Why I will vote for Mahinda -Sri Lanka is like a patient who has under gone a life saving 30 hour marathon operation who is recovering well in a not so ideal ICU. Its too risky to try a another major surgery with a new lead surgeon in charge!

My votes is for President MahindaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Rajapakse (MR).MR and Sarath Fonseka (SF) are heroes not doubt. I have nothing to gain either from MR or SF personally and I vote according to my conscience and calculations – to best of my ability -ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  having one thing – the good ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  my beloved motherland in mind. Now, that does not mean that my decision will necessarilyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  turn out to be for the better of Mother Lanka. I can only hope I am right…
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Below are some random but related thoughtsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  why I will vote for MR again.
1) First and foremost, elimination of LTTE (is this complete?)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  undoubtedly is the most crucial and significant thing ever in Sri Lanka’s history. This was achieved under MR’s leadership. Now this does not mean that he did this on his own. Enough to say he was leading the team. I am sadden that he could not keep the team going for another year.
2) I believe democracy and stability is absolutely essential for development of a country. I express my frustration and sadness here. MR has a lot to improve on the ‘Democracy front’ front no doubt!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
3) It is hard, very hard for the man on the street. One can not but consider the global recession and the warƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as well at play. Who knows perhaps it is entirely possible that our economy would be much worse than is now if not for MR winning the war.

4)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mother Lanka is too important to think in a such a short term view… ” lets first get pass 26th January and things will just fall it to place even though odds of happening that is remote.

5) Power tends, more often than not, to corrupt people, make them more autocratic, leads them to defyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  common sense. When comparing the candidates we should be mindful not to compare apples and oranges. I.e. We should try, as difficult as it may, to visualise candidatesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  what he/she will do and say if they have power keeping in mind that MR is the all powerful President already.
6) I am glad that TNA is taking part in the elections, for me this symbolises national integration. However can this be perhaps the continuation of LTTE’s strategy like last Presidential elections – choose the candidate, who in their opinion is most likely to have a weak government. If unstable and chaotic even better…
7) What exactly is JVP’s niche? Again perhaps will they not thrive in more chaotic conditions, especially in post LTTE Sri Lanka where the ‘nation card’ is becoming more irreverent. Is not the case that MR is also active in their very vote base much more than any UNP led government can ever be?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
8) Ranil WickramasingeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  hangs on to UNP leadership no matter what. What does this show? Whatever that is, we should interpret his move toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  bring SF in from that standpoint. If and when SF comes to power will Ranil’s plan work? Will SF allow that, fully well knowing what happened to President Chandika Kumarathunga when Ranil was the de-facto executive Prime Minister. Can this – Ranil dreams – come true? How naive is this thinking? Then again, on the other hand this will not work only if promises are not kept and Democracy is further destroyed.
9) If SF were to win,MR can stillƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  be come the de facto PM after the general elections! This of cause provided that the constitution is not changed very quickly indeed. Can a constitution be changed this quickƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  without becoming a Banana Republic. One other possible way is for Sri Lanka to become undemocratic.
10) Corruption and nepotism has ruined Sri Lanka more than LTTE and JVP put gather.Sadly, how many honest politicians to we have in our country, this of course from all political parties? How many politicians are there who have not changed the party from the opposition ranks to the party in power or to the party which they think will win an upcoming election. Will these corrupt politicians will ever let any President, even SF, to cleanup this mess? If SF’s Operation Clean up Lanka were to succeed he will have go after the big fish, the real culprits irrespective of the party affiliations. What is the chance that this in fact can and will happen? Is it worth to loose whatever democracy left in the country to try this? It may well be that Sri Lankans,over-confident after defeating the LTTE, are willing to take the risk – “now or never mentality”. This shows to what extent people are fed up with this corruption and wastage. Perhaps it is now or never after all -ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  first it was LTTE and now corruption/nepotism. Wishful thinking? But then again pundits said that LTTE is invincible!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
In my opinion Sri Lanka is like a patient who has under gone a life saving 30 hour marathon operation who is recovering well in a not so ideal ICU. Its too risky to try a another major surgery with a new lead surgeon in charge!

JAWAHARLAL says Your mantraya will work only if you apply THALATHEL on your body and wear only a pice of cloth without any underwear, like Gandhi then sit in front of the INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION and repeate your mantra untill the poles close on the 26th. Do not move, urinate on the INDIAN high commission lawn. Take a clay pot with water to wash the bottom after poo-pooing on the Indian high commission lawn. Brake the clay pot by hitting it on the wall. Let the passes by on Galle road take photographs of you poo-pooing. Your candidate will certainly win if you carry out the above. Good luck on the 27th. Well I told SWRD to wear the ALAGONIYA and he did and the Sinhala called it the national dress! I told JR to wear the same but he forget the KARAPATIYA. Don’t tell me you are not J.R. Jayawardena?

J.R. Jayawardena, You didnot do what I told you to do. See what happend. I told Pramadase the samething, but he made billions of dollars. See he took my advice.
