Abrahamic religions and the violence, expansionism and advocacy of conversion are nothing that can be kept hidden or denied. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Spreading the GoodƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ has led to purging of territories and their wealth and excommunicating natives and their unique cultures. Current fears associated with the repetition of past colonial crimes needs to be empathized in view of the objective of both Christianity and Islam competing for world hegemony. The Church is ChristianityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s first soldier and it is becoming more and more evident that behind most terroristsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ activities the Abrahamic religions prevail. LTTE was simply a pawn of the Church to advance a Pan-Christian political agenda that aims to create a satellite Christian autonomous state out of Tamil Nadu and North Sri Lanka (in a Sudan style divide). LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s demise does not mean that ambition is over.
Church refers to all denominations as well as Christian funding agencies, Christian NGOs, Christian Governments and countries that use evangelization and militant Christian missionaries as instruments of foreign policy in countries of Asia and Africa. Church in generic form also applies to the UN that enforces only Western Christian liberal principles applicable to all even if they infringe on Eastern cultures and values.
CHURCH-COLONIAL ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” CONVERT AND CONTROL / DIVIDE AND RULE
Continents of Africa and Asia were conquered by Christianity promoting colonials. They divided the populace and converted people along communal and linguistic lines. That doctrine is vigorously advocated with competition between Abrahamic religions (Christianity and Islam) to convert people in Africa and Asia. Their objectives are facilitated by self-serving politicians and the manipulation of secularism and multiculturalism helped by non-Christians/non-Muslims ready to sell their souls.

India was divided as Aryan(Brahmin) and Non-Brahmin(Dravidian) and Hindi-Tamil. In Sri Lanka, the Church divided people as Sinhalese-Tamils and infiltrated the State through Sinhala Christian/Tamil Christians to purposely segregate the majority Buddhists.
The Church uses to perfection tenets of democracy to control impoverished nations in both Africa and Asia. The strategy is simple ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” communities are turned against each other and they step in as referee with the solutions.
Solutions are never meant to help Hindu-Buddhists or Sinhalese-Tamils from actually rebuilding severed ties. Thus, a paradigm shift in thinking is certainly necessary and both Hindus and Buddhists need to know who the real enemy is. The reality is that Buddhists and the Tamil Hindus are being systematically disempowered.

LTTE was simply a mercenary outfit given tacit approval to kill innocent people so long as it would buy time until the creation of that pan-Christian ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-stateƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ with the necessary numbers of converted Christians on both sides of the Palk Strait. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
LTTE A MERE PAWN
Many wonder why the West is angered that Sri Lanka has eliminated the LTTE. That anger stems from destroying their investment ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the heroic armed forces have managed to dislodge the LTTE from the Eelaam-Church nexus, the robot the West was using to create a Christian foothold in Asia that would combine a future separate Tamil Nadu and the geopolitically important nation of Sri Lanka. Now they have to use plan B of the same strategy.
We can now understand why LTTE didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t accept the solutions offered because the LTTE were merely interim beneficiaries to a greater plan. Whether Prabakaran was aware of it was immaterial because he was dependent on these alliances for his own survival ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” his supremacy was limited to what stood within the Church agenda.
LTTE was first the robot of India but with the killing of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 it prostituted itself to become the pawn of Christian West to facilitate the Christian agenda in Asia.
CHURCH-LTTE LINKS
Prabakaran became Christian. Most of LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s top tier leaders were also Christian or hid their Christian identity with Hindu names. The cadres were almost all low-caste impoverished Hindus. It would be interesting to find out how many of the LTTE cadres knew they too were pawns of Church sponsored Terrorism via LTTE.
One of the best kept secrets is that the LTTE had many ties to the Church.

He leads the Global Tamil Forum.
- Pro-LTTE S. Jebanesan, Bishop of the Church of South India (CSI), who said that he too was working on a theology for the Tamils. A theology only for the Tamils excludes Sinhala Christians.
- Prof. S. Chandrakanthan attached to the Theology Department of the Toronto University, Canada is also pro-separatist pro-LTTE
- Rev. Dick Wootton of Uniting Church, Melbourne, Australia

The Mylapore Diocese works closely with former Tamil Nadu chief Minister while the CSI Church of South India keeps ties with the present Chief Minister.
Dixit too claimed that the entire Tamil clergy of the country supported the LTTE and obviously still do whilst the Sinhala Catholic and Christian clergy along with influential evangelical elites also support the same cause.
LTTE Voice of Tigers tied up with Radio Veritas, a Catholic broadcasting station run by Asian Catholic Bishops Conference based in Philippines. The Tamil Service of the Radio Veritas is run by the Tamil Catholics of Tamil Nadu. Voice of Tigers had a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-coordinating officeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ inside St. Sebastians Church in Mallavi, Wanni the office was opened by pro-LTTE supporter Bishop of Mannar Fr. Rayappu Joseph. This same priest played a key role in getting the army out of the Madhu church premises though allowing LTTE to operate from inside the Church! Incidentally, Alfred Duraiappa the first assassin of Prabakaran had got off at the Madhu Church before proceeding to Jaffna and many believe it was a tip off from the Church that informed Prabakaran of Mr. DuraiappahƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s arrival to Jaffna leading to his death.
Partisan role of the National Christian Council of SL and affiliates (SL Baptist Sangamaya, Christian Reformed Church of SL, Diocese of Kurunegala of the Church of Ceylon, Diocese of Colombo of the Church of Ceylon, Methodist Church, Sri Lanka, Presbyterian Church, Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India, The Salvation Army, YWCA of Sri Lanka, YMCA of Sri Lanka, Ceylon Bible Society, Christian Literature Society, Students Christian Movement, Commission for Justice and Peace) have been working to balkanize Sri Lanka and have colluded with LTTE propaganda tarnishing the image of the country. This is proven by the World Council of Churches promoting the concept of traditional homeland theory in 1994 at the UNHRC in Geneva.
National Peace Council was formed in 1995 with the backing of NCCSL donors includes Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, NORAD, SLIDA and a number of EU, German donor organizations.

Their reports and papers end up being quoted by the West. The concept of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-self-determinationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ is being pushed by these Church forces to facilitate the creation of a Church-sponsored state.
Rev. Father Tissa Balasooriya needs special mention for his attempts to build bridges and unite people rather than disunite them.
LTTE AGAINST TAMIL HINDUS
Tamil Hindus need to realize they were or are not part of any Eelam being promoted in either Tamil Nadu or Sri Lanka. There are enough clues for the Tamil Hindus to realize this. Tamil Hindus need to open their eyes and think.
a)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Prabakaran demanded a separate state before highlighting discriminations is clearly indicative of the end goal devoid of compromise because that was the orders given. LTTE did not speak on behalf of Tamils discriminated in other parts of the world also shows LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s lack of real concern for Tamils except to establish the end goal of a separate state for Christian West. That separate state was not meant for Tamil Hindus.
b)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why did Prabakaran kill the entire moderate thinking Tamil Hindu leaders, politicians, academics and people respected in society? Did PrabakaranƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s actions show any evidence that he or the LTTE were interested in protecting and fostering Tamil Hindu culture? The reality is Prabakaran made a mockery of Hindus and Hindu culture. Was it not the Hindus that lost lives, property and created the rift between Hindus and Buddhists in Sri Lanka (both followers of Hindu civilization religions and culturally closer than all others?) Did the LTTE not rule 90% of the Tamil Hindus through fear?

CHURCH INFLIENCE ON INDIA
There is little debate that the strategy of the Church is to turn Tamil Nadu into a Christian state. Investments made in communication networks, journalism and other mass communication, television networks, schools, buying acres of land, putting up prayer houses close to Hindu temples, establishing foreign Christian missionaries, presence of NGOs, AID agencies and financing various projects is clear evidence.
That is not all the ChurchƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s investments include using human weaknesses to plant Christians into ruling families, generous donations that assures silence of even politicians.
When the Church has money they know how to use it ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the target audience invariably becomes self-serving politicians, the vulnerable, the ambitious and the greedy. Through them the damage is artfully executed.
The power of the Church is such that the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu even repealed the anti-conversion law (in 2004) implemented by her own Government. For this she was rewarded with the Golden Star for Dignity and Honor from the International Human Rights Defense Committee (a Christian organization funded by USAID). She was also awarded with the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Bharath JyothiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in 2005 and evangelist K A Paul presented Rs.1crores for tsunami relief. In 2003, Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Buddhist and Hindu leaders also drafted a anti-conversion bill but heavy Church influence upon the Government has ensured reluctance to implement it.
There are some 3000 Churches/parachurches in and around Chennai, 46 Bible colleges, 23 Christian media centers, 122 Christian magazines in English and Tamil, 114 church planting missions. The Church sponsors rallies, posters, conventions etc. Christianity is broadcast via national Doordarshan, satellite/cable channels of GOD TV, CBN, TBN, MiracleNet, Daystar TV, Raj TV, Zee TV, Vijay TV, Blessing TV, Angel TV, Shalom TV, Jeevan TV and web-based telecasts like Jesus Calls, Num.TV. These Christian channels are relayed to 216 cities across India to an audience of 21million.
The ChurchƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s successes in India include Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and the coastal states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Adhdra Pradesh.
South of Cuddalore every fishing hamlet along Tamil NaduƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s vast coastline is almost 100% Christian with the Church getting Tamil Nadu fishermen to intrude into Sri Lankan waters with a gameplan to exert pressure on both Delhi and Sri Lanka and to provoke
CHURCH MANIPULATES ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The strategy of evangelists have been adopting is to continuously provoke people who do not agree to their line of thinking to the point of provoking attack and thereafter accusing them of intolerance and fanaticism and being communal. The increase of mosques/churches in Buddhist hinterland is one such example. Of course biased coverage is backed by reports that claim religious freedom is deteriorating due to Buddhist racists in Sri Lanka. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
What we see before us the application of Dominionism ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” where Christians believe they have a God-given right to rule all earthly institutions. This has turned into a political agenda rather than a theological one which is why there are numbers of Christians who do not accept this current methodology. Most Christians are ignorant of these pan-Christian geo-regional plans. This new wave of Christian-Islamism at a political level are dangerous because it eats into the emotions of people and devastates their rational thinking.
The situation in South Asia is that there is a plan to destroy Hindu control in Tamil Nadu and Buddhist control in Sri Lanka. Pro-Christian politicians and self-serving non-Christian politicians are being influenced to legally and constitutionally change provisions that place Hinduism and Buddhism at official levels. The changes recommended to the national anthem, national ID cards, suggestion to remove Sinhala/Tamil New Year, blocking anti-conversion laws etc are such ploys being used.
It is important to view IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s stance on Sri Lanka after 2004 under the Italian leadership of the Congress. Tamil Nadu politicians are acting under orders and IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Central Government, at least the Hindu leaders need to realize the impending dangers for their country. Sorry to say countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ruling party chairperson is no friend to India.
The dangers India faces is the gullibility of political parties in Tamil Nadu to Christian strategies and the cluelessness of the BJP in Tamil Nadu giving Church-run Congress a cake-walk to balkanize India totally ridiculing the 82% Hindus of Bharath.
WAY FORWARD is to revive Hindu-Buddhist unity that the colonials purposely divided. For that objective a strong political agenda must prevail in Hindu leadership in India while a complimentary Buddhist scenario must prevail in Sri Lanka to save the two nations from disintegrating.

Shenali, Lorenzo is correct. Eelam is a pan Tamil enterprise, including Hindus and Christians originally created and prompted by mostly Hindus in India. True, some Christians have attempted to hijack the project down the line. Dont tarnish all Christians with the same brush. Not all Christians support a western agenda, not all western colonialists are Christian. Some Westerners are quite anti Christian themselves, some use Christianity to promote white hegemony. Actually the overt cloak of Christianity was dropped a long time ago. I wish Shenali would wake up to the fact of white-supremacism or white-hegemony. This is the REAL threat to world peace, not religion. She NECER once mentioned the white supremacust threat. What is her real agenda, one wonders. Even in the colonial days, it was white hegemonists that were the biggest threat to the freedom and independence of coloured peoples globally. Dravidistan demand first surfaced around 1919 in India by a group led by Periyar.
Tamil Eelam concept was introduced in Ceylon by Ponnambalam Arunachalam in 1922. He was not a communalist until he was dragged into Tamil ethno-nationalist politics in 1921 by a group led by Tamil Mahajana Sabha (1918) (later became ACTC – 1944). The first casualty of this resurgent Tamil ‘nationalism’ was the Anglican church and Anglican schools of Jaffna.
The current Tamil Elam rage in both Sri Lanka and South India is not divorced from history. It is a mere continuation of historical attempts to do so by Elara (205 to 161 BC), Chola (997 to 1070 AD) and other attempts. This historical perspective is needed to fully apprehend the problem and devise a resolution.

You appear to have induced yourself into a dogmatic slumber in that regard. Remember the pithy Sinhala saying? However much you wash charcoal with milk. charcoal will never become white. Please get away from your present mind-set as regards the Tamil-Hindu psyche, because it vitiates your otherwise well written articles. Shenali, your attempt to draw Hindu-Tamils into the majority perspective of a unitary Lanka is like preaching bana to buffaloes.

Commenting as a concerned Buddhist I’m appalled by what happened in Papiliyana. 3 Buddhist monks were arrested for throwing stones at a Muslim man and his shop. We have to first point finger at us. I have not seen Islam, Hindu or Christian preachers doing such things in memorable history. Something we Buddhists say is not to push anything too far. This anti-Muslim affair has gone too far. Muslims suffered with Sinhalese during the war from Tamil Tigers. Now are we going to make enemies of them? Who will benefit? Tamils. I know they have big problems with violence. We have to solve that tactfully not by confrontation.
Why do we kick our Muslim friends and embrace the enemy India? It doesn’t make sense.
India wants just this. Sinhalese to fight Muslims and Christians so that Indians can take over Sri Lanka. I can remember some Tamil Tigers who commented here were trying the same thing trying to create division between Sinhalese and Muslims and Christians.
Who built Buddhist education in this country when it was neglected? Ananda, Mahinda, Museus, Vishaka, Dharmaraja are some leading schools established by Christians by birth.
What we should do is the oppositte of what Shenali says. We should build peace with Muslims and Christians so that we can face the Hindu threat.
LTTE flag which is now the Tamil flag has a tiger. Look at the forehead. The tiger has Hindu ashes on it’s forehead. LTTE is a Hindu organisation.

However unpalatable the truth is, Shenali is dead right. What happens in Sri Lanka should not be viewed in isolation. Happenings in neighbouring India in Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram and other North Eastern tribal lands. They used to be Buddhist at one time till the Christian Evangelist hordes landed. They branded these cultures animist and pagan, although there is nothing more animist and pagan than the Christian Church in this world. The situation is the same with Karen in Burma and similar hill tribes in Cambodia, Vietnam cut off from the rest of the land in remote hill tracts. Today’s investigative articles by Sandhya Jain and Dr M K Teng point to these truths.
In Sri Lanka it is the Christian Church, Christian West and Christian LTTE together with the Christian UNP, Christian Colombians and their boot licking ‘Buddhists’ nexus that is in force. It is sad to see that some of the boot licking ‘Buddhists’ comes from so-called Buddhist Schools!
It is difficult to white wash the doings of the Christian Church and Christians by pointing out the names of a few Christian individuals who fought against the LTTE in the armed forces or in politics. We are yet to come across one Christian lay or church organization that spoke against the LTTE as an organized entity. There are individuals who had love for the motherland – Sri Lanka and her history and culture, but there is not a single occasion where they have taken issue with the Church on the issue of LTTE terrorism or other separatist forces in Sri Lanka as a collective! Most ran with the hares and hunted with the hounds!
The song and dance of many including Air Chief Marshal Born Again Christian Harry Gunatilleke and other prominent Christians such as Bishop Chikera, was that the war was unwinnable – The military strategist he was, Harry Gunatilleke – even quoted military strategists Sun Tzu and Karl von Clausewitz to demoralize Sri Lankan Armed Forces and persuade politicians not to engage the Tamil Tiger Terrorists militarily.
Their litany always ended with – Sinhalese Buddhists discriminating Tamil Hindus which was clearly a red herring to divert attention from the real perpetrators of division, disunity, and agenda for dismemberment of Sri Lanka as a stepping stone to balkanize India.
Sri Lankan Christian Church’s position is that power should be devolved to the provinces – This is to make way for eventual formation of Eelam. They too have eye for the North Western Province to be declared a Christian Province and for the gradual and eventual evangelization of Sri Lanka.
Evangelization is the softening Sri Lanka for eventual domination by the Christian West.
Hindu – Buddhist problems are manageable and reversible. That is not the same with Christian / Islamic problems. Sinhala Buddhists dilemma is lack of leadership. The two influential Mahanaykes are just two rich land owning gents in Buddhist robes with little understanding of the threats on Sri Lanka, Sinhala Buddhist culture and Buddhists. Their ‘head in the sand’ attitude and continued silence on issues of importance has not helped at all.
Let us not fail to see the woods for the trees! Let us see the bigger picture! What Shenali is potraying is the bigger picture and the mountains behind the trees!

guys i just got my fibre optic internet connection – oh what a feeling! never surfed internet at lightening speed! anyway shenali does research no one else does – we need to commend her for that. once on a corruption issue in pharmaceutical industry i had to correct her that there was so much money pharma companies spend, to the tune of (now) a billion dollars to spit out a single molecule. so prescription writers need to be looked after giving perks. as far as this forum is concerned she does a great job. very few in this forum are on the same plane, as we come form different backgrounds and consciousness levels.

The intent here is to find solutions to the problems faced by the Sinhala/Buddhist majority community of Sri Lanka.
In my view, there are three main problems faced by the Sinhala Buddhist community.
(1) The belief that there is no ‘God’. This belief is a somewhat isolating and lonely sort of belief. Contrary to the ‘no God theory’ the reality is that the same ‘something’ is there for everyone, of any religion. It is just that there are different words being used. ‘Truth’ (Sathya) was the word used in India for the word ‘God’. ‘Sathyameva Jayate’ the Indian motto means ‘Truth/God wins’. Truth/God/Allah means the same thing. There is no difference. When asked what Nirvana meant, the Buddha responded : “O Bhikkus, thre is the unborn, ungrown, and unconditioned. Were there not the unborn, ingrown and unconditioned, there would be no escape for the born, grown and conditioned. Since there is the unborn, ungrown and unconditioned, so there is escape for the born, grown and conditioned.
Here the four elements of solidity, fluidity, heat and motion have no place; the notion of length and breadth, the subtle and gross, good and evil, name and form are altogether destroyed; neither this world nor the other, nor cmong, going or standing, neither death nor birth, nor sense objects are to be found”. Now that is a perfect and scientific description of the other dimensional Vastness, call it Truth/God/Allah. (See Rev.Walpola Rahula’s book “What the Buddha Taught” page 37).
Because Nirvana is thus expressed in non material terms, there are many who think it expresses self annihilation. On the contrary, Nirvana means Union with God. “The Shinning dewdrop slips into the Shinning Ocean” said Edwin Arnold in his immortal book “the Light of Asia” (on the life of the Buddha). Similarly, Jesus said “I and my Father are One”. There is no destruction, only UNION with the Ultimate Vastness.
(2) The next problem is Modern Economic Theory. Buddhists find it hard to accept making money just purely for the sake of making money & profits to feed the stock market, as in the Capitalist system. It goes against the grain of the Buddhist Right Thinking, Right Action, etc. (the Noble Eightfold Path).
It is now apparent in the world that none of the economic -isms work well by themselves, and pure -isms are inimical to human life and happiness. The right combination of Socialism/Capitalism has to be found for Sri Lanka. Human well being & the preservation of the Environment must be the goals to reach, whilst other human needs (goods & services) are met.
The book ‘Small is Beautiful’ (Schumacher), may prove very useful to Sri Lankans looking for answers to create a good economic climate.
(3) Another problem is Security. If (1) & (2) are met with correct and balanced methods, then (3) ought not to prove difficult to handle.
* All citizens in the country must be held responsible for the Security Issues of the Nation. An Oath of Allegiance a must, to be taken at a young age in all schools (private & public). Allegiance to foreign sources have to stop.
* It is also a Security Issue to Modernise & Mechanise the local Labor sector, and not be over dependent on imported Tamil Labor as in British & Dutch times.
* Language is also a Security Issue, given the stubborn & stuck world of Tamil Nadu (Caste/poverty). Sinhala language with English as a strong link language a must. Tamil may remain an Official language.
* It is also a Security Issue to remove the 13-A from the Constitution, as well as deportation of all Illegal Migrants.

There are other points to be added on:
* Meditation for God/Truth realization. ‘Truth is within You’ said the Buddha. ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is Within You’ said Jesus. Islam means Peace (within). When people are at some peace within, a reasonable peace will automatically happen outside too.
* Zero tolerance for illegal migration or importing permanent labor from any country. No sale of land to foreigners. Set limits to Leases, say, to a maximum 10 years.
* Training in the Arts of Self Defence as in the Martial Arts. As someone suggested, should every Sinhela citizen be trained to form a standing army as in Switzerland, ready to defend the country ?
* Use of Alternative Renewable Energies as much as is possible.
* Re-vamp the Education System to meet the needs of the Nation.
I am sure there are many more points to add …..

Shenali has generated debate in seemingly deadlocked areas for which we thank her. She has written with good intent and that is good enough for us. The hours she has spent in research/writing articles is valued by almost all of the readers. As also we value and weep for the life blood split by the Sinhala villager to save the Nation, the entire Nation, from a fate worse than death at the hands of the ltte.
We also would like to thank Lankaweb for offering space to write in and expose facts about the problems facing the Nation, with possible solutions.

Looks like Fran Diaz is preaching Sai Baba concept to Buddhist as a commentator to an article which argues whether Christian Church is funding LTTE (which is true).
Buddha categorically denied the idea of “Creator God = Bhraman in Hinduism”. Are you the new Sai Baba to change Buddhism into Hinduism ? This is the main and formost threat to Buddhism in Sri lanka.
In fact there are a lot of Sai Baba Vegitarians who are LTTE supporters.

5 A FEW Tamil Christians and MANY Tamil Hindus are/were in the anti-SL camp including the LTTE.
6 ALL Tamil Madu large political party leaders are Tamil Hindus.
7 Sinhala LTTE are also there.

I am attempting to show the UNITY in all religions & philosophies. You personally do not have to accept anything except through your own EXPERIENCE. It is because of basic misunderstanding of spiritual matters that people go to war. I am merely attempting to STOP war which starts in the human mind, therefore the Meditation part.

Only Sai Baba attempted to say what you are saying and what he promoted was in fact Hinduism, with Bhajan on Fridays sung by Colomban Sinhala Buddhists in some Buddhist temples even. Many Buddhist became vegetarians and joined Sai and started to spread this nonsense of God=Nibbana=Brahman=Allah.
It will never be like this. How can it be ? Allah, who promotes killing and Jesus who killed fish cannot be compared with 200% peaceful Buddha.
I agree that there are similar statements made by different religious leaders, but Islam is a terror religion. So is Hinduism to some extent if you take Gita literally. It is bows, arrows , shooting.

Also, Nanda, I do not want to debate on any of the ‘tales’ that are told in any religion to emphasize certain points/lessons to masses of people of those times. Since the Buddha walked in the land of India after Hinduism had held sway over thousands of years there, the Buddha’s teachings must have been very modern for those times, as he stayed with the reality of life. The Buddha too is supposed to have related the Jathaka Tales to drive home certain points. I don’t want to confuse the reader with myth mixed with reality.
The Buddha’s teachings are forever as they are about real life for all times. The Caste system which existed before Prince Siddhartha was born, must have been a thorn in society even then. I sometimes think that the word ‘God’ must have appeared to be meaningless to someone unfortunate enough to be born as an Untouchable in those times. Buddhism, as you know, rejects the Caste system.
I think it is enough to take only the Core Teachings ONLY to show UNITY in all religions and philosophies.

it is our duty to up hold values based on whatever religon/philosophy etc. however our belief set is quite varied. nanda needs to be far more professional in dealing with statements made by others contradictory to his belief set. i have been with lankaweb from inception as this is run by my friend dharmasiri weerasinge who lives in england and planning to retire soon (i wonder what the fate of lankaweb be). he and i worked at valashena paper mill. of course i used the name sunil vijaya at the time i began writing to lankaweb.
during the past years i have come across people who tend to attack the writer, some times callosly, rather than commentating on the issue or statements made by the author. in fact it shows the weakness or some complex of that person. of course if a person attacks me personally i react.
in this case fran has mixed up with nibbaner and extended that to meeting with god and now says he wanted to draw parallelism in religions, which is a dangerous area to ponder as buddhism is neither a religion nor a philosphy. it could be best defined as Noble Truth. i have stated this ‘n’ times in this forum. baka or omnipotent god, he(thathagata) himself was once, but was a fool like any other being who suffer in this sansaara. enlightenment came slowly with millions of births and deaths eventuating in buddhagaya, like every other buddhas previous to him. those who believe in a god has both fear and faith and we buddhist and jains who do not belive in a god, fear karma vipaaker, which drives us to be virtuous. jataka tales are not myths or tales – buddha related these in suttras, where he showed the relationship of cause and effect or karma(actions) and vipaaker or action and reaction. he always had a simile to explain things to puthajjanas who had difficulty in understanding his statements, which were contradictory to vedas and vedantas.

Fran’s intentions seems to be pure and honest. However he is confused the truth with the myths.
The statement , “Since the Buddha walked in the land of India after Hinduism had held sway over thousands of years there,..”, is grossly wrong. There was no “Hindustan” in Buddha’s time.
There was no HINDUISM in Buddha’s time, whence Brahmins use to kill anumals for sacrifices. Now Brahmins are vegetarians ! That shows that the Buddhism combined with old Brhaminism and very old vedic stuff has created the most unfortuante religion called “HINDUISM”.

Appreciate comments on my views. My main concern is for the welfare of the Sinhala/Buddhist masses who comprise over 50% of the people here. They are the ones who have suffered most through the some 500 yrs of Colonial rule, the various uprisings of the JVP & ltte, Cold War, etc. They are ones who die in for the country in the various internal wars, or get killed in uprisings. All others have powerful external friends through their respective religions.
Sinhala/Buddhists must become far more active in the growth of the economy of Lanka, and growth in all other spheres as well. They need to become active and wise participants, not be bystanders watching their own lives & security being frittered away in other peoples wars.
I firmly believe that finding common ground in the Core Teachings of various religions is the lasting safety net for the masses of Lanka. Meditation & Contemplation are the twin keys to achieve this goal. Those who Meditate together, stay together, at least in a relative peace & harmony, as they begin to understand the true nature of life itself.

From what I know Tamil terrorists, the Indian terrorist outfit contribute a lot to Christian charities in the West. Money coming from India and Indians living outside India. Tamils are Indians.
It is time we think correctly and look at facts as they are. Indians who are Hindus can easily accomodate the Christian God to their pack of gods.
I know one one such Tamil who was a Batist lay preacher who was to be the Governor of the Eelam of Ezam Tamils who was treated with a Hindu funeral ceromony. He was felicitated with the highest terrorist felicitation Mahamathir by the Indian terrorist puppet Parabakan post-humously.

Eelaam is a Church funded LTTE-driven Pan-Christian Political Agenda – This is the title of the article here. Much of the responders are straying away from the topic and confusing the main issues so well articulated by Shenali. The larger picture of ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka is that it is a construct of the Christian West ably assisted by the Christian Church on the ground in Sri Lanka and abroad to dismember Sri Lanka as a stepping stone to balkanise India. It is the Christian Church and its organizations that took the Eelam message around the world and collected funds, lobbied with foreign governments with the intent of dismembering Sri Lanka. Some Sri Lankan Christians and even bootlicking Sinhala Buddhists abroad assisted in this dastardly unpatriotic work.
Sri Lanka has been a political and geographical entity for millennia, while India is only colonial construct. India as we knew in history was a notional land with no specific geographical boundaries.
We acknowledge there are patriotic Christians, Muslims and even Hindus who are for a Unitary Sri Lanka. The fact of the matter is while acknowledging their commitment and heroism – to say a few “Swallows do not make a Summer” Then there are others who just did their duty and yet again there were those, who foot dragged while serving in the services. The main point I want to emphasize is that there wasn’t even a single organized attempt by any Christian Organization worth its name who took up issues with the Christian Church for its dastardly agenda and conduct . They all kept mum sympathizing with the Sinhalese, while condoning all Anti- Sri Lanka work of the Christian Church. Sinhala Christians have a lot of soul searching to do if they and really intent on achieving any reconciliation with the Sinhala Buddhists, simply because we know what you did collectively during the last 30 years giving moral support to the Tamil Racists.
The victory at Nanthi Kadal was possible mainly due to the preparation of the ground swell by the likes of Ven Madihe Pannaseeha Maha Thero and Soma Thero and a host of other Sinhala patriots. It was this factor that maintained discipline not to react to acts of grave provocations over a period of 27 years and over 370 suicide-attacks – and stood firm with the notion that the war with the Racist Tamils was winnable. It is the Sinhala Buddhist nation that provided without any reservation or demand the necessary military might to President Rajapakse, the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse to lead the war and finish in right royal fashion. The Great Humanitarian Operation that went with the slogan “Zero Civilian Casualties” has no parallel anywhere in the world. Even though it may not have happened in practically impossible instances – that was the actual intent.
The Chrisitan West knew that it was an operation that would have been given the Noble Peace Price for, but took entirely the opposite action to vehemently negate the truth. What can we expect in a world where this so called Peace Price was given to the likes of President Obama for “no show” and to the EU for carrying out genocide and regime change!

As for Fran Diaz, Please refrain from trying to bring in the God virus into the sublime teachings of Lord Buddha. Buddhism is one religion that gives a world view without a creator. Even the latest scientific findings suggest that there is no need for a creator to explain the happenings of the seen universe to function as it was and is. As for mediation that you so actively promote, there are and have been many practices of meditation in other religions, but it is only in Buddhism that you find meditation taken to majestic heights. Buddhist mediation leads through systematic investigation of the mind to ultimate achievement of Nibbana and Enlightenment. Lord Buddha categorically rejected the notion of God as preached by the Brahmins and Rishis of his time. So there is no “Shining Dew drops falling into the Shining Ocean” join with the Godhead or Atman in Buddhism.
It is rather disingenuous to bring the notion of God into the subject of Buddhism by subtle means. Please don’t try to equate the blood thirsty, burnt flesh loving Abrahmic God – jehovah or Allah or Jesus to equate with Ultimate Truth. The Ultimate Truth is the realisation of Nibbana and definitely not a union with a blood thirsty tyrant who loves bloody sacrifices and his celestial dictatorship.
Please refrain from this unholy exercise of trying to slowly creep into relevant political discussions and lead astray the line of debate and argument. You can contribute to the welfare of Sinhala Buddhist simply by being honest and forthright. Practice your religion and do it honestly. When you find obvious contradictions in your religion – like why should I worship a God who loves the smell of burnt flesh – Leviticus- then it is time to resort to higher levels of investigative thinking and Buddhist meditation to find the real truth!

My Dear Shenali, Where did you find out that Buddha visited Sri Lanka? How did he come and how many times did he visit? So…so…you believe there was Krishna, Rama and even Hanuman, so there was other man’s wife stealing Ravana too? Will you say where you got these facts established or you saw in a dream. There are facts that no British or Indians (includes all kinds of Indians, Tamils, Sikhs, Keralayans etcetc) like to admit as facts when seen through the eyes of victims of Indian Colonialism and Imperialism. Any victim who rebel becomes the worst human being on earth. Take Idi Amin a man who kicked the Indian colonial parasites out of Uganda. The best example of Indian colonial parasite is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or Bapu or Mahathma Gandhi. He made his financial and political fortunes out of Black Africa.He man who refused to travel with blacks because they not good enough for him.
Tamils in in the island are the only group of in the who can claim that they lived away across 27km separated by the sea for thousands of years and have the same properties of the originals. Something the Vikings or French in British isles do not claim. These people have integrated with the locals over the years. Tamils and other Indians in the island came with the British as Sepoys, administrators and coolies and they are not different to other Indian colonial parasites in Fiji to West Indiies and in between including the island nation.
Ramayana is a Hindian story and I am sure Rawana the great went to Indian subcontinent for hunting, his hobby or sport. Hunting for the opposite sex is part of the game and I am sure Seeta with other women accompanied the great hunter and other hunters back to his home. It was not a possible thing those days to carry a protesting woman all that way. I am sure she enjoyed Rawana on the way and also the stay with him in the island Lankadweepa. There are lots of facts in old stories and one has to look at them without any beliefs. One is free to believe that Seeta has kept her pathiwata as most of the Indians believe of their female parners.

So you believe that there was a Ravana who trekked thousands of miles in search of women as he could not find any women in Dhamma Deepa who could satisfy his extreme carnal desire? By the way who this Ravana is? Is he a Sinhalese, Tamil, Naga, Yaksha or Veddha? So in addition you also have proof that this Ravana had the ability to even satisfy this woman Seetha whom he abducted from India and worst still a married woman? My dear Christie, will you be able to say what special capability this Ravana had compared to other men in India including her swamiya Rama? Do you mean to say that Ravana was so well endured to satisfy not only Seetha but other women too at one go? How did these women find out about Ravana’s great stamina and stand mate? Did he too have the habit of lifting his dress to expose his person to passing by women, a habit that is still heavily practised in SL?
Christie, thank god Ravana or similar guys are not around in large numbers back at home and otherwise our story teller Shenali too may get lifted from her home and you may have to play the role of Hanuman to salvage her and hand her over back to her swamiya. And let all hope and pray that she was not preyed upon during the period of detention by the great Romeo and sex starved Ravana. Ramayana is the gretest Hindu epic, is it? The story is the same all around India but their are suttle differences. The charater Seetha is abot the “pathiwatha of a female” faithful female. The nuture does not fit one male to one female. Seetha looked after her ‘Pathiwatha” until Rama rturned and took her back, probably not with enthusism. This sets out the behavior of women towards men witin hindunism. One man and when the guy pass away you are to jump in the funeral fire. If the man dies before then, if you are good looking it is a feast for the Brahmins of the Temple.
The English goes for hunting expeditions these days too nad hunting safaris for tourists are stll common around the world. Rwana was a man from Lankadweepa I am sure that is the name in the Ramayana. It was long before the days of “Dhamma”. Those days there were no Tamils in the island nation and locals were hunters. They were hunters until early last century.
Buddhism does not forbid eating meat and if you kill an animal then you pansil again.
By the way Chinmaya Foundation has built a temple of some sort near BelihulOya where Rawana kept beautiful Seetha. I am sorry if I hurt feelings or beleifs of some.

what do you mean “nature does not fit one male to one female”? Are you referring to polygamy? May be ..may…be..but civilization and social reforms have made attempts to confine one man to one woman but as you feel you have the right to graze around but that does not mean that all practice of what you believe in! You may even be referring to the so-called Kandyan Hospitality, or wife swapping parties that are pretty common in Colombo?
Coming to hunting safaris, present day hunting safaris and hunting during Ravana’s time must have been entirely different! Thousands of miles, no Mihin Air, no helicopter, no entourage, no five star hotels, snake and wild beast infested jungles, Malaria, etc and by the time Ravana reached his destination he would not have had a chance to do anything leave aside having any form sexual activity with Seetha? Or could this be the reason why Seetha remained a “pathivitha” or “pathivirathai”! Christie, you compel me to believe the well known saying, “virginity is the lack of opportunity”! But Seetha being a married woman would not have been a virgin to begin with unless of course Rama was impotent but there is no proof for that unless some historians find out this too.
By the way you have not clarified my question as to whether Ravana was a Sinhala? After SL Sinhalas fallen out with Indians, especially after the recent UN fiasco, some even deny the traditional belief that Buddha was born in India and instead they have now shifted to Nepal. Didn’t you hear one of our several ministers uttering at a public rally that Buddha even visited his holly electorate of Mahiyangana? How did Buddha visit Sri Lanka is still a mystery and so you may be coming out with this novel idea that he was born right here in Sri Lanka! Ravana’s safari to north India in search of women and Buddha’s visits to Sri Lanka to reform the barbarians into a civilised people appear to be a similar exercise but for different purposes.
