The Jathika Hela Urumaya will not support General Sarath Fonseka at the Presidential Election since he has fallen prey to certain international conspiracies hatched against the country, the JHU said yesterday. Four JHU parliamentarians told a media briefing held in Colombo that General Fonseka is about to betray the victory achieved by much sacrifice.

They totally rejected that a statement by a UNP parliamentarian that the JHU was eagerly looking forward to welcome General Fonseka if he contested for the Presidential election.

The JHU will never do so as he [General Fonseka] has joined hands with parties who tried to bring the country to its knees through conspiracies hatched by international forces. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-If JHU gets a chance it would prevail on General Fonseka of his unwise decision that would snare the country into a trap set by international forces,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera said.

The JHU hasnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t taken any decision to support General Fonseka at the upcoming election and the JHU will support President Mahinda Rajapaksa who led the country to liberate it from the clutches of LTTE terrorism that dragged for three decades.

Ven Udawatte Nanda, Ven Alawwe Nandaloka, Ven Aparakke Pagnananda, and Ven Akmeemana Dayarathana Theras were present.

Well JHU politicians, i am not going to argue whether former (retired) army commander and chief of staff has a right to contest in any election , because as a citizen of this country every one has a right to do so. Any one can choose his possession according to his conscience. You people are shading crocodile tears . if JHU lives up to the next general election it will be the beginning of the end of JHU.

Buddhist priests by entering to politics disgrace their own noble religion. best thing is to limit the priests to their temples. let politicians do their job , while priests preach religion to their community.
