Journalists across the country in protest against the Navy Commander while Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe admits that he personally directed Navy commander to break up,the strike.

Journalists across the country began a massive protest in front of the Fort in Colombo today to protest against the Navy Commander for attacking journalists while they were reporting the tense atmosphere prevailed between the Magampura port workers and Navy a few days ago.
Media Employees Trade Union Federation, Working Journalists Association, Sri Lanka Association of Young Journalists, Tamil Journalists Association, Sri Lanka Association Media photographers, and several members of the media organizations took part in the protest.
Rural Journalist also from Colombo district, Ampara, Kandy, Moratuwa, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Matale and Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Kegalle joined the protest..
Another agitation against the attack on the journalist were held by the Hewagama korale Media Association (15) in Godagama.
Meanwhile speaking to reporters after meeting with the Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who handed over a report detailing the recent navy operation carried out at the Hambantota, the prime minister said two shipping companies called me and asked that their ships, which were prevented from leaving, be protected and safeguard from any harm.
After discussing with the President and the Defence Secretary, I asked the Navy Commander to go and protect those ships and helped them leave the harbour.”
Because we have to hand over this port to a new company on January 7th,” Prime Minister said the government has to protect these ports according to the international agreements and that ships will not return to Sri Lanka if those are not implemented.
We asked the Navy Commander to act on that. The navy faced obstacles when attempting to clear the ships. However, they managed to remove them from there.”
He said that a permanent navy camp will be established at the Hambantota Port because unlike Colombo, a petroleum refinery and a LNG plant will be established in Hambantota He, however, emphasized that this incident caused harm to the country and created a problem regarding the Hambantota Port.
He also said that the government has now been asked to pay damages for the losses incurred by the shipping companies.
The Prime Miniter further said that legal action will be pursued against anyone who is found to have damaged property or violated the law in any manner. –
Meanwhile Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the recent incident at the Hambantota Port can be seen as the first instance of the navy being used to sabotage a strike action.
He said that the current Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, who has been accused of assaulting a journalist during the protest, was a very talented officer during the war.
Rajapaksa said that he believes the navy chief was probably sent there and made to do what he did by people who wanted to make the people level accusations against the navy.
The Kurunegala District UPFA MP added that when the young port employees came to visit him he told them that they will be employed as soon as we come to power” and if there is anything remaining in the Ports Authority.” I told them if it remains because what is the point of an authority once all the ports are sold,” he told reporters in Colombo. Rajapaksa also stated that they are being accused of making deals” with the government even if they talk against the government or if they meet an MP or a minister. Either Mahinda Rajapaksa’s deal or Basil Rajapaksa’s deal.” –

This is a coup by RW where he was able to achieve two things at the same time. He was able to tarnish the image of the Navy Commander and also create enmity between the forces and the people. In the Wikipedia, Ranil is described as a Theravada Buddhist, but his actions belie this. In a situation which called for the Police what RW did was to send in the Navy knowing it would escalate and then create a clash between the Navy and the people. I wonder who does his thinking for R?.
Why were the protestors not called for talks by either RW or MY3. Why do they always let loose the Armed Forces instead of discussing with the protestors about their issues? This is the same thing that happened in 1970-71 when the JVP rioted for lack of jobs and also in 1988-90 when the JVP rioted against the 13A which was passed illegally by UNP. How many Sinhala youths were tortured and killed by RW and UNP. I also believe the Yahapalanaya is distracting the people from the real issues like the new Constitution and the ETCA, selling of the Hambantota harbor and the Cost of living which has escalated due to the corruption and incompetence of the Yahapalanaya.
I saw a news item that the new Central Bank Governor is going to dump all three COPE reports. This means the main culprits RW and his pal Arjun Mahendran will go scot free. High time someone started a new Commission to take into account all the wrongs that have been done by RW against Sri Lanka and the Sinhala Buddhist people starting with the Batalanda report. There is an endless list of wrongs this man has committed against the country and the people. This is going to be his final swansong where he will ensure the destruction of the land by breaking it up into separate provinces. Our uneducated Provincial ministers and Parliamentarians will be very happy. They will have mini kingdoms where they can sell off the land and indulge in any fancy deals and get unbelievably rich. The Tamils in the North will be able to bring in 15 million Dalit Tamils from India to fill their Province and then expand into the Sinhala Provinces and take them over. As always RW will be highly amused and will be laughing his sides out in some foreign clime while Sri Lanka gets destroyed.

I agree with you that the Yamapalanaya is trying to DISTRACT the attention of people away from their anti-national GUNDUS like the ETCA, the unresolved GREAT CENTRAL BANK ROBBERY, but more than all of that the NEW CONSTITUTION which will create a proto-EELAM by STEALTH!
The IMPENDING DIVISION of Sri Lanka into communal Bantustans is the MOST IMPORTANT issue facing patriotic Sri Lankans today ….. and THAT is what the YAMSPALANAYA wants to HIDE from view and pass by STEALTH!

Navy Commander’s behavious is thuggish and ugly. Yet he is not the root cause ! We surely need commanders like this to control terrorists but Ranil using them to terrorise protestors.

We already have a TAMIL ONLY north and a another province controlled by Muslims.
This was established in 2013. That was why 13 amendment should have been SCRAPPED.
Even if federal is put up by YAMAPALANA govt. the JO will not SCRAP it.
Look at MR’s FACEBOOK page. He has been to MORE NON-BUDDHIST places than to BUDDHIST PLACES even in 2016.
Then look at GR’s. WOW! Do you see the difference?

අපි ආවේ හොරු අල්ලන්න ඒක බැරිනම් යන්න ඕනෑ
හම්බන්තොට වරාය සේවකයින්ගේ රැකියා ස්ථිර කිරීම හා එම වරාය, චීන සමාගමට විකිණීම පදනම් කොටගෙන වරාය වෘත්තීය සමිති සටනක් දියත් කිරීමට ගත් තීරණයත් සමග පසුගිය සතියේ රටේ කතාබහ ඒ දෙසට යොමුවිය.
නාවික හමුදාපතිවරයා එහිදී මාධ්‍යවේදියකු හට පහරදීමේ සිද්ධියත් සමග තත්ත්වය තවත් උණුසුම් විය. මෙරට ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ මාධ්‍ය ආයතන පමණක් නොව සමාජ මාධ්‍යයද මෙම සිදුවීමට විශේෂ තැනක් ලබා දී තිබිණ. මෙම සිදුවීමට අදාළ විවිධ උපහාසාත්මක නිර්මාණවලින් මෙම සතිය පුරාම මුහුණු‍පොත් ප්‍රධාන සමාජ වබේ අඩවි පිරී තිබිණි.
හම්බන්තොට වරාය ආශ්‍රිතව සිදු වූ මෙම සිදුවීම පිළිබඳව මුලින්ම පාර්ලිමේන්තුවට ද දැනුම් දුන්නේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී විමල් වීරවංශ මහතාය. ඒ පසුගිය සෙනසුරාදා දින පාර්ලිමේන්තු අයවැය විවාදය පැවැත්වෙමින් පැවැති අතරතුරය. මෙම විවාදය පැවැත්වෙමින් ඇති අතර තුර හදිසියේ පැමිණ නැගී සිටි වීරවංශ මහතා හම්බන්තොට වරායේ සිදුවෙමින් පැවැති මෙම සේවක උද්ඝෝෂණ පිළිබඳව එහිදී මාධ්‍යවේදියා ඇතුළු පිරිසකට සිදු වූ පරහදීමක් පිළිබඳව කරුණු දැක්විය.
ඒ අනුව නැගී සිටි ඒකාබද්ධ විපක්ෂයේ සෙසු මන්ත්‍රීවරුද, හම්බන්තොට වරාය තුළ සිදුවෙමින් පවතින මෙම උද්ඝෝෂණය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වන්නට විය. විශේෂයෙන්ම වරායේ උද්ඝෝෂණයක නිරතව සිටින සේවක පිරිස වෙත නාවික හමුදාව වෙතින් එල්ල වෙතැයි පැවැසෙන පහරදීම වහා නතර කළයුතු බවද මෙහිදී ඒකාබද්ධ විපක්ෂයේ මන්ත්‍රීවරු කථානායකවරයා වෙත දැනුම් දුන්හ.
වරාය වෘත්තීය සමිති ආරම්භ කළ මෙම සටනට සහය දක්වමින් ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණු දේශපාලන මණ්ඩල සභික ලාල්කාන්ත මහතාද එම විරෝධතා හා සම්බන්ධ විය.
‘ මන්ත්‍රීතුමා අපි මුලින්ම රැවැට්ටුවේ රාජපක්ෂ ආණ්ඩුව. අපි වරායට ගත්තේ වරාය සේවකයින් ලෙස නෙවෙයි. පෞද්ගලික ආයතනයක් හදලා ඒ ආයතනයේ සේවකයින් විදියට තමයි අපි වරායේ වැඩ කළේ’ සේවකයෙක් තම ගැටලු ලාල්කාන්තට ඉදිරිපත් කළේය. ‘ ඒ විතරක් නෙවෙයි අපි ස්ථිර කරනවා කියලා පොරොන්දුවකුත් දුන්නා. ස්ථිර කළේ නැහැ. මේ ආණ්ඩුව ආවට පස්සෙත් ඒ වැරදි නිවැරදි වුණේ නැහැ’ තවත් සේවකයෙක් කීවේය. ‘රාජපක්ෂ ආණ්ඩුව කා‍ලේ අපිව දේශපාලන වැඩවලට යොදා ගත්තා. වරායේ සේවකයින් කියලා අපිට කිසිදු අයිතියක් දුන්නේ නැහැ. මූලික පඩිය දහදාහට තමයි අපි බඳවා ගත්තේ.’ තවත් සේවකයෙක් පැවැසීය. ‘ගහෙන් වැටුණ මිනිහට ගොනා ඇන්න වගේ දැන් මේ ආණ්ඩුව වරාය චිනෙට විකුණන්න යනවා. ස්ථිර කරලා නැති අපිට ජොබ් එක නැතිවෙන්න යන්නේ’ තවත් සේවකයෙක් තමන්ගේ රැකියා අනාරක්ෂිතභාවය ගැන කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළේය.
“පහුගිය ආණ්ඩුවේ වැරදි හදන්න ආපු මේ ආණ්ඩුව වැරදි හදනවා වෙනුවට තව තවත් වැඩියෙන් වැරදි කරනවා. මේ විකිනිල්ල මෙතනින් නතර වෙන්නේ නැහැ. තවත් රාජ්‍ය ආයතන ලිස්ට් එකක් තියෙනවා විකුණන ලැයිස්තුවේ. අපි ඒ හැම එකකටම විරුද්ධව පාරට බහින්න ඕනෑ. වරාය සේවකයෝ විදියට ඔබලා ඒ සටන ආරම්භ කිරීමේ ගෞරවය ඔබලාට ලැබෙන්නෙ ඕනෑ. ජනාධිපතිතුමා කතා කරන්නේ හරියට හැම දෙයක්ම සාකච්ඡාවෙන් විසඳනවා වගේ. ඒත් ප්‍රශ්න කල්දාන එකයි කරන්නේ. බස් වර්ජනය වෙලාවෙත් සංගම් කැඳවලා ලොකු ප්‍රෝඩාවක් කළා. ඒ නිසා සටනකින් තොරව මේ ආණ්ඩුවට බලපෑම් කරන්න බැහැ” ලාල්කාන්ත පිළිතුරු දුන්නේය. වරාය සේවකයින්ගේ උද්ඝෝෂණයේදී වත්මන් නාවික හමුදාපතිවරයා මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකුට පහරදීමත් සමග ඔහු පිළිබඳව විවිධ මාතෘකා නිර්මාණය වීමට පටන් ගත්තේය. ජ.වි.පෙ. මන්ත්‍රී වෛද්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මෙම නාවික හාමුදාපතිවරයා පිළිබඳ අප්‍රකට කරුණක් සුනිල් හඳුන්නෙත්තිට මතක් කර දීමට කටයුතු කළේය.
‘මේ නාවික හමුදාපතිවරයාට සම්බන්ධ පරණ කතාවක් තියෙනවා. යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂට නියමිත සුදුසුකම් නැතිව නාවික හමුදාවේ ඉහළ තනතුරක් ලබාදීම ගැන විමර්ශන කරන්න කියලා. අපි ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්ට ලිපියක් දුන්නා. ඒ වෙලාවේ විමර්ශනවලට කැඳවපු ප්‍රධාන නිලධාරියා මේ නාවික හමුදාපතිවරයායි. ඔහු තමයි යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂට සියලු පහසුකම් ලබාදෙමින් ඔහුගේ සුදුසුකම්වලට එහා ගිය නිලතල ලබාදෙන්න කටයුතු කරලා තිබුණේ.’ නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මන්ත්‍රීවරයා පැහැදිලි කළේය. ‘හරි හරි.. ඒක තමයි රහස. හමුදාපති විදියට උඩට එන්න ලැබිලා තියෙන්නෙත් රාජපාක්ෂික වුණ නිසා වෙන්න ඇති. එහෙම කරපු කෙනා දැන් මේ ආණ්ඩුවේ අවධානය ගන්න මාධ්‍යවේදීන්ට පහර දෙනවා. මේවා ජනතාවත් දැන ගන්න ඕන දේවල්. සුනිල් හඳුන්නෙත්ති ජයතිස්ස මන්ත්‍රීවරයාට කියා සිටියේය.
මෙවර කැබිනට් මණ්ඩල රැස්විමේදී විශේෂ අවධානයක් යොමු වූයේ පසුගිය කාලයේ සිදු වූ මහ පරිමාන වංචා දූෂණ සම්බන්ධයෙන් කටයුතු කිරීම සඳහා වෙනම විශේෂිත අධිකරණයක් පිහිටුවීම පිළිබඳවය.
මේ සඳහා වන කැබිනට් පත්‍රිකාවක් අමාත්‍යවරුන් 15 දෙනෙකුගේ අත්සන් සහිතව ඒකාබද්ධ කැබිනට් පත්‍රිකාවක් ලෙස අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලය වෙත ඉදිරි පත් කෙරිණි.
මේ යෝජනාව ජනාධිපතිවරයා පිළිගත් අතර එය මේ මොහොතේ රටට අවශ්‍ය වූ කරුණක් ලෙසද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී හඳුනා ගත්තේය.
ඔව්, මේ මහාපරිමාණ වංචා දූෂණ විභාග කිරීමට වෙනම අධිකරණයක් අවශ්‍යයි. සාමාන්‍ය අධිකරණයක් හරහා මෙය කිරීමට ගියොත් විශාල කාලයක් ගත වෙනවා’ යැයිද එහිදී ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.
අපි ආවේ හොරු අල්ලන්න. අපිට එය කරන්න බැරිනම් වැඩක් නැහැ. එහෙනම් අපි යන්න ඕන. යැයිද මෙහිදී ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා දැඩ් ස්වරයෙන් සඳහන් කළේය.
මෙම කැබිනට් පත්‍රිකාවට අත්සන් තබා තිබූ රාජිත සේනාරත්න, පාඨලී චම්පික රණවක, මහින්ද අමරවීර, තලතා අතුකොර්රාළ ඇතුළු කැබිනට් අමාත්‍යවරුද මෙහිදී මෙම අධිකරණයේ ඇති අවශ්‍යතාවය පිළිබඳව පුළුල්ව මෙහිදී කරුණු දැක්වූහ.
මෙවර අමාත්‍යමණ්ඩල රැස්වීමේදීද පසුගියවර මෙන්ම මුදල් අමාත්‍ය රවි කරුණානායක මහතා හා අමාත්‍ය පාඨලී චම්පක රණවක මහතා අතර යම් මත ගැටුමක් ඇතිවිය.
මෙහිදී අමාත්‍ය පාඨලී චම්පික රණවක මහතා චෝදනා කර සිටියේ බස්නාහිර සංවර්ධනය සඳහා ප්‍රමාණවත් පරිදි මුදල් වෙන් වි නොමැති බවය.
‘බස්නාහිර පළාතේ වැසිකිළි කැසිකිළි හදන්නවත් වෙන් කර ඇති මුදල් මදි’ යැයි මෙහිදී චම්පික රණවක මහතා සඳහන් කර සිටියේ දැඩි ස්වරයෙනි.
‘නාගරික සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියට දෙන මුදලත් භාණ්ඩාගරය උදුර ගන්න හදනවා’ මම ඒකෙ සල්ලි සත පහක්වත් භාණ්ඩාගරයට දෙන්නේ නැහැ’ යැයිද මෙහිදී රණවක මහතා තරමක කෝපයෙන් රවි කරුණානායක මහතාට පැවැසීය.
රවි කරුණානායක මහතාද මෙහිදී රණවක මහතාගේ අදහස්වලට විරුද්ධව අදහස් දැක්වීම හේතුවෙන් දෙදෙනා අතර තරමක දැඩි වාග් සංග්‍රාමයක් ඇතිවිය. කෙසේ වෙතත් සෙසු අමාත්‍යවරුන්ගේ මැදිහත්වීම මත දෙදෙනාම පසුව නිහඬ වූහ.
හම්බන්තොට වරායේ සංවර්ධන කටයුතු පිළිබඳවද කැබිනට් මණ්ඩලයේදී පුළුල්ව කතාබහට ලක්විය.
‘අපි ලබන වසර ආයෝජන වසර ලෙස සලකා කටයුතු කරමු. හම්බන්තොට වරායෙන්ම එම කටයුතු අරඹමු’ යැයි මෙහිදී ජනාධිපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.
හම්බන්තොට වරාය ව්‍යාපෘතිය චීන සමාගමකට පැවැරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මේ වනවිට මතුව ඇති ගැටලු මොනවාදැයි මෙහිදී ජනාධිපතිවරයා අමාත්‍යවරුන්ගෙන් විමසා සිටියේය.
මෙහිදි මතු වූ සියලු ගැටලුවලට පිළිතුරු දුන්නේ මලක් සමරවික්‍රම අමාත්‍යවරයා හා අගමැති රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතාය.
චීන සමාගම අපට මුලින් පනවා තිබූ කොන්දේසි කිහිපයක් මේ වනවිට ඉවත්කරගෙන තිබෙනවා. යැයි මෙහිදී අගමැතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.
කෙසේ වෙතත් විෂයභාර අමාත්‍යවරයා වූ අර්ජුන රණතුංග මහතා මෙහිදී කිසිවක් ප්‍රකාශ නොකළ අතර ඒ පිළිබඳව ශ්‍රීල.නි.ප. අමාත්‍යවරුන් අතර යම් කුසුකුසුවක්ද මතුවිය.
