The Foreign Affairs Minister,

Hon.Kevin Rudd

Federal Parliament of Australia,

Canberra,

ACT

Dear Mr.Minister,

Thank you very much for responding to my appeal to the Prime Minister, regarding the opposition to appointment of Rear Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe as the High Commissioner for Australia by the Sri Lankan Government from the LTTE support Tamil Diaspora and the sympathetic Australian Parliamentarians.

Though a lot of Sri Lankans may have appealed just as I did, it may have been your AmbassadorƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s input that may have cleared the way accept him to Australia. For that I appreciate Ambassador Kathy KlugmanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s impartiality.

However, intention of my note today is to dispel a misconception of this Panel Report in your attached response!

UNO consists of 192 member states at present and Sri Lanka is one of them.

The secretary general has immense power as stipulated within the UN Charter Constitution.

Yet, I believe thereƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s a protocol for him follow when exercising these powers.

If I take you back few years, I can remember my mentor Mr.Paul Keating (Prime Minister at the time) said we are at the Arse end of the World! Though we are situated geographically like so, this has no relevance to some intelligent and sensible people in this country unlike what comes out of end as Mr.Keating said is putrid. Luckily some of these people are in the Federal Parliament who can be convinced if error has been made. Err is to human, so they say!

UNSG may not have been well up to date on events what happened in the final phase of the conflict in Sri Lanka. Then, it would be fine if he had engaged some of the UN Member states to find whatever he needs to know. But unfortunately he contravened his power of jurisdiction by appointing completely outsiders of the UN to do this work.

Coincidentally or not two of the Panel have an AXE to grind with Sri Lanka, they are documented,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ while the third is happy as long as she gets a handsome payout.

Not only that, SG again flouted the rules of UN in putting the findings of his illegal Panel in the public domain! Legally UNSG should be reprimand if not sacked! If this happened to Israel latter would be the choice.

Unfortunately, even the intelligent, sensible administrators in the West, knowing this report is a toothless document, keep on regurgitating, the report and itƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s finding as the findings of A UN PANEL! They are learned people, but then, why do they parrot this way? Is it because Sri Lanka is not significant enough to weigh the nature of this report and dispel it rightly to the bin? Or is it because they lose more important votes at the expense of a decent country, or LTTE support groups have subscribed heavily to the party funds?

Now that you have read illegal document, you believe what they said as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-credibleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ is good enough to cry for WAR crimes! All the credible statements are allegations churned up daily on Tamilnet and other LTTE propaganda web pages. Otherwise how could all these suppose to be UN data that comes out in the media now be printed on the very next day of the event that took place? Was there a direct dialogue between the LTTE support Web pages and the UN staff? These questions are merely for one to wear the thinking cap instead of believing them as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-credibleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚, how many of those who has already PASSED the judgment against Sri Lanka, engages to worry to analyse these allegations! ItsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ easy take shout ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Guilty, Guilty, and GuiltyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

I am truly grateful to you for helping me to make you think differently on the forming of this Panel! Then apply logic to its findings!

Sincerely Yours,

Vajiragnana Warnakulasuriya,

Melbourne
