Mr James Moore, US ChargƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚© dƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢Affaires in Colombo has denied that the US ever threatened to block the IMF stand-by arrangement for Sri Lanka!
There is no doubt in my mind that Mr James Moore checked this with Mrs Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, before his meeting with Dr Palitha Kohona in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is quite possible that she could not recall anything to the effect. However, Mr Moore should have known that Mrs Clinton has serious problems with her ever fading memory. Even he does not seem to remember how Mrs Clinton reminisced about her terrible ordeal in Bosnia where she landed amidst hundreds of bombs raining over her head!
Mrs Clinton suffers from periodic bouts of selective amnesia ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” condition not uncommon among diplomats strutting around the globe pontificating on human rights, civilian casualties, international humanitarian law etc. Now it seems that the syndrome is spreading among other US diplomats even faster than swine flu in the UK. Mr Moore is, perhaps, the latest victim. He may not be the last.

Maybe, they the US did not ‘THREATEN to block’ it – they just did everything to simply ‘Block it’
