The two Petitioners who sought an interim injunction against the signing of the controversial Millennium Challenge Cooperation Agreement requested the Supreme Court today to appoint a full bench for the hearing.

The two petitions filed by Agunugalle Siri Jinananda Thera and the GMOA were taken before Supreme Court judges Buwaneka Aluvihare and S Thurairajah.

Appearing for the petitioners, their lawyers told the court that the petitions should be heard by a full bench as the MCC agreement could risk the sovereignty of the country and its freedom.

Later, the two judges ordered the court registrar to refer the matter to the Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, Surakimu Sri Lanka Organization handed over a petition to the US Embassy in Colombo this morning.

The petition points out that the MCC could hinder the sovereignty, freedom and economy of the country
