The Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka held its 7th Annual Research Conference

The Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka held its 7th Annual Research Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences on 27th, 28th and 29th March 2014 at the Mahaweli Centre for which nearly 400 papers was submitted.


The chief guest was Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama, Chairperson of the University Grants Commission. Others in the photo are Prof. Ranjith Senaratne, Vice Chairperson of UGC, Prof. Y.S. Alone of Jawarhalal Nehru University, Mr. Vasantha Ekanayake, Secretary, Ministry of Culture and the Arts, Dr. Malini Dias, Vice President of RAS and Dr. Susantha Goonatilake, President of RAS making the inaugural speech.


In the second photo is Prof. Alone giving the keynote speech on “Ambedkar’s embracing of Buddhism and the transformation among Indian Dalits” at the Inaugural Symposium on “Dharmapala, Ambedkar and the revival of Buddhism in India and the world”
