide of the majority... -Full Story-

It is not just about sticking two pieces of metal together; welding requires precision, skill, and knowledge of different welding techniques and materials. It has evolved into a high-tech, precision-driven profession that plays a critical role in construction, shipbuilding, oil and... -Full Story-

When Terrorists take over Geneva: 2026 UNHRC Terrorist Sessions

South Asian Spring: Why Expats Should Not Get Digital Vote in Sri Lanka
Shenali D Waduge
The Government of Sri Lanka’s recent announcement on granting voting rights to expats is a gamble with sovereignty. Handing the ballot to millions who neither live under Sri Lanka’s laws, nor share its daily burdens, nor pay its taxes, opens the door to forces that are already destabilizing the State from abroad. The Asian youth-led regime change & placement of non-elected interim governments are lessons to learn. The 2022–25 youth-led protests across Asia revealed how quickly external slogans, diaspora-funded campaigns, and foreign-backed narratives can capture the streets, culminating in regime change without elections... -Full Story-

Post-Plassey Retaliation and Recent Violent Change in Three South Asian States
Dr. Arun Kumar Goswami*
Could the power changes in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal in 2022, 2024, and 2025 resemble the violent power shift at Plassey in 1757? The relevance of the question could be found in the argument of historian E. H. Carr, who describes history as "an endless dialogue between the present and the past". It is important to remember that the British ruled the Indian subcontinent for 190 years after the Battle of Plassey in 1757. At the same time, it is widely discussed and proven that internal protests and conspiratorial activities orchestrated by Western... -Full Story-

Can NGOs Install Multi-Religious Statues in Sri Lanka’s Hospitals?
By Palitha Ariyarathna
Synopsis:  Foreign-funded NGOs are preparing to install multi-religious statues in two government hospitals in Kandy and Peradeniya. This article questions the legality, constitutional authority, and donor-driven influence behind such symbolic acts. It calls for public vigilance, legal review, and protection of the Buddha Sāsana under Article 9 of Sri Lanka’s Constitution. The core message: Sri Lanka’s public institutions must reflect native sovereignty—not external agendas. A symbolic initiative is now scheduled to begin within two government hospitals—one in Kandy and the other in Peradeniya. Multi-religious statues are expected to be placed in these institutions, framed as gestures... -Full Story-

David Hewavitarne was at the beginning of Sri Lanka's difficult transformation from a British monarchical colony to an independent sovereign republic in 1972. When the American theosophist, retired military officer, lawyer and journalist Henry Steel Olcott arrived in Colombo in May 1880, David was hardly sixteen (so would have been included among today's youngest Gen Z'eers in the impossible event of his having been born 161 years later than he actually was,... -Full Story-

The Yahapalana Regime (2015–2019): A Comprehensive Exposé
Shenali D Waduge
The Yahapalana government, installed in 2015 after a US–India regime-change operation to remove Mahinda Rajapaksa, promised "good governance," anti-corruption, and democracy. Instead, it systematically dismantled Sri Lanka's post-war gains. Between 2015 and 2019, it undermined sovereignty, destabilized the economy, weakened national security, and enabled unprecedented foreign interference. This exposé consolidates the failures, individuals, parties, and institutions responsible. What are chances for Sri Lanka to develop construction and repair business in Trincomalee and who can be our customers?
Dr Sarath Obeysekera
Trincomalee has good strategic potential to develop construction & repair (shipyard / offshore fabrication / repair services). It already has a deep natural harbour, government and port-authority plans to industrialise the port, and fresh political interest (energy hub / bunkering / refinery plans) that will create local vessel traffic and project work. Those factors make a Trincomalee-based business attractive — but success depends on securing land/berths, financing, skilled labour, and anchor customers to guarantee steady revenue.  Why the opportunity exists (key drivers) World-class natural harbour — Trincomalee's... -Full Story-

The Decline of the West vs. The Rise of China: Two Paths, Two Outcomes
Shenali D Waduge
There is no perfect template for governance, yet when comparing the two great powers of our time, the contrast is undeniable. One — the United States — has long boasted of liberalism, freedoms, and human rights, presenting itself as the world's moral compass. The other — China — has quietly implemented a multi-layered development plan for its future. For decades, America and its Western allies have claimed to be models for the world. Yet beneath the rhetoric, their societies are breaking down — morally, spiritually, socially, and economically. Citizens are burdened by debt, terrified of... -Full Story-

Alert to Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry: Implementing UNHRC Demands Will Lead to Government Ouster
Shenali D Waduge
Since 2009, the UNHRC has overstepped its mandate, pushing demands that strip Sri Lanka of sovereignty — imposing foreign-run courts, forcing constitutional changes, and erasing LTTE crimes. These are political agendas, not human rights. Sri Lanka has also faced externally funded regime change. Nepal shows where this path leads: elected rule replaced by foreign-approved actors. Any elected government must act to protect the integrity of the Nation and its People, not to appease external powers. Sri Lanka must see these demands as a warning, never a roadmap. Since 2009, the UNHRC has made a... -Full Story-

Title: Indian Expansionism and Its Potential Impact on Sri Lankan Politics
By: Dr. Sarath Obeysekera
India has long been a dominant regional power in South Asia, using its economic, cultural and security influence to shape the policies of its smaller neighbors. Over the last decade, New Delhi has intensified its engagement with Sri Lanka through a combination of trade, investment, defence cooperation and people-to-people links. While this may create opportunities for growth and stability, it also raises questions about sovereignty and policy independence. India’s Expanding Footprint Indian companies have secured significant stakes in Sri Lankan infrastructure — from renewable energy projects in the north and... -Full Story-

Violent Regime Change in South Asia: Too Much Spending on Education but Too Few Economic Opportunities
Dilrook Kannangara
Too much of a good thing can be toxic. A nation must invest only so much in education that its economy needs and can sustain. Investing too much in education is a sure way to invite disaster. This is the main root cause of violent youth uprisings in South Asia. They all started in universities or started by university students. This happened in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and now Nepal. It will not happen in Maldives, India and Bhutan as these countries don’t waste too much on education compared to other sectors of the country; and... -Full Story-

The Real Cost of Leadership: What Ranil Wickremesinghe’s Travel Tells Us About Power and Accountability”

Only time will tell whether the arrest and remand of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe (RW) marks a watershed moment for Sri Lanka. While the courts will ultimately determine whether he is guilty of misusing public funds, the political fallout has already exposed deeper systemic issues. RW’s arrest highlighted two uncomfortable truths. First, politicians—regardless of ideology—stand together when one of their own is in trouble. The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was established in 2006 (GA Resolution 60/251) with noble intentions: to promote universality, impartiality, and cooperation protecting human rights. Yet in practice within less than 2 decades, the Council has become a political arena where blocs of states advance strategic interests, discipline weaker nations, and grant powerful allies immunity. The story of Sri Lanka shows how “human rights” has been weaponized to stifle a state for defeating its proxy terrorists. Sep. 2, 2025 Two very important uprisings are now stirring up large parts of humanity, even if many of mainstream media — not media of information, but of lobotomizing and bestializing — under the suffocating, historically unprecedented control of financial capital and of the Israeli and Zionist lobbies which dominate them, do whatever they can to conceal the scope and the dynamics of these revolts. The “organizer”, the instigator of both these revolts is no other than the extremist, adventurist and incoherent policy itself, carried out by... -Full Story-

OPPOSITION TO QUESTION GOVERNMENT OVER LIQUIDATION OF STATE INSTITUTIONS

The Opposition will question the government in Parliament next week over its decision to liquidate 33 state institutions, including the defunct airline Mihin Lanka. This was announced by Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara, who questioned the government’s reasons for the decision. Jayasekara also claimed that a previous government’s attempts to restructure these institutions had been thwarted by opposition from the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), which he said resulted in significant losses for the country. Sri Lanka’s 2015 Yahapalana Government turned non-binding UNHRC Resolutions into National Law
Shenali D Waduge
Although UNHRC resolutions are non-binding, since 2009 the Council has effectively acted as a mouthpiece formalizing overseas LTTE lobbyist demands into intrusive resolutions. A Council that failed to act against LTTE over 30 years of terror has, since 2009, issued 11 resolutions against Sri Lanka—outside its original mandate and without UNGA or UNSC authorization—unfairly targeting the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. Procedural and funding irregularities, combined with political pressure, allowed these non-binding resolutions to be implemented as national law, creating a dangerous global precedent that should concern all UN Member States. ... -Full Story-

Some Middle East heroes’ exploits: A boomer’s reflection
Rohana R. Wasala
That distressful video of 24 year old Israeli hostage Evyatar David, made to dig his own grave in a Gazan tunnel reminded me of the harrowing accounts of the worst anti-Semetic violence perpetrated on Jews in the last century under Germany’s NAZI leader Adolf Hitler during World War II (1939-45). From the creation of Israel in 1948, they became persistent pursuers of their sadistic NAZI tormentors of the Holocaust. In our adolescent years in the ‘60s, we read exciting press narratives (in Sinhala newspapers and magazine periodicals) about shrewd Israeli agents hunting down Nazi persecutors... -Full Story-

The United States, with support from Israel, backed yet another violent crusade against an indigenous population as well as against communism. Colombo, Sept. 2 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has written to the Mahanayake Theras of the Asgiriya and Malwathu Chapters, expressing concern over what it alleges are government attempts to “oppress war heroes.” In letters, SLPP General Secretary, Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam, the party accused the government of pursuing actions that undermine military personnel who fought to end terrorism in the country. ARED’s flawed disappearance narrative: Ignoring LTTE’s armed Civilian Force
by Shenali Waduge · 1st September 2025
The Association for Relatives of the Enforced Disappearances has issued a letter to the UNHRC Head on 30 August 2025 appealing to the “international community”. Claims of “enforced disappearances” in Sri Lanka are being weaponised to construct a one-sided narrative that erases LTTE atrocities and unfairly blames the State. Any serious investigation must distinguish between combat deaths, LTTE abductions, forced recruitment, and genuine disappearances — without this identification, broad accusations of a state policy of disappearances are misleading, politically motivated, and devoid of credibility tarnishing the image of the State &... -Full Story-

Kandy Is Not a Nightlife City: Nightlife Is Not a Solution for Youth It Complicates Their Lives

Mahanuwara, known globally as Kandy, is not merely a geographic location—it is a breath of history, a rhythm of reverence, and a sanctuary of Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage. Its ceremonial silence, especially in the evenings, is not a sign of stagnation but a reflection of centuries of Buddhist discipline. Yet today, this legacy faces a challenge disguised as progress: the push to expand nightlife. In recent months, a familiar set of six talking points has surfaced repeatedly in discussions surrounding nightlife expansion in Mahanuwara–Kandy. These claims are not limited to... -Full Story-
