It was very clear from the time of the dissolution of the Parliament and end of the Government run by a minority party leader Ranil Wickramsinghe, the President Sirusena was compelled by the masses to taken various steps contrary to his conviction and the agenda of his Western and Indian masters.
The latest episode in the series of attempts by President Sirisena to marginalize the expectations of the masses is the statement issued by him to indicate he will be the final decision maker in appointing the Prime Minister in the coming Parliament as the President of the SLFP and the joint front. But, it has to be mentioned that ultimately the country’s voters will decide who the leader of the SLFP and the joint front and the two entities will have the power to change the Presidency of the party.
The public should expect more of these statements by the President Sirisena in the coming days as per the agenda of the West, India and the pro-LTTE fronts in his futile efforts to de-rail the election campaign of the nationalist forces. But, the nationalist forces should clearly explain the sources and the objective of the President’s plan to the masses and also reiterate that the sabotage planned will be aimed at the unitary Sri Lanka and against Mahinda Rajapakese who provided the dauntless leadership in defeating the Tamil Tigers
The questionable façade of good governance by Sirisena- Ranil administration was exposed by the introduction of draconian law to persecute political opponents, evading three no confidence motions and central bank treasury bills robbery during the short span of nearly 150 days. It was like the pot calling the kettle black! However much the attempts made to
blacken the image of Mahinda Rajapakse who lead Sri Lanka to the victory against the most brutal terrorist group and ushered in a period of peace including paving the way to an unparalleled economic development of the nation, the masses have no forgotten the days of Chandrika’s and Ranil’s rule when they faced death at the hands of terrorists almost every day..
It is within a unitary Sri Lanka the country can prosper. When one listens to the tales of misery, death and destruction from the countries which are Balkanized only one can realize the importance of a unitary country and why we should strive to protect it.
In spite of President Sirisena’s foul play, the masses and the nationalist forces must carry this message to all corners of Sri Lanka and expose and condemn President Sirisena’s crude tactics

I agree with you Ranjith. As another politician and a journalist pointed out it is not upto the President to choose as has happened in the past but to the parliament. I think our President is getting more and more confused and also disoriented with what’s going on. This is what happens when people were given things that they can’t handle. I feel sorry for him at times as it is very clear that RW/CBK/Rajitha/Mangala and co used him as a puppet to get what they wanted. Now MY3 is abandoned by that group.
I sincerely hope Sri Lankan people have the decency to remember how it was before MR/GR cleaned the LTTE mess left by UNP/RW/CBK for 28 years. How uncertain the life was in Sri Lanka during those years? Also we all must not forget that it is JVP who started the terror in Sri Lanka in 1971 who killed so many innocent Sinhalese people. Not only that they destroyed one whole generation of young Sinhalese boys and girls and they never killed or harmed a single Tamil or Muslim as far as I know. Now all these parties are talking as they are saints and the best who helped the Sri Lankans to have a normal life without fear of going out to school or work. Champika who called RW as the present day Don Juan Dharmpala not that long ago is contesting under UNP logo as a UNPer and praising that anti Sinhala/Buddhist. I have lost the trust and faith I had in him all these years and supported him without prejudice. He has become another rogue politician.

Ranjit and Rohanana !!! There is no question that Sirisena is a Square Peg in a Round Hole. He has stooped to such low levels, that he cannot be considered as Presidential Material. His governance is day to day, by trial and error methods. He has a whole lot of Traitors on his back, like a tortoise carrying Beetles on his back.
The BIGGEST GRAND LARCENY allegedly committed in this Country, SRI LANKA, is by RANIL MAHENDRAN AND RAVI. Of them TWO ARE TAMILS. So now, Ranil says that no ROGUES will be given Nominations by him and his Party. This is akin to LOCKING THE GATES AFTER THE HORSES HAVE BOLTED. The VIRIDU completely reflects Ranils hand in this BIGGEST FRAUD THE COUTRY HAS EVER SUFFERED.
MAY A CURSE COME ON ALL THESE ROGUE POLITICIANS. TO HELL WITH THEM.

This puppet of a president is not only a traitor, he is an insult to all intelligent and peace loving patriotic citizens of Sri Lanka. Who the hell he thinks he is to prevent peoples choice as PM when Mahinda and the UPLF wins the election with an absolute majority. If he tries to follow orders from India and the west, he should be impeached immediately.

With his actions up to now he has shown that he is either going to be harsh repressive dictator for the rest of his term which will be very harmful to the country in many ways or just be a sidelined figure head not invied or involved in any activity.
The word was out that he has instructed the FCID officials to arrest some 30 odd people who are contesting this election from the UPFA not withstanding the elections.
Yes,Sarath W. he should be impeached but first he should be kicked out of the SLFP and the UPFA. If not Mahinda will be playing right back in to his hands. Mahinda must take back the party and side line the hench men of Sirisena and prevent them from being elected.
Who the hell he think he is? the president, is only the keeper and not the owner.

It appears Soirisena is a weakling who is now being ordered by forces that put him on this Presidential pedestal, to do illegal things. He has already violated the constitution by sacking a CJ, and also, appointing a Prime Minister from a minority party. He has practiced nepotism by appointing his kith and kin to high positions and also allowed the leaders in this unelected minority government he established, to practice nepotism. He has attacked the democratic way of rule, by dissolving the parliament when the COPE report on Central Bank fraud was about to be tabled and along with the no confidence motions against Ranil and Ravi. He has violated good governance by taking a position against one candidate by making disparaging comments about that candidate, whilst being silent about Ranil and in fact trying to create a path for Ranil to win.
He is now saying he will not appoint MR as Prime Minister even if MR wins. According to former CJ Sarath Silva, Maithri though behaving like a Vairee , hasn’t got the power to select a Prime Minister anymore, as under the 19th amendment, the President has to merely rubber stamp the selection of a Prime Minister selected by a majority of Parliamentarians. So he is a poor lost man, pushed around to do illegal things by powerful forces. We should feel sorry for Maithri.

In my eyes let alone as President my3 has failed as a human being. He is a man whose word you cannot trust. He changes what he says at least 3 times a day. If he cannot support the SLFP he must resign and hand it over to MR. His low breeding shows in his behavior. He will get together with the traitors like RW and CBK and gladly divide up the country to keep his miserable position and power. Our people really fell in to a trap laid by the think tanks of foreign countries and he will do his best to keep his power even it means stooping to very low level acts. He was so quick to take a court order to prevent SLFP having a meeting. Why did he not act to remove the Governor of the Central Bank?

President Sirisena’s contempt for the Constitution demonstrates that he is not a leader who can be trusted to uphold the oath he took on assumption of the Office of President. He seems to repeatedly act as though the Constitution does not exist and that he can do what he want in violation of the rules of Governance. Is this Good Governance?
Is he ignorant or is he completely dictatorial? Together with the PM whom he appointed through the back door and is now attempting to support without the neutrality that is demanded of him as President, he can cause untold damage to Sri Lanka’s Democracy if the UNP Chief RanilW, already well known for his dictatorial handling of the Cabinet and his Pary, is nominated PM despite the current Parliamentary Rules. Sri Lanka has to be wrested from the shipwreck that lies ahead.

The majority of backward Sri Lankans do not know how to select their leader. They have elected uneducated low level politician as their president. We are helpless because the selection is in the hand of general public. The new president cannot speak, write or read English language though he had been a minister for decades. The international political community likes such people as they can command over such mutts. A masquerading fox once became the king of jungle after his face was colored. However, one day the fox had to shout with its own voice that every animal found it was a fox. The fox was torn to stripes. These things happen among human being too. A good example appeared on the 8th of Jan 2015.

Nilwala is right. This is how the their system worked. TAMILS FOR OBAMA, they are in SL by the thousands. Flagged the person in white house and interrupted OBAMA. (Obama is very busy with Iran issues) Voters against Sisena president are increasing rapidly, so OBAMA called Rail Punk to tell he should disregard the constitution and he is above the SL constitution.
