More military uniforms, weapons and suspects seized

Island-wide search operations conducted with the aim to ensure the security within the country was carried out today as well (06).
During a raid at a house in Thalapitiya, Galle police have arrested a person along with over 1000 clothes similar to uniforms of the tri-forces and the Sri Lanka Civil Security Force.
At a special search mission in Nawalapitiya, several suspicious items have been found on the bank of the Mahaweli River.
The mission conducted by the Nawalapitiya Police, Sri Lanka Army and the Special Task Force (STF), has discovered 02 swords, a hand-ax, six knives contained in a polythene bag and a sack, at the Salem bridge area on the Mahaweli Riverbank.
Police suspect that these items may have been abandoned due to the ongoing search operations.
Three persons including a woman have been arrested in search operations conducted in Horowpothana area. A sword and 49 CDs have been found with them at the mission carried out by Horowpothana Police and the Kebithigollewa Police STF.
Interrogations conducted on the Arab school teacher – who had close connections with Zahran Hashim and later remanded after being arrested in Mukkarawewa, Horowpothana recently – had led to these arrests.
Meanwhile, a large noise heard from Baseline Road area in Borella which has created slight alarm among the public has been identified as an accident that had occurred when a person fixing a metal rod connected to aTV antennae on the roof had come in contact with a 33000W high-voltage power cable.
The accident which had occurred in the Halgahawatte area has resulted in the hospitalization of three persons.
