Colombo, Oct. 19 (Daily Mirror) – Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has announced that a police report will be mandatory for anyone seeking party nominations in the upcoming elections, to verify whether candidates have any involvement in drug-related or organized crime activities.
Speaking on the preparations for the future Provincial Council elections, Rajapaksa emphasized that the party will decide on nomination procedures after consultations with allied parties, including Left-leaning and other partner political groups.
He further said that he will reveal his own election plans once the official election dates are announced, asserting that he intends to present himself as a strong representative of the party.
