President orders probe into judge’s resignation
President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in Berlin, yesterday ordered his Secretary Saman Ekanayake to launch a probe into the resignation of Mullaitivu District Judge and Magistrate, T. SriLankan Airlines explains recent grounding of several aircraft
SriLankan Airlines has apologised for the extensive cancellation of flights recently, attributing the matter to technical faults. Fifty-two percent of deaths in state hospitals due to heart attacks

Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports increased by 6.98% to USD 1,091.6 million in August 2023 compared to July 2023, the Export Development Board (EDB) said today (Sept. 26). Sivajilingam indicted in HC over Thileepan show’ gets Rs. 1 mn bail
The Colombo High Court yesterday served an indictment to former Tamil National Organization MP M. K. Sivajilingam who was allegedly organizing the “Thileepan” commemoration of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in violation of the Constitution. The draft of the Bill on ‘Online Safety’ was published, by way of a gazette notification, on Monday (18 Sep.), by the Ministry of Public Security. Substantial boost of USD 15 bn to Sri Lanka’s GDP projected through digital economy by 2030

Sri Lanka’s National Hydrogen Roadmap, which aims to develop and deploy green hydrogen technologies in the country, was unveiled on Friday (Sept. 01). Power & Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the roadmap was presented by the Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka (PADSL) and Greenstat Hydrogen India (a subsidiary of a Norwegian energy company with a specific focus on green hydrogen, solar, wind, and zero-emission maritime solutions) with the assistance of the USAID. Export Agriculture Dept. earns over Rs. 86bn in first half of 2023
As per the statistics of the Department of Export Agriculture, Sri Lanka’s agriculture exports earned a revenue of over Rs. 86 billion thus far in 2023, in comparison to the earnings recorded over the last five years.
