Terrorists and Sinhala separatists: a list of questions to Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha

Introduction

According to Eric Soleham, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was the only person who said the war against Prabakaran was winnable. Thus Gotabhaya has earned a right to say that an Eelam supporter is a terrorist. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ One can extend this statement further and say that anybody who supports 13A is a separatist. All kinds of retired Sinhala officers, Sinhala dollar NGO agents, Friday Forums, Concerned Citizens and lot of selfish and stupid politicians in and outside the cabinet are behind the 13A death trap. Many of President Mahinda RajapaksaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s close advisors could be believers of the 13A gospel.

It is in this context I decided to resubmit this old essay with some modifications, after I saw Prof. Rajiva WijesinhaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (RW) piece ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Destroying ConfidenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ on the Colombo Telegraph website, 4/23/2012. In it RW tried a rescue job on behalf of Dr. Dayan Jayatileke (DJ). These two are not dishonest people. But they are the children of McCaulayƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s children, known in former colonies as black-whites. I do not know if these two can pass R PremadasaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s famous Kamatha Test. I can guess they did not attend Sunday temple schools. These two are Eurocentric thinkers empowered by their fluency in the English language, one even hiding behind Fidel Castro cigars.

I treat RW and DJ as two test cases to explore if anybody supporting 13A is a separatist. These two foreign university Ph.D. doctors are requested to read at least what I wrote on this 13A death trap easily available on the LankaWeb archive. They can also read the evidence I gave before the LLRC.

Those who are now free to engage in regime change conspiracies can do so from cool office rooms in Colombo, Delhi, Madras, London or New York because of the sacrifices made by the village girls and boys like the Hasalaka Hero. His mother is living with pain in her village, while Sambandhan and Mano Ganeshan play political havoc in Colombo and Chennai.

In this context it is even more painful to have ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-educatedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Sinhala separatists. I therefore decided to give Prof RW an opportunity to respond to the 20 questions that I recently asked from Dayan Jayatileke for which he tried an unprofessional gloss. RW can answer the questions that he thinks relevant to his mission. All he has to do is to replace DJ in the questions with RW. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He can show us that he is not a Sinhala separatist. This way RW can do a better service to his motherland.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Politicians, who did not know history or geography of Sri Lanka, did blunders in the past. For example, both SWRD and Dudley S signed agreements with Chelvanayagam who wanted a country in a Tamil homeland giving him land powers. Giving land powers in such context is like erecting ladders to jumping monkeys. These agreements were based on selfish politics and not based on what was reasonable and justifiable. Present day Marxist remnants proudly cite Colvin R. de. SilvaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s 1950s formula, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-one language two countries, two languages one country,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ forgetting what Colvin said and did in the 1960s and 1970s. Colvin, JRJ, CBK, RPremadasa or RanilW or the LLRC did not understand that as long as there is a Tamil Nadu, there will be a separatist Tamil country movement and Sri Lanka must do everything domestically to erase language-based boundaries.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is in this context that I doubt Dr. Dayan JayatilekeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s (DJ) sincerity. Does he not understand history and geography of Sri Lanka or is he pretending? Why we cannot be reasonable to all ethnic groups including the majority Sinhala? If DJ read the book by Devanesan Nesiah, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Discrimination with reason,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (1997), he would understand how reasonable discrimination has worked in India, USA and Malaysia.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  I do not think DJ is Harold Laski reborn in Sri Lanka as his uncle Carlo Fonseka once identified him, but DJ has some talents, just like Rohan Gunaratne who is an expert on terrorism operating from a university in Singapore. They both were in the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-this war is not winnableƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ boat in the past. The ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-solutionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ they suggest now make us think twice because of this past record, more so with DJ who once fled to India with Vartharaja Perumal.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  As a person who wrote enough against the 13A death trap (just like JRJƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s death trap constitution of 1978 and subsequent electoral reforms), I think I am correct in labeling Dayan J as the step-father of the 13A Plus idea, copied later by the American embassy in Colombo, Indians in Delhi, TNA, Anandasangaree and some Sinhala politicians now holding ministerial jobs. In the past, when I sought clarification from DJ about his 13A+ plan he behaved in a funny way which made me suspicious of his sincerity. Does he genuinely believe in his own step son 13A+ as a solution to keep this island in one piece? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Marxists ruined Sri Lanka and DJ as a Marxist theoretician of sort, has a heavy burden to justify his miracle solution 13A+ by educating others by answering our questions. After he was removed from his ambassador job last time, there was a lull in his carrying the 13A monkey on his back and he even talked about a Sinhala Buddhist heartland in the island (opposite of Rosy SenanayakeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s idea of removing the Buddhist social base in the island). Therefore, I hope a reformed DJ would decide to educate others about his magic solution called the 13A Plus.

Twenty questions

1. Does he (DJ) not agree that 13A has no moral basis to be a law because it was forced by India on a frightened JRJ who forced MPs to vote for it by keeping them in a hotel-converted prison?

2. Does DJ agree with the suggestion to submit 13A to a peopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s referendum to confirm or reject it by the people of Sri Lanka?

3. Does DJ accept the fact that 13A is an acceptance of the myth of traditional Tamil Homeland in Sri Lanka?

4. Does DJ not accept that on the basis of 3 above Muslims also will have a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-rightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ to ask for a homeland (Oluvil Declaration type) of their own?

5. Does he not accept the fact that 13A was nothing but the introduction to Sri Lanka of the policy of communal representation implemented in India by the Government of India Act of 1935?

6. Does he not agree that 13A has created hordes of corrupt new political families who want to use the PC set up to go to parliament?

7. Does he not think that Sri Lanka is too small to have separate provincial governments?

8. What is DJƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s definition of 13A+? Is it giving land powers or giving both land and police powers?

9. Does DJ support the re-merging of Eastern and Northern Provinces?

10. Does DJ know that Christian fanatic organizations mapped a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-belt of SatanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in the world that should be saved?

11. Can DJ explain how 13A+ will prevent Tamil Nadu and world Tamil forumƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s aspiration to have a Tamil country?

12. Does DJ accept that Tamils in Sri Lanka have more rights than Tamils in India?
13. Can DJ list grievances unique to Tamils in Sri Lanka?

14. Would DJ agree that in Sri Lanka the problem is ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-spatial inequalityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ not racial inequity?

15. LLRC wanted to empower people at the lowest level. What mechanism DJ can suggest to implement this?

16. R. Premadasa increased GSN units from 4,000 to 14,000 to give jobs to his UNP supporters. Does DI think we need that many grama sevaka units?

17. New Zealand and USA are examples of countries using natural boundaries as administrative unit demarcations. Does DJ agree to demarcate GSN boundaries on natural/ecological basis?

18. Units under 17 above will create seven large River basins in Sri Lanka. Does DJ think such seven river basins are better than the artificially carved nine provinces?

19. Does DJ think western white imperial politicians want one Sri Lanka or two countries in the island?

20. Would DJ read the book, Breaking India: Western interventions in Dravidian and Dalit faultlines?

4 Responses to “Terrorists and Sinhala separatists: a list of questions to Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha”

  1. Fran Diaz Says:

“as long as there is a Tamil Nadu, there will be a separatist Tamil country movement and Sri Lanka must do everything domestically to erase language-based boundaries” – how true !

  2. AnuD Says:

Except for Christians, two others live capitalist life styles and talk socialist structures. Because, they survive and they are not harmed by their changes to the country.

  3. Lorenzo Says:

” It is in this context that I doubt Dr. Dayan Jayatileke’s (DJ) sincerity.”

Oh! Have no doubt. He is a peaceful separatist. We knew that from the time he COULD NOT STOP writing about how good the 13 amendment is.

He loves to live in Europe.

    But he is still useful.

Rajiva is only an English lecturer. He knows nothing about international politics. If you want to know about English grammer, he is very good and sincere. Other things, useless.

  4. Marco Says:

Is the author also insinuating that President MR is also a terrorist?
If you extend the same logic the author reasons out, MR is also a terrorist.
Perhaps, he ought to Google the many times MR has publicly stated that he would implement the 13th.

It’s not surprising the author received an earful in another blog/website when presented the same 20 questions. (not that i agreed with DJ response)
So, he has now presented the same to Rajiva on Lankaweb.
Ah well, one hopes he gets the answers he deserves.

Perhaps, he ought to ask one question and a vital one to the man who holds the strings.

When are you going to repealing the 13th from the Constitution using your 2/3rd majority?

    Simple one!

    clock is ticking….
