In the early years of Rajapakse Presidency, well before MavilAru and the Great Humanitarian War, Sri Lanka sank to the depths of joining the happy company of Solomon Islanders in the Pacific to be theonly other country in the world to ban the book by Dan Brown – The Da Vinci Code. How this came to be about is no secret – it was one of the many occasions where the asymmetrical influence of the Catholic Church affectedour affairs in Sri Lanka however mundane they are. Although there werenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t many who would have been able or interested in this piece of fiction, the Catholic Church went on the extra mile to assert its authority on deciding what the Sri Lankans, majority of who are Buddhists, read. This showed in clear contrast the length to which the Catholic Church will go to control events and micro manage how Sri Lankans think and act.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ever since the coming of the despicable Portuguese to our island nation 500 year ago, the CathloicChurch has always been the shadowy power behind the political power in Sri Lanka. According to late GaminiIriyagolle , to tell the story of Sri Lanka during the last 500 years would be tantamountƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to narrating Hamlet without mentioning the Prince of Denmark. It is this inconvenient truth that we have to confront, to understand the happenings behind the power politics ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Although the Catholic Church vehemently opposed the election of MahindaRajapakse to the Presidency of Sri Lanka, the President has so far visitedtwice the Pope in the Vatican-ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  thegreat humanitarian protector of pedophile priests. In order to understand the happenings in Sri Lanka in finding political solutions to Tamils we must clearly understand how the Catholic Church is influencing the Presidents hand. President should understand that he is a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”child playing with fireƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and he will suffer burns, if he thinks he can handle the Church in the same way he handled the Indians during the last few months of Eelam War IV – for the Church has a way of running with the hares, in Sri Lanka and hunting with the hounds, abroad!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We know clearly it is the Sinhala Buddhist nation that bore the brunt of the 30 year war and it was the Sinhala Buddhists who gave unflinching support to end it with man-power and moral support and blessings. So far I am yet to know of any Christian or Catholic organization thatopenly supported the unity and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka. I say this with apologies to many Christians who have given their support and blessings for the Sri Lankan cause at a personal level.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Catholics ChurchƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s involvement and its support for the LTTE is not a secret. Much more than its work in Sri Lanka by the more visible presence of Catholic Clergy among the LTTE, it is its influence in the Christian West that is more formidable and menacing. Its ability to influence the hand of these nations is seen by their belligerent attitude towards Sri Lanka and their support for the LTTE rump overseas, now headed by a Bishop of the Catholic Church.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Influencing the hand of the President in deciding the fate of Sri Lanka,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Christian Church will use many channels open to them. The Church can bring pressure through family, friends, clubs, other social organizations,strong-arm tactics and arm wrenching, pressure, blackmailing and even gun-boat diplomacy from Western Christian Powers etcetc. As I have mentioned many times before the Church if it cannot enter through the front door, it will definitely crawl through the bedroom window to get what they want, for it is no stranger to crimes, from pedophilia to inquisitions; the crimes it has committed through two millennia are by far the worst humanity has seen in its entire history.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Devolution of power in Sri Lanka ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the North and East is only the tip of the iceberg to balkanize Sri Lanka. There will be other provinces soon to join the fray starting with the North Western Province where there is a sizable and influential Christian population and perhaps later the Central Province where there is a sizable Indian Tamil population who are increasingly being Christianized. Battle for Capital Territory ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Colombo and Greater Colombo will see Sinhala Buddhists gradually displaced using money. Real Estate being exchanged for paper money of transitional value.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the coming weeks and months when the fate of the nation is decided in considering the Racist Tamil demands for a separate state we must watch carefully how, when and where the hands of the Christian Church will materialize to influence those that matter. In making his decisions the President must consider how he will be remembered by this Sinhala Buddhist majority nation,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and by history. The colorful history of Sri Lanka provides enough and more examples to follow or not to follow. He could end up in the category of King Wijayabahu I who successfully fought off the invaders and united the motherland or Don Juan Dharmapala who offered the Crown of Sri Lanka to the King of Portugal.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Its avowed policy as enunciated by the late Pope John Paul II is evangelizing Asia and as everyone knows it is easy to do this dark deed in small takes and that is why they are intent on dismembering Sri Lanka. In this context the utterances of Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith at the Madhu Church recently needs to be looked and assessed carefully.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There are some deluded Buddhist priests in Sri Lanka (who may be for all intents and purposes be in the pay of the Church or are shanghaied by many inducement and blackmailingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mechanisms of the Christian Church) who believe that it is possible to have friendly discourse or dialogue with the Christian Church about religious amity in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This is not so. Only dialogue that the Buddhists can have with the Christian Church is that of the fox and the chickens!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For the good of our Motherland, for whose unity and territorial integrity, patriots stood steadfast and on countless occasions sacrificed their lives, we must not say now or ever that we were ignorant of thisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  inconvenient truth – that the Christian Church in its various manifestations is indeed the dark hand that is working surreptitiously towards the dismemberment of Sri Lanka and in the process the rest of South Asia. The world wide Christian Church is the glue that binds all the Western Christian powers together in this unholy enterprise and with whom it has a close symbiotic relationship.

Ratnapala has filed a realistic situation. In fact I informed of the gravity of the situation through my piece:
Catholic Bishops Believe that Sri Lankans are Dimwitted

    See: http://www.lankaweb.com/news/items06/310706-6.html
LTTE leadership was and is almost 100% Catholics. Indeed by 1990ies I informed the Lankans as to the connection between Norwegian Christian clique and Jaffna Tamil Catholic church. It was never published by the daily news. Curiously the Daily news is owned by the Sri Lankan people, but run by Catholic action. So the real information of the Catholic Church inspired insurrection was blocked by this insidious organisation as per part of the conspiracy. If my information reached the Lankans, and not blocked by the Catholic church controlled media, the terrorist scourge to the nation could have been mashed using just 1/3 resources of the country. The very reason why the Daily news has black listed me. Even now the Catholic Jaffna Tamils Diaspora from abroad is targeting the country. The Lankans should first identify their enemy, not this aimless, witless shadow boxing. It time the Sinhalese Buddhist reacted to show that they are no longer dim-witted.

    Read the Pakistan’s Buddhist Past.

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/LIVING/08/21/pakistan.gandhara.art/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Of course Pakistan was formed in 1947 but it was an area where Buddhism flourished.

Today it is a hotbed of violence, extremism and disaster thanks to Islamic violence.

Neglecting Buddhism is the curse of Pakistan.

Neglecting Buddhism was also the curse of Afghanistan. Just months after Taliban blasted the Bhamian Buddhist statues, it was bombarded for 10 years killing millions.

If Pakistan is to rise to its former glory, it should again embrace Buddhism. But it will not happen and Pakistan’s miseries will not end.

  3. ranjith Says:

    Hello Samson,

One day the other religions will overcome Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, many Sinhalese Buddhists leave to other faiths. No one prefer to accept Buddhism. I do not know why? Is Buddhism is not relevant path in today’s life compare to other faiths?

Are we practising Buddhists? Do we really kind to minorities of other faiths in Sri Lanka? Do we give equal rights to the minorities as what we, Buddhists enjoy? Definetely not? But we are proud to be called ourselves Buddhists.

In N & E, we build many Buddhist temples, but no one reveres them or pays visit. Only the people from South, visit as tourists.

We, Sri Lankans are apparently powerless people who cannot overcome the pressures from christian mercenaries of West. We have to dance according to their tune. Otherwise, definetely Buddhism will fade away from our soil.

  4. Fran Diaz Says:

Ranjith: The Core Teachings of Buddhism are – Dhana, Seela, & Bhavana, the 5 Precepts and the Eightfold Noble Path. These are generally practised by most Buddhists, aren’t they, at least to some degree in their daily lives ?

Bhavana should be taught to children from a young age to gain self control and wisdom. Question is – are our Buddhist priests doing their job right ?

  5. jayt Says:

    Samson,

Why worry about Pakistan past? You said today violence is curse of Pakistan’s neglecting Buddhism. So 6 million Jews killed by Hitler was the curse of Jews? Jews themselves believe that God chosen them and others not belong to God and they have been acting on it in Europe for 2000yrs and this thought provoked European public for centuries which created anti-semantic and finally it proceed Hitler. So where were God? God was not there, that mean is it curse of Jews?
In the Japan earth-quark and tsunami. So Chinese and Korean will say it is curse of Japanese occupation. American will say it is curse of Pearl harbor attack.

there is no any curse for European who killed million Jews, no curse for colonial slavery. Therefore, I am 100% sure that European belong to God. is that right?

  6. jayt Says:

The nature bring every thing to everybody. nobody is protected by God for his or her religion. Of course some countries are more safer than others in nature and in politic. everything is part of evolution. all we have to do is try best to be kind where it is necessary or where we can apply it.
My idea is we have to be fair to everybody regardless of region.

  7. Samson Says:

    @Jayt

Jews are a violent community. They even killed Jesus! Look at all those trouble they create in the Middle East. Mosad agents hatch trouble everywhere there is peace even in Sri Lanka. Don’t compare them with Buddhists.

Buddhists are not violent people. Muslims were not violent people until now.

But today Pakistan and Afghanistan tolerate no other religion than Islam. That is their curse. Do you understand?

I agree fully with your idea —– My idea is we have to be fair to everybody regardless of region.

Then all the problems are finished.

  8. Fran Diaz Says:

Jews are not a violent people.

Please permit me to digress to explain what I mean. Jesus Christ himself was of Jewish birth. Jews happened to be the main money lenders in that time and as we know money lenders were not popular people. Jerusalem was taken over by the Romans and Jesus, we think, was arrested by the Romans because he was exerting too much influence over the ordinary people there, and he also broke up some of the money lenders stalls. During Passover, one of the Jewish the ceremonies, the Roman representative in Jerusalem at that time, Pontius Pilate, symbolically washed his hands off the matter of how to deal with Jesus. As a gift at Passover, a prisoner would be freed. He put the decision of whether to crucify Jesus or Barnabus (a robber) to the ordinary people of Jerusalem. The ordinary people thought that Jesus would save himself anyway through his ability to perform miracles, and so instead chose Barnabus to go free. But Jesus allowed the crucifixion to happen. We think Jesus did not perform any miracles to free himself because of the absorption of negative Karma to himself off people he had already healed & saved prevented him from doing so – thus the words : “Jesus died for our sins”.

However, after the event of Jesus’s crucifixion, the Jewish people of that time scattered over the world and they lost their land, Israel. Over 12 Million Jewsih people died in WWII. They came together again to form Israel (aided mainly by Britain & USA), after their vast suffering under Adolf Hitler of Germany. In the formation of Israel, the Jewish people merely re-claimed their ancient homeland. Subsequently, their attempts at the protection of Israel as a safe homeland has resulted in a ‘bad name’ for the Jewish people. Somewhat similarly, the protection of Sri Lanka as one undivided land is also misunderstood by various people. I am only addressing the dilemma of the Jewish people here. The role of the Catholic church in the East is a different issue.

Also, Sri Lanka is being used to solve the Caste/Poverty issues of Tamil Nadu with various vested interests in tow. This is our humble interpretation of events of that time and now.

In the end, everyone loves peace, good health & happiness in our relatively short lifespan allowed on Earth. I hope what I have written here does not hurt anyone.
