Over 200,000 Russian tourists likely to visit Sri Lanka next year

Sri Lanka is one of the most preferred and favourite destinations for Russian tourists, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, 
Levan S. Dzhagaryan.

Dzhagaryan indicated an estimated 200,000 Russian tourists are likely to visit Sri Lanka in 2024 and air connectivity too would be further strengthened.

He said this to Chamber of Tourism and Industries (CTISL) President A.U.M. Jaufar when he paid a courtesy call on Dzhagaryan.The CTISL representative for the Middle East and Europe, Dr. M. Inamullah and National Organiser Donald Rajapsksha also participated in the discussion. 

Sr Lanka has welcomed 181,997 Russian tourists up to December 17 of this year.

Deputy Head of Mission Alexander Dyagilev and Second Secretary Galina Kuklina also took part in this discussion, which also focused on promoting Sri Lankan tourism to the Russian market.Attracting foreign direct investments to the hospitality industry was also discussed,” said Jaufar.

Responding to the proposals made by the CTISL, Dyagilev assured that the embassy would extend whatever assistance under the purview of the mission to coordinate with the relevant Federal Russian authorities.
