Dear SirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Today, as we face a future hopefully without terrorismƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ , we face three major obstacles
1)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Outright condemnation ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ from US, UK and Europe
2)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ .The existence of a vociferous LTTE support group of tamils abroad
3)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The heavy financial burden of maintaining the forces and reconstruction
What do we need:
Other than the obvious can I say that as a people the Sinhalese are not the most united or strong minded.
Therefore if we hope to counter the very ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ powerful forces ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (US , UK, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tamil Diaspora) which very well may destroy any chance the Sinhalese have for ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Peace/prosperity, (blocking IMF funds, UNƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ resolutions )- ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I venture to suggest that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ our national mind set should ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ change.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Peace in strength and unityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚
1)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Enhanced spiritualityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ( bless the country- pray ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for peace and prosperity)
2)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Strength of mind ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”𬅔 historically (in my opinion) the Sinhalese have always come out as a weak people, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ always ready for a hand out. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Our pride in ourselves must be instilled. (Not mindless nationality) . Our colonial mentality must be overcome to be replaced with a pride in who we are and what we can become.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ( We can learn from the Israelis in this regard)
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Gods so far appear to favour us ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”𬅔 LetƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s try to keep it that way.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Regards
Dishanthi ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jayathilleke
