Time has come to expose the hypocrisy of the West- America, and the European Union, and find an alternative leadershipƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with China, Russia, Iran,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Libya and Vietnam. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Unfortunately, IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leadership in Asia ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is hampered by Tamil Nadu State with its racist politicians.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The respect, high expectation of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ justice and fair play, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and the awe with whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Western Nations were looked up to by theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  developing countries some of which were their former colonies have completely eroded.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Western Nation States, with their Human Rights watch, Amnesty International, UK Channel 4, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Western Officials of the UN System, have ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ become for the developing world a bunch of untrustworthy, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ dishonest, scoundrels making a mockery of democracy of which they are supposed to be the inventers.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Western Nation States are todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  hiding their nudity of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the lack ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ propriety ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  behaviour, and exemplary quality of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fair judgement withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the proverbial fig leaf of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ competitive ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ technology and a decliningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  prosperity.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Their hypocrisy came to light in their deplorable attempt to keep alive a ruthless terrorism in a developing country-Sri Lanka namely, when they had vowed to fight terrorism any where in the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They showed that they are unprincipled to the hilt and double tongued in their dealings with the world of nations other than those of their own.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They were out to divide Sri Lanka ethnically, territorially for the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ only reason of making itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a divided poor dependent nation a protectorate of the West to make of it a strategicƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  military out post to keep in checkƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  China, Russia and India, the rising new Nation ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Asia.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They manipulated toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  breakup the USSR, onlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to make Russia a powerful Nation.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They intervened in the student riots ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  China in Tiananmen to hold back the development of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ China, only to make of it an economic giant in Asia.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In this respect, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the American Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ holding discussions with several expatriate Tamil Associations which were the front organisations of the terrorists of Sri Lanka, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is a valid proof of Western dishonesty and political hypocrisy. The President Barack Obama if he does not put Robert Blake in his place ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will soon loseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  his popularity among the developing nations.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the meantime the European Union has decidedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to withhold the GSP+ award for Sri Lanka apparel industry, confirming a concerted effort by the International Community to take revenge from Sri Lanka for the defeat of terrorism, which can also be seen as a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ part ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Western policy of keeping the developing nations poor.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Any excuse is enough for the Western Nation States to bar the economic progress of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the countries of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  third world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The excuse theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  EU gives for this blatant economical strangulation of Sri Lanka is that it has violated human rights.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That is a flimsy excuse, compared to the enormity of the accomplished tasks of the Government and its Armed Forces to eliminateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism from the country, rescuing from the grip of terrorism , accommodating, feeding, taking care of, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  providing security to 200,000 Tamil Civil population, until their villages areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  being prepared for their permanent settlement. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sweden too has ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ withdrawn its diplomatic MissionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as a further attempt to weaken Sri Lanka and discreditƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the government. Milliband, Eric Solheim, and Kouchner perhaps contribute to accumulateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  evidenceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  against Sri Lanka interposingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Chanel 4 TV of UK to do their dirty work.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Under these circumstances the President Mahinda Rajapakse should be applauded for hisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  seeking to establishƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  diplomatic ties with the countries of the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, such as Libya, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco , Syria, Vietnam, and Kenya.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We had so far been seeking diplomatic contact with the high and mighty Western Nation States, but they have failed to respect the Sovereign State of Sri Lanka for what it is , seeking to divide and create internal dissention using the expatriate elements as pawns.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We of the third world have to know who our real friends are, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as Kipling had said ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meetƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ , and there will always beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  underhand manoeuvres by the Western Nation States to keep the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ developing countries theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  dependent satellite states, without accepting them as equals.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The West had always sought to remain the leading Nations, without giving a chance for any one else to take their place.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That was how they controlled the world, keeping the poor always poor.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At a G8ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Summit Conference in London late Francois Mitterand the Socialist President of FranceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  stressed the necessityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for the Nations of the North to develop those of the South.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  His argument was, that the development of the South will also solve some of the political problems of the North.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The immigrants from less developed countries willƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ stop migrating to the rich North if their countries are developed to provide them with a respectable standard of living.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the rich WestƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  paid scant attention to Mr. Francois MitterandƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s plea.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Western States do not want to help the South. If they are genuinely interested in the poorƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the South they would not dump excess harvest of American wheat in the sea, and pay the wheat cultivators to keep their fields barren, in order to maintain the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ wheat ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ price high.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The West set up the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ World Bank and the InternationalƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Monetary Fund, and gaveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  loans to developing countries on their conditions.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Their conditions were set out to enable the countries to pay back the interests on the loans, without getting involved with development programmes that would hamper the repayment of their debts.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  NoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  third world country was able to develop according to their system of granting loans. It was another means of strangulation of the poor,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  putting them in to a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-debt trapƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  set by the rich West.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Western States, if they disagreed with a political system of a country, would invaded that country setting upƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  one of their puppets in power as it happened in Grenada, or in Chilli.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If not they set up commercial embargos putting the countries in greater difficulty, like the trade embargo on Cuba.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In Iraq before theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-scandalous warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of the Bush Administration, the West declared an embargo against Iraq which resulted in thousands of children, old men and women dying ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ due to lack ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  medicine resulting from theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  inhumanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  embargo on trade and medicine.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Even the UN participated in economic sanctions against IraqƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  way back in 1990.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Western States defend their own comfort and wellbeing at the cost of the lives of the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ poor people of the developing countries. And they dare accuse Sri Lanka for violation of human rights, because Sri Lanka eliminated terrorism and rescued 200,000 Tamil civilians from the grip of the terrorists. TheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ensuing problems are human problems that any country in such a situation would have to face,. This the Western Nation States, interposed by the Human Rights Activists, Amnesty International and the UN System officials, do not seem to understand, or do not want to understand.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Western States are rich because of their conquests and colonisation of the third world countries.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They have become rich and dominant, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ technically advanced, all because of their plunderingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the poor Nations, mining their mineral wealth, exploiting their labour, and their countries in various ways.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Despite this the West has refused to give the developing countries the essentials ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  technological know how, merely handing out repayable loans.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is time that the hypocrisy of the West is exposed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is time that the abhorrence of the West by all developing Countries, though still not openly manifested, is made evident. The trend set by Sri Lanka, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to maintain and extend its diplomatic tiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  more friendlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  countries like ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ China, Russia, Iran, Israel, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Vietnam, Korea, Kenya,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is commendable. It is a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ great step taken in the correct direction.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leadership in Asia is hampered by the Tamil Nadu State.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Tamil Nadu, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with itsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  jokers of racist politicians likeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Karunanidhi, Jayalalitha, Vaiko,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the rest, is a barrier for India to be accepted as a true leader in Asia.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka should keep the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ developing countriesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  informed of the Western hypocrisy,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in its apparentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  animosity towardsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka ever since it eliminated a groupƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ruthless terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And form a block which recognises the leader ship of the countries like China, Russia, Iran, Libya etc., as an alternative to the West-the West ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which we had onceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  respected, of which we had high expectation of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ justice and fair play,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the awe with whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  we had once ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ looked up to it.
