ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Chaminda VassƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has been given a rough ride by Sri Lankan cricket administrators.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Chaminda has performed in an excellent manner, except for few odd matches in which he failed to secure wickets.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But teaming up with the spinners of the calibre of Murali andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sanath, Vass was able to penetrate in the fast bowling attack with great veracity.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Some commentators believe that most of the matches in the past years were won by Sri Lanka due to single-handed effort of Great Murali.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This is not true.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The statistics proves otherwise.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Just like Vass, Murali also had lean periods, not taking reasonable number of wickets in matchesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for quite sometime but being able to maintain low average runs per over.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Listening to cricket commentators like Russel Arnold, who maintains that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- we are not winning because we donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-MuraliƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This is an absolute rubbish.

If Chamina Vass is fit, why he should not be contracted , even at this dying stage of Sri Lankan Cricket due to lack of fast bowlers?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We urge with great earnestƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that the Cricket Administrators should enlist Chaminda Vass.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Chaminda is a great fighterƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and a committed Sri Lankan sportsman.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In spite of past treatments by the Sri Lankan Cricket, if Chaminda Vass is given the opportunity, he will no doubtƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  make a spontaneous contribution and assist in mentoring the upcoming bowlers such as Nuwan Kulasekera, Chanaka Welagedera, Lakmal, Eranga team.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  There is lotƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lankan Cricket can gain by deciding in favour of this great sports personality.

Best wishes to Chaminda Vass!

Well said Mr.M.D.P.D. your sentiments need to be echoed wherever Sri Lanka cricket is known and adulated where undoubtededly this is universal. Chaminda Vaas has been given a raw deal by the SLCB where the irony of it all is he might have made a difference in the last World Cup too. Sadly , as I write this the great Sri Lankan cricket icon Chaminda with his illustrious career has announced his retiremen from all forms of international cricket at the age of 36. He was truly the driving force behind many Sri Lankan victories where he teamed up with Muttiah Muralidaran to great effect where they complimented eachother through their performances. There will never be a bowling combination suxh as theirs for a long time and Sri lanka owes a lot to them for putting Sri Lanka on the cricketing map. May Fair Winds of Fortune and God’s Blessings be his for the wonderful personality he is, throughout his life as we remember one of Sri Lanka’s very best.

I agree with you about Russel Arnold. When Russel Arnold commentates he is really full of himself. Also I can’t stand his winy voice. I would prefer if he would retire from cricket commentary altogether. Surely there are people in Sri lanka who can commentate well on the game. Why does it always have to be a former cricketer. Even Ranjith Fernando despite his faults was a pleasure to listen to. I feel like putting the TV on mute when he comes on with this silly commentary. I think the Sinhalese cricket commentators are far better. They never commentate with the same vitriol about players and teams in the same manner that the english language commentaters do. Russel Arnold doesn’t seem to have much respect for the sport of its players. He is a poor cricket commentator.

If you think Russel Arnold is a bad commentator, you must be cringing when you listen to Sanath Jayasuriya.
