President directs removal of constructions within National Parks

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the Director General of the Wildlife Department to remove all private constructions within National Parks in the country.
The President had reached this decision after being informed, during a District Development Committee meeting, of permanent tourist camps constructed by private companies within the Yala National Park.
He ordered the removal of any private construction, permanent or temporary, within the Yala National Park by tomorrow (20).

NeelaMaha, show the proof that MR’s son has any construction inside any National Park. There were some e-mails flowting some time ago that Pramadasa’s son has a private lodge inside yala and it is given for senior Police offices use when he is not using it. Wimal Weerawansa’s wife has a loge at Selam Karana Katharagama, where this land is inside YALA

His son has own adgenda as I can see from the clip. He wants to remove the camps ( which is good) but looks like he want to have his own , when he said nearby “local entreprenership should be allowed to grow”.
This appears to be a very good command from the commander but not sure whether ulterior motive are there. We have to wait and see.

Did MR actually orderd the removal of structures inside YALA? The report on Daily News was different from Adaderana? What about the comments by his nephew! He is a chairman of some Provincial council he wants the 13th intact.

Sri Lanka considering to repeal Provincial Council system – report

Oct 21, Colombo: Inner circles of the Sri Lankan government are considering to repeal the Provincial Council system that was established under the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to devolve power, according to a report in a local Sunday newspaper.
Quoting an unnamed senior Minister, the Sinhala Weekly Divaina reported that the government is under pressure from both inside and outside to repeal the Provincial Councils system since the 13th Amendment has become a threat to the unity of the country.
Organizations and individuals supporting the government have pointed out that a 19th Amendment to the Constitution can be brought to decentralize the power and abolish the 13th Amendment since the government has a two-third majority.
A majority of the government believes the provincial council system will lead to another conflict in the country in the future and will be a hindrance to the development of the country, the report further said.
The Provincial Council system was introduced to Sri Lanka in the 13th Amendment to the Constitution in 1987 as a requirement of the Indo-Sri Lanka Accord signed between India and Sri Lanka to end the civil war.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, according to the report, at separate occasions have expressed that the provincial council system is an obstacle to government’s development programs.
The report goes on to say that some organizations island wide are organizing protests to pressure the government to abolish the provincial council system.
Sri Lanka’s Sinhala National and Buddhist Organizations have commenced collecting one million signatures for a petition demanding the abolition of 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

All National Parks belong to the State of Sri Lanka, and therefore to all the People of Lanka. GoSL is the Guardian of ALL State property. If unauthorized constructions have been built on State property, the people should hold the govt. accountable for that. According to the Law of the Land, the President is correct in ordering removal of unauthorised buildings from State property.

යාල ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානයෙහි ඉදිකර ඇති අනවසර කඳවුරු ජනාධිපති නියෝගයෙන් ඉවත් කෙරිණි. ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ඉකුත් 19 දින හම්බන්තොටදී පැවැති විශේෂ දිස්ත්රික් සංවර්ධන කමිටු රැස්‌වීමේදී කළ නියෝගයකට අනුව මෙසේ කඳවුරු බිම් ඉවත් කරන ලදී.
වනජීවී සංරක්‍ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙහි ඉහළ නිලධාරීන්ගේ අනුදැනුම මත එහි නීති රීතිවලට පටහැනිව වනෝද්‍යානය තුළ පෞද්ගලික ආයතන කීපයක්‌ මගින් සුඛෝපභෝගී කඳවුරු සේවාවක්‌ අනවසරයෙන් පවත්වාගෙන ගිය බවට ආනාවරණය වීමෙන් පසු ජනාධිපතිවරයා විසින් ඒවා ඉවත්කර ගන්නා ලෙස මෙම නියෝගය කර තිබුණි.
ඒ අනුව පෙරේදා (20 වැනිදා) යාල බුතවපිටිය මෙනට්‌වැව ප්‍රදේශයෙහි ඉදිකර තිබූ කඳවුරු සහ මහාසීළව මෝය අසල ඉදිකර තිබු කඳවුරු ඉවත් කර ගනු ලැබිණි.
තල්ගස්‌මංකඩ මැණික්‌ ගඟ අසල ඉදිකර තිබූ කඳවුරු ඊයේ (21 දින) පෙරවරුවෙහි ඉවත්කර ගන්නා ලදී.
යාල ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානයෙහි භාරකරු ඒ. ඒ. ඩී. යු. ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් මහතා කඳවුරු ඉවත් කිරීමට කඩිනමින් පියවර ගෙන තිබුණි.
එම අනවසර කඳවුරු ඉවත්කරන අවස්‌ථා ඡායාරූපයෙහි දැක්‌වේ.

යාල අභය භූමියේ පරිසරයට අහිතකර ලෙස හා සත්ව ගහනයට හිරිහැර ලෙස පවත්වාගෙන ගිය පෞද්ගලික අංශයට අයත්, සියලුම කඳවුරු බිම්, ඔවුන්ගේ ඉදිකිරීම් හා සෆාරි ආයතන ඉරිදා වනවිටත් රක්ෂිත භූමියෙන් ඉවත් කර ඇතැ‍යි වනජීවි අමාත්‍යාංශය කියයි.

ඒ අනුව ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ වනජීවි අමාත්‍යාංශය යාල රක්ෂිතය තුළ වූ සියලු පෞද්ගලික ආයතන අභය භූමියෙන් ඉවත් කර ඇත.
වනෝද්‍යානයේ තුළ කඳවුරු බැද තිබු ලෙපට්, කුලු සහ ඉකෝටීන් යන සෆාරි ආයතන සිය කූඩාරම් ඇතුලු මුලික ඉදිකිරිම් සියල්ල ඉවත් කර ගත් බව යාල ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානයේ වනෝද්‍යාන භාරකරු ඩබ්ලිව්. ඒ .ඒ. ඩී. යු ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් මහතා “දිනමිණට” ඊයේ (21) පැවසීය. මේ කඳවුරුවල සිටි විදේශිකයන්ටද ඊයේ (21) දහවල් වන විට ඉන් ඉවත් වන ලෙස දැනුම් දුන් බවත් ඒ අනුව එහි සිටි විදේශිකයන්ද ඉවත් වු බවත් ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
හම්බන්තොට දිස්ත්රික් විශේෂ සංවර්ධන කමිටුව රැස්වීම පැවති අවස්ථාවේ ප්‍රදේශයේ මහජන නියෝජිතයින් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලද කරුණු අනුව ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වනජීවී දේපාර්තුමේන්තුවට මේ නියෝග කළේය. කිසිදු ආයතනයකට යාල වනෝද්‍යා භූමිය බදු දී නොමැති බවත්, වනජීවී අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරයාගේ ලිපියක් මගින් භූමිය වෙන්කර ගැනීමට ප්‍රමුඛතා ලිපියක් මේ ආයතන සඳහා නිකුත් කර ඇති බවත් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව කියයි. මේ සෆාරි ආයතන තුන සංචාරක මණ්ඩලයේ ලියාපදිංචි ආයතන බව පවසන ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් මහතා කඳවුරු බැදීම සඳහා අනුමැතිය ලබාදීමේදි එයද සැලකිල්ලට ගත් බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
පාඨලී චම්පික රණවක මහතා පරිසර ඇමැතිවරයා ලෙස කටයුතු කාලයේ මෙම ආයතන සඳහා කඳවුරු බැදීමට අවස්ථාව ලබාදීම සිදුකර ඇති අතර සෆාරි ආයතන තුන සඳහා තවත් වසරක කාලයක් ඉතිරිව ති‍බේ. මෙම කඳවුරේ එක් දිනක් ගත කිරිම සඳහා විදේශිකයකුගෙන් අමෙරිකන් ඩොලර් 38ක් ද, ඊට අමතරව ඔවුන් ගමන් ගන්නා වාහනවලින්ද අය කිරිම් සිදු කරන බවද වනෝද්‍යාන භාරකරු පැවසීය.
මේ අනවසර ඉදිකිරිම් තිබීම නිසා වනෝද්‍යානවල වන සතුන්ද එම ස්ථානවලට පැමිණිමෙන් වැලකී සිටිම නිසා සංචාරකයින්ට වන සතුන් දැක බලාගැනීම තිබු අවස්ථාවන් මග හැරි ගිය බව දෙස් විදේස් සංචාරයෝ පවසති. වනෝද්‍යානයේ ඇතැම් ස්ථානවල ඇති කඳවුරු හේතුවෙන් එම ස්ථානවල බහුලව දකින දිවියන් වැනි සතුන් එම ස්ථානලට නොපැණෙන බවත්, ඒ අවට අපිරිසුදු වී ඇති බවත් වනෝද්‍යානයේ සේවයේ නියුතු සේවකයෙක් පැවසීය.
