Deegawapiya Sacred Relics exposition in Rathnapura

The relics unearthed from the Deegawapiya site during the excavations and the Crest-Gem which are in exposition around the island to provide the devotees with an opportunity to pay their homage were brought to the ancient Buddhist shrines in the Rathnapura area.

The public veneration of the Sacred Omniscient Relics of Deegawapiya Stupa and the Crest-Gem commenced from Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya on August 30, 2023 and it has been scheduled for the 150-day-long exposition for veneration of the island-wide devotees.

Accordingly, arrangements have been made for the exposition of these revered articles at the Kawanthissa Rajamaha Viharaya, Embilipitiya from December 05 morning to 07 December morning, at Nawaneliya Sri Bodhirajaramaya, Kolonna from 07 to 10 morning, at Sankapala Viharaya from the morning on 10 to the morning on 13 and at Sri Mahinda Maha Vihara Tampita Viharaya, Godakawela from morning on December 13 to morning on December 16. Hence, the devotees have the opportunity to worship the Sacred Omniscient Relics and Crest-Gem of the Deegawapiya Stupa and support this meritorious act by making financial contributions to the restoration project.
