Sir:

Your news item of 76 suspected Tamil “ƒ”¹…”Irregular’ migrants to be scrutinized: official, who floated in to Vancouver Island on a rusty freighter Ocean Lady, shouldn’t pose a big question as it needs continuation of our parliamentary compassion.

Why scrutinize, let them in?  After all they have arrived from Sri Lanka which Bob Rae said it was a “Failed State” and who was denied entry to that island.   Why scrutinize, let them in?   After all during the Sri Lanka bashing parliamentary debate on February 4th evening, the Liberals Albina Guarneiri, Derek Lee, Jim Karygiannis, Judy Sgro and Robert Oliphant accused Sri Lanka of committing “genocide” against the Tamils.  You can’t send them back to the island which commits “genocide” on the Tamils according to the Liberals. How could we!

Let them in, because the Ottawa media supported their cause during their demonstrations in the thousands on parliament hill in late April and early May when they interviewed the Tamils and let them spin their  accusatory stories, and one women standing on parliament hill said, that we Canadians didn’t know that the Tamils were shot dead by the Sri Lankans Armed Forces no sooner they land on the tarmac of the airport, and the reporter did not come back by saying, “I don’t understand why you Tamils have a death wish, to keep going to Sri Lanka in the hundreds for your holidays when you know  that you will be shot dead no sooner you land in Sri Lanka.”   And not a single Sinhalese was interviewed other than the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to find the opposing views on the reasons for the demonstrations.  The media should keep lending these Tamils a hand letting them spin their yarns as they seem to be good heart-choking stories and might sell a few more newspapers.

Let them in, after all we were bleeding hearts and let thousands of Tamils take over Wellington Street for days to let us know that they have been persecuted  in Sri Lanka which cost us over $900,000 for the clean up and over-time payments.

Let us Canadians show the world that we are a community of compassionate bleeding hearts and send over Immigration Consular officers to  set up offices in Sri Lanka’s Northern welfare camps to process their immigration applications and siphon out every single Tamil and bring them over.   Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that he will accommodate that wish of the compassionate  Canadians.  Why wait?

Why scrutinize these 76 Tamils?  Let them in.
